Don't be fooled by a cheap price.

By Brent Long

Comments about Nady FWA-12 Powered Floor Monitor:

I bought a pair of these, thinking that at such a great price, I could just buy more if they wore out. Within about 3 months - just long enough to get past the warranty period, one was completely dead. The other is still limping along, but I've decided not to spend another dime on Nady gear. Spend a little more and get some better ones unless you like throwing away money and reordering stuff. Sometimes the cheap stuff works great...this is not one of those times.
Can't give it a 1 here, because it does have a lot of inputs...but I'm only willing to go to a 2, because the quality is soooo bad it's just not worth it.
Failed after 3 months of light usage (only on Sundays). We got about a dozen uses.
If they worked well, it would be an awesome value, but since they don't work, the value is zero.

Not Loud Enough

By RobALou

from Santa Fe, NM

Comments about Nady FWA-12 Powered Floor Monitor:

I have owned this monitor for about 4 years now, and gigged with it plenty. It's just WAY too low. Every gig I crank the volume to 10 and it gets drowned out pretty fast. If I had the money, I'd invest in at least a 15, or maybe a better made 12. Quality wise it's fine (not falling apart), but the sound is just not loud enough.

Not terrible for the price

By Intuition & Superstition

Comments about Nady FWA-12 Powered Floor Monitor:

Just purchased this for the price--affording me more equipment. Speakers, etc. work well, but the parts are made to fall apart. Everthing from the handles to the wiring inside are made of plastic. Not a very durable planstic -- Definately Cheap plastic. After barely bumping the 1/4 cable with my foot & breaking the hex-head nut clean off that was holding it, I have found myself looking to replace the handles & breakable exposed jacks (& external parts). Although, so far I disagree with the other guy; sounds are good & effective. This baby pumps quite a few watts & conveniently hooks-up to my 8 ohm amp as well for private practice. I can connect my amp to my highs & monitor to make for great triangulated practice sessions as well as stage performances. The parts just may be worth it . . . just replace what you need to. Add it up! It is still cheaper than the other options. I already have 2 & am considering buying another.Again, very cheap quality parts--except the speakers, & that's what I'm really after, RIGHT!?ROCK ON!

Weak power, but you get what you pay for

By nedorama

from Los Angeles, CA

Comments about Nady FWA-12 Powered Floor Monitor:

I bought one of these for our band as a vocal monitor, thinking that with the low price I could buy more later for the band. While everything on it works fine, the output level is so low even with the volume cranked that it wasn't usable. Our band goes from all-acoustic gigs to electric, and it wasn't able to keep up with either. We have since replaced it with a power amp and passive speakers, which gets the job done. If you're a solo acoustic artist looking to hear just yourself it could work; otherwise you may be better saving your money for a power amp/passive combo or higher power active monitors.

Nady cut corners on this one

By X89WyzN7j

Comments about Nady FWA-12 Powered Floor Monitor:

I waited awhile for two of these.(Backorder)The price was right and if they lived up to the hype I was in for good experience. It was not to be. Both monitors arrived via UPS and the shipping cartons were in fine condition. While removing the first monitor from the box I heard something rolling around in the cabinet. Same thing on the second one. Turns out that the drivers were sheered off the back of each horn. Either they were never attached properly at the factory, or they snapped off in what appears to be a routine & uneventful shipping process. I called Nady to give them a heads up and they tried to blame it on Musicians Friend. I think they cut corners on the horn design (maybe and extra dollar could improve the quality), or better quality control in China would be a good idea. Anyway, as always Musicians Friend was great on the return. I didn't reorder more FWA 12s. Even if they arrived intact, how are they going to hold up under normal gig wear & tear???? I have serious doubts. I'll be shopping around for something else, even it cost me more. A real dissapointment.
