I just received the PA last week. I didn't realize it would be quite so heavy (53 lbs.), but with the handle, it's fairly easy to roll. I had read the reviews about how flimsy the handle was, but I've found that if if you just extend the handle halfway instead of all the way out, that it gives much more support and still rolls quite well. I'm sure there's a fairly simple way to improve on the design and make it more durable.I bought this unit to use at home with 1 channel for vocal and 1 channel for an acoustic Alvarez with an ancient pickup that I installed in the 70s. The other 2 channels are for guest pickers or singers who may stop in from time to time.I bought a Danelectro Fab Chorus box on the same order (20 bucks, can you believe it?), and though some have said it's a lousy product, I find it to be a really great Chorus, and it fattens up my old Alvarez to the max.It would be nice to have a little more EQ selections, but with low, mid, and high adjustments on the Master controls, and low and high on the channels, you can dial in a really good sound.I'm running a HotSpot monitor out of the extra speaker jack. It's 16ohms, but speaker higher than 8ohms, or 8ohms, works fine. I tried plugging in one of my large speakers that I have for my other PA, and the sound was great. If you need a basic system for an acoustic instrument or two, and a vocal or two, this system should serve you well!

I'd like to comment on this product as far as the fan noise. I just received mine and the thing was grinding something terrible. I called tech support and they say to run this thing for 30 minutes to see if it takes care of it. I knew better with the noise its making. I opened up the unit to find the wires going up to the head were sitting on the fan and being drawn into it. A quick fix with a wire tie like it should have come from the factory and all is well now. If your unit is making more noise then it should I'd bet this is the issue. If its louder then a PC fan, something is hitting it. Save yourself the hassle and fix it yourself if you know how.As Far as Sound, this is a budget based portable sound system without a lot of bells and whistles to it. Not bad, but you get what you pay for.

Heavy with lousy reverb

By Bob Dumon-gjHqY

from New Bern, NC

Comments about Nady RPA-4 Portable PA System:

In addition to weighing a ton, this unit's sound quality is really lame. The so-called "reverb" effects are not worth using. It does not have phantom power, so you have to buy an external unit if you use a bell mic. I thought it would be more convenient than a separate mixer and speaker, but it isn't. Go with Behringer instead!

Fan's too noisy

By advocate44

Comments about Nady RPA-4 Portable PA System:

Fan's too noisy, so i don't recommend the RPA-4.power switch in awkward position: behind and almost to the floor. it wheels ok, but certainly not as easily as a wheeled suitcase, since it it bulkier and heavier. bulkier than i expected. power ok for small venues if you don't mind the whirring of the fan.

Comments about Nady RPA-4 Portable PA System:

I have owned the NADY RPA-4 for about 8 months and have been completely satisfied with it. I read one complaint about the fan being too loud but I cannot hear the fan on mine unless I put my ear down close to th unit. For the money, you can't beat it.Bob Rochelle,GA

Versatile unit with lousy effects

By Bob Dumon-gjHqY

from New Bern, NC

Comments about Nady RPA-4 Portable PA System:

I like the convenience of rolling in a complete PA system, other than the mics, but it doesn't provide phantom power so my AT "bell" instrument mic I use on my trumpet would not work with this unit. I've ordered a separate NADY Phantom Power unit for only $20. The fan is a little noisy, but was not bothersome to us. However the "effects" are horrible, and essentially non-existent. All they do is "distort" the sound, not in any way enhance it. To call these "effects" reverb is simply not accurate. Other than that it's plenty powerful enough, and I'm satisfied with it overall.

Great System

By Tom M.-TxaeB

from Oklahoma

Comments about Nady RPA-4 Portable PA System:

This sound system is great for what I do. I do music programs at local resthomes. This system is an EZ up and EZ down. The quality of sound is great. The only thing I would change is the wheels to make them a litle bigger. Thanks NADY for a great product.

Worth the money

By Secondchancejd

Comments about Nady RPA-4 Portable PA System:

I travel all over the state of Missouri to present to groups of 100+ children. This system works beautifully. I use a cd player for music and two mics for performers. Biggest disappointment is that the pull-out handle broke. (not well made in the first place) The unit is very heavy and now hard to roll since the pull-out handle is no longer usable.

No so great, then it died

By Unhappy Nady Owner

from Round Rock, TX

Comments about Nady RPA-4 Portable PA System:

The "effects" are virtually unusable, and the sound of the constant fan is particularly annoying. The range of features is nice, particularly the effects loop, tape in and outs, and line out and external speaker jacks. Unfortunately, mine just stopped working entirely after about 2 hours of use, and now I'm faced with the expense of shipping it to California for serivce. So much for economical. If you're looking for something like this, keep looking.

Nady

By David-SM7Tc

from Sterling, OK

Comments about Nady RPA-4 Portable PA System:

I purchased the Nady RPA-4 to reinforce our 4 member country gospel band. We run vocals through it and also use it to mic some of our acoustic instruments. Our Bass guitar and Mandolin players use separate amps, so 4 channels is just right. I also bought a couple of Nady SP-33 mics and they sound great through the system. The Nady RPA-4 has enough power to play a medium sized room (100-150 people), and does a good job reinforcing exactly what you put into it. On the down side, the unit could use a little more eq adjustibility and the continuous running cooling fan (for the amp) gets annoying. Also, If you want to rock your venue with a hair-splitting stereo mix, this may not be the unit for you. However, this little Nady nails it when it comes to portability, affordability, and use-ability for someone who simply wants a little amplification.
