I have 6 of these got them for my son's band in 2005, not to bad they did the job. His band broke up monitors got put up. He and I joined up after he turned 21 got us a in ear monitor system and put these up for sale, no takers. About two months ago we decided to host a show with 3 other bands, realized we needed these for the other bands so got 4 of them out, cheep horns gone bought 4 peavey 14xt drivers and WOW it was like we bought new monitors these now rock, would of been cheeper to get the drivers and not the in ears.Oh well, so if you buy these order up some new drivers at the same time and you'll have a kickin monitor system. Let's face it, just starting out & even later, band equipment is expensive! It adds up really quickly! My dilemma: I love playing and need equipment, badly. I am certainly not fond of the cheaper, quite thin plastic that this thing appears to be made of, and the one of the reviews eluded to how easiy the 1/4 inch connections break--they're right. Actually, I believe that even the nuts securing the 1/4 inch connections are made of plastic, which frankly surprised me. I learned this the hard way by stumbling over a mic boom while pushing the pedal for my guitar & ended up braising the cord slightly with my foot/ankle. That's all it took to see the nut pop off & hang there. I simply re-attached it & it continued to work--fortunately. Well, as these things continue to happen, I continue to replace them with parts of better quality. I am also not fond of the very thin grill, which is very easily dented and/or bent as well. I accidentally dropped a small flashlight on one of them, approx six inches away from it. That was enough to make me remove it & straighten the dent, etc. But hey, part of this is cosmetic and does not affect the sound one bit. Oh yeah, the logo also was glued poorly on one of them & just fell off one day, again, cosmetic. Anyway, I have three of them and they definately serve their purpose. The sound is good thus far, and I can afford to slowly upgrade them as they begin to deteriorate, which, obviously, they will. But guys, I anticipated this when I purchased them and figured on upgrading them or buying other, "top shelf" equipment as I went along. In reality, I needed to consider the price & what my needs were. If you are anything like me and my band mates--I mean, really. I'd rather have top shelf, however, they suffice and sound pretty good doing it. To sum it up, quality/durability is very lacking (especially externally), however, they fit our needs at this time. In truth, I'd consider buying another.

GOOD LITTLE MONITOR

By Anonymous

from Undisclosed

Comments about Nady PFW12 12" 2-Way Wedge Monitor Speaker:

Own 2 of these monitors, they get the job done for the price, horns were cheap but replaced them after they blew, subs blew as well but replaced them, the cab still looks great and the crossover works fine, now instead of 400w peak I have 400w rms and sounds amazing. At the end it comes out to be cheaper to get these monitors, use them and once you abuse them then jst replace the components. good buy! you cant go wrong when getting these

Comments about Nady PFW12 12" 2-Way Wedge Monitor Speaker:

Bought one not long ago and it didn't work right out of the box. The side had not been glued good and separated during shipping and pulled the wires loose from the input jack (cheap plastic). Instead of paying shipping and not having a way to haul it to town (motorcycle only) I fixed it myself. Had to replace the wires inside because they were so tight they pulled loose when the side separated from the front in shipping. Cheap made throughout! I won't buy another. Thieves stole it last week when they broke into my church

Not sensitive enough

Comments about Nady PFW12 12" 2-Way Wedge Monitor Speaker:

These monitors are not worth their price. The construction is good, other than the plastic corner protectors, but the components are not good. With a sensitivity of 90 dB 1W/1m, they are not terribly efficient. To get the same loudness as with a 96 dB 1W/1m monitor, you need 4 times the power. This means that what you save on the monitor, you lose on power amps. If you need a cheap monitor, get a Kustom 10?. If you need a reliable monitor, look to Yamaha or JBL.I had 4 of these, and the horns blow easily. They have good bass, and crisp highs, but the midrange is weak. To get the needed loudness, I drove each pair off a SPA850 bridged mono. They waste a lot of power.I have dealt with worse monitors, though. If you place this right, feedback is not a problem. The binding post/banana on the input is helpful, but if you have a banana plug in, the 1/4? jacks get covered.

Comments about Nady PFW12 12" 2-Way Wedge Monitor Speaker:

I purchased 2 of these about a year ago and am not very impressed. Takes alot of power to make them go and they can't handle much bass. Another brand at about the same price is much better!

Comments about Nady PFW12 12" 2-Way Wedge Monitor Speaker:

If you need a monitor DO NOT expect quality sound from this !! I was extremely unhappy with the sound quality , I have heard better sound from a transister radio !! REALLY !! Lesson learned . If there is an upside I will replace all that is inside with a real driver and horn.

Comments about Nady PFW12 12" 2-Way Wedge Monitor Speaker:

I bought a pair a year ago and have used them for club gigs. They have held up ok although I don't really abuse them. One of the horns broke after about 5 gigs. I just took it out and superglued it back together. My main complaint is that they just don't cut through the stage volume (and we really aren't that loud. We play through combo's for crying out loud!!) The bass player picked up a couple of JBL 10" monitors and they provide more clearity than the NADY 12's. Everyone I talk to says to move the the JBL 12's and I will be happy.

Not even worth the cheap price $

By EMOkid27

from Trenton, NJ

Comments about Nady PFW12 12" 2-Way Wedge Monitor Speaker:

After about a week of practice in my basement and 2 shows, the speakers blew. Handles 400-watts? Yeah right! I had the 3 daisy chained to a 400-watt amp! Now they just sit there and make static noises. Nady refuses to answer the phone. Worst investment I've ever spent on my PA system!

pfw12: Nady Quality Buy

By michael polk

from Charleston, SC

Comments about Nady PFW12 12" 2-Way Wedge Monitor Speaker:

What you pay for is what you get when you buy Nady products. The cheaper they are, the cheaper they will be. I have had a system of Nady speakers and the sound quality isn't that great, and for their size - they should be able to have a larger output.

Comments about Nady PFW12 12" 2-Way Wedge Monitor Speaker:

Bought three of these about three years ago, I had bigger brands and these rocked. I was nervous going with the cheaper, but I hadn't much money. They turned out great and are still going strong. After three years the only wear is on the cosmetics. They are great for a low budget.I read some the bad reviews, and I think it was just poor luck, bought an amp once it sucked, replaced it with the same one, it was awesome. So, take my word for low budget these get the job done and they last great.

good for the price

Comments about Nady PFW12 12" 2-Way Wedge Monitor Speaker:

I have a pair of these and for the price they have worked out fine. Even used them as part of the mains at a small gig. For the $$ they're not a bad deal at all. Not the thing for a tour or big gigs, but they sound decent at lower volume. The recessed handles makes them hard to carry, solved with putting an extra handle on the top.

Could be better, could be worse!

By Liftyourvoice

from Perry, IA

Comments about Nady PFW12 12" 2-Way Wedge Monitor Speaker:

We have used our PFW12's as a vocal monitor; occasionally with a bit of keyboard added. We power them with a 2x250 Behringer powered mixer; never putting more than 250 watts on the two speakers together. After just a few uses (less than 10) the crossover in one of them failed. When we opened the cabinet we found that this 200/400w speaker only had a 30 watt crossover. Soon the crossover in the other failed as well. We have replaced them with Dayton 2-way 2500 Hz 300 watt crossovers and have had no problems with them since. A good sounding speaker for just a little money.

Horrible Frequency Response

By Johnny Blues

from Clarkston, MI

Comments about Nady PFW12 12" 2-Way Wedge Monitor Speaker:

The horn and woofer are not matched well. I have to stuff a towel in the horn when I use it, plus, I have to use an EQ to fix the frequency response problems. It's a CHEAP monitor that will make you think you sound bad...

Comments about Nady PFW12 12" 2-Way Wedge Monitor Speaker:

I had the horns and crossovers blow. Replaced them with quality aftermarket parts no problems now. So if you just whant a cabinet and woofers that are ok, buy it. The rest is JUNK.
