I am an independent artist with a home recording studio. I use the 993 to record my acoustic guitars. I prefer to use the 993 over recording via the internal acoustic-electric mic my guitars have. I selected my acoustic-electric guitars because of their unplugged sound; thus, that is the sound I like to capture in my recordings. I normally place the 993 pointing at the 12th fret, about 3 to 6 inches (I use a 991 at the bridge to better capture the lows; then I mix the two depending on the sound I am looking for). Because the 993 is so bright in its sound and its sensitivity is so high, I use a foam cover in it (this way I can have a fan blowing air at me without being heard; it gets warm around the recording console, which is where I record the acoustic guitars; plus I do not have to wear a surgical mask in order to prevent it from capturing my breathing!! Yes, it is that sensitive!!). I have used it with 6-string, 12-string and Spanish guitars (nylon strings) and the clarity and the true sound it captures is great!! I have two 993s and they have been with me for 3 years and never a glitch. It is a great buy!!

I used them for overhead drums mics in my home recording studio. For the price they are great. Very clean and very sensitive. I don't know how the compare to the really expensive mics but for my home studio, they work great. No compliants.

I bought this mic a while ago for miking guitar, that was a mistake. Then i miked the Hi - Hat of my drum set with it and it sounded amazing. If you need to mic your Hi-Hat, this mic is the way to go.
