I feel inclined to review, since I went in on one blindly. Overall, this mic is better on vocals than the 990 is, at they are not as muddy, you can tell a difference in the mids and highs; Its also very sensitive. Once you EQ, you can make this Mic sound pretty darn good. The build of the mic is nice, theres not a ton of mesh on the wire grill like there is on the 990, but this mic pops rather easily, so make sure you have the pop filter, and you may need to speak off to the side of the mic. Although it feels sturdy, it is a bit light, which makes me not want to drop it. I give this product a 9/10, the only thing that couldve made it better was including a shockmount. If you need shockmount size, aim for the V67G or the V57 size as the 990 shockmount is too wide to fit it. At the price right now, it is pretty much a steal, just dont forget to buy a shockmount!
This mic does not contain any specific features such as a DB switch or anything else, just a microphone similar to others like the MXL V57 or V67M.
The build quality feels sturdy and well designed, not quite as heavy as the MXL 990, although I feel like you would not want to drop this microphone on the floor.
I decided to go in on this mic with no reviews; I was pleasently surprised. The only thing that couldve made the deal better was including a shock mount with the packaging. I ended up getting the musiciansgeat shockmount to accompany it (fits the mic a little tight, but it works).

Decent sound. Relatively inexpensive. I also have an MXL-V63M condenser mic and even though they're similar in price I prefer the V63M over the V250. Not a bad mic though! Especially if you just simply need another condenser for whatever reason. Feels a little light, like it's not as solid as the V63M. Still a good mic though.

Comments about MXL V250 Condenser Microphone:

I got this for light studio production and practice, but I have actually ended up using it for wedding ceremony sound. It picks up EVERYTHING, it is a great mic, have had many compliments. Picks up the officiant, bride and groom and every bird and cricket near them. No need for a separate mic for each person.

Comments about MXL V250 Condenser Microphone:

I ordered the mic when it was the Stupid Deal of the Day. When it arrived I was very excited to test it out so I put the mic on the mount and then started screwing the mount on my mic stand. Whilst attaching the mount to the mic stand the ring that holds the mic onto the mount snapped. At first I thought I had simply applied way too much torque to the mount since I had the mic attached. However, I noticed I still had about six full turns to tighten the mount to the stand so I don't believe that was the case. Upon further inspection I discovered the the included mount is very cheap plastic.

The mic itself sounds great. This is my first condenser mic so I don't have much to compare it to but it sounds much better recording vocals than the dynamic mic I was using prior. I also tested it out and mic'ed my amp and recorded some guitar and was pleased with the results, though it won't ever be my main amp mic. Overall I would recommend this mic but I would also recommend buying a pop filter as well as a suspended mount. Contacted customer service about the mount, still waiting to hear back.

I ordered the mic to have it upgraded by MJE in Mass. I just received the mic today and tested it out. It has a really great sound. Very tight and airy. I am looking forward to using it on some up and coming vocal sessions.

Comments about MXL V250 Condenser Microphone:

I bought this mic to complement my home studio. I tried recording vocals with it, and was impressed by the clarity and crispness of the sound. My voice often sounds a bit muddy with other mics I've used, even more expensive ones. I bought the V250 on a SDOTD, so I'm not sure about its frequency response. It works great for me, though. I'll definitely continue to use it for vocals.
