I got a couple of these mics because we needed a few extra for a little recording project for this weekend... and let me tell you WOW!!!! THEY DO IT ALL! WHEN WE MIC'd up the Acoustic Guitar it sounded like a 3000.00 dollar Taylor. When we mic'd up my kit with these mics they were perfect for the job I had one on the snare and one over head and I had a Sure SM-57 ON the HATS and some other mics over head and on the toms. But the drums came out good because of these mics. When we proceeded with Vocals we used both Nady's and they performed wonderfully. The vocals came out awesome!

Do not use it for vocals or acoustic guitar. Way Way Way too bright. Using it to mic an amp or drums yeah..not so bad. But the low end it really lacks. Even on a tube preamp..no good. Really...its an ok studio budget mic. But for vocals and acoustic..go with an MXL at the same price.

Comments about Nady CM-88 Condenser Microphone:

I don't think it's possible to exaggerate how cheap this microphone is and how poor its element is.Not only is this microphone an unusually poor, toy-grade piece (examine the internals yourself if you doubt this), its hugely overpriced compared to something like the cheaper MXL SDCs available at about the same price, which are at least real microphones. It's false economy to buy this unit. It's a joke.

Comments about Nady CM-88 Condenser Microphone:

The CM-88 is of poor qulity. The element is constructed very porly and the sound is of similar quality. I purchased 4 of these and of the 4, three were awfull sounding and one was compleatly unuseable. I would suggest not spending your money on these mic's.

My favorite set of overheads

By Olafson

Comments about Nady CM-88 Condenser Microphone:

I use two of the CM88's as overheads for recording church and school concerts. They have a true sound, and stereo seperation that's to die for.

A good starter mic

Comments about Nady CM-88 Condenser Microphone:

Just got into the recording scene. This is a very affordable mic and sounds great. used it to reinforce a violin solo. Picked up the Highs with great quality. No bass what so ever but that's why you use other mics. Not meant for vocals, the supplied windscreen is NOT a pop filter. LOL Great mic for the price.

Good mic for a small price

By CTheBeatKeeper

Comments about Nady CM-88 Condenser Microphone:

I bought two of these mics to use on my drum kit, and I was very surprised at the quality of sound I received. I found these mics to be, while not amazing, more than adequate for a good recording.

a little different

By aaron myers

Comments about Nady CM-88 Condenser Microphone:

a strange thing about this mic. the polar pattern is very similar to an sm 57. I've used it to mic overheads but its not the best. butt for the bottom of a snare its great and its beautifull on acoustic guitars. it was also the only mic to capture my old ampeg b25b 2x15 cab the way it sounds in the room

      Awesome sound, awesome price

      By Dan the Man-Pccpw

      from Peru, IN

Comments about Nady CM-88 Condenser Microphone:

The price does not reflect the sound quality. I looked at how other consumers rated the Cm88's and made my purchasing decision based on that. I used them for drum overhead mics, and even to record acoustic guitar and vocals. I am very happy with the sound quality that they produced.

Comments about Nady CM-88 Condenser Microphone:

I've purchased two of these mics and I use them for recording, amplifying pianos, and for an overhead drumset mic. They pick-up and sound excellent. I used them for a recording gig this evening. I used two CM 88s and ran them through a kustom 8420 mixer, with two 50 foot shure microphone cables, and into my laptop. I'm reviewing the recording and it is demo quality. For the minimal amount of equipment I had to drag to record, it's worth it. I'm happy with my purchase, these are two great looking mics and if anything goes wrong I will be sure to write another review.

      Vocal use

Comments about Nady CM-88 Condenser Microphone:

I used this mic in a wedding as on overhead mic and the pick up was exceptional. I have bought other condenser mics costing 5 times as much and I could barely tell the difference.

Comments about Nady CM-88 Condenser Microphone:

I have worked with good mics, ok mics, and bad mics since I started recording a few years ago (still can't afford a "good" one, for they start around 1000, 2 grand if you know what you want). This is definitely in the "bad" category, yet I think the price should give that away. WAY too much high end, brittle at that, mids were muddy and no low end. They may be cheap, but save your money for something better, fifty bucks could be just the right boost for what you need for a better mic.

Comments about Nady CM-88 Condenser Microphone:

Using it right now primarily on Hi-Hat and the CM-88 really rejects off-axis noise well! I can barely hear the snare which is off-axis about 1.5 feet away! The sonic quality is adequate, especially for a mic this darn cheap!

      Great straight-forward condenser mic

      By Tuna Ketchup

      from San Antonio, Texas

Comments about Nady CM-88 Condenser Microphone:

This is a fantastic condenser microphone - especially for the price. These mics, unlike many in the same price range, achieve a remarkably crisp, full-bodied sound for use as drum overheads, acoustic guitar, guitar cab and even vocal recordings. When used with some creative use of spaces and positionings, these mics will get the job done again and again. One bad thing is they are pretty fragile.

Comments about Nady CM-88 Condenser Microphone:

I have used this mic for acoustic guitar and electric guitar (close amp mic-ing) for recording. I was amazed. I used it with a pre amp (Beringer Mic-200) and straight into recorder. Yes there wasn't much bass but that's what the eq is for. It's also great for overheads, snare, highhat. Good mic to add your to studio.
