Pre-amp surpasses any phantom-powered mixer I've ever used, truly a great buy. Worth checkin out if you need two mic preamps.
using this in the studio every day on acoustic instruments and drum overheads. An improvement on the stalk tascam dm4800 pre amps. this is probably not your go to tube pre for vocals but great to add some quality tube sound to your other instruments. I actually prefer it to the Studio Projects VTB-1.Over all very simple and strate ahead good sounding tube pres (I dont use their limiter)down side might be the level meters. pretty much useless but their are so many other ways to view level as signal comes into the daws that who really cares.cheeers!
I had an ART MP Gold preamp. In less than 2 years use in a heated room with gentle power-ups and power downs, the left channel gave out. They quoted me a cost of repair just shy of a new unit. I was dead in the water in the studio, so I got this box, thinking it would be a temporary solution.I AM BLOWN AWAY by the quiet, quality sound, the muscle of the gain, by the features. The chassis and controls are not very cosmetic, it's very use oriented, but this thing blows away preamps at 3 times the price. I'M VERY GLAD I CHOSE THIS AMP!
Used with Studio Projects C1 Mic and with Marshall V67 mic. The sound was quite warm with the C1 one and a little less with the V67 but not bad at all. The unit has almost no coloring in its sound, but gets things warmed up quite well. After trying a few preamps (audio Buddy, samson, VTB1 studio Projects, Presonus, Bellari and the very sucky ART MPS) I would say this is not a gold channel but you will get better quality sound than most other preamps in its price range, and you get two channels. If you are on a budget try this one.
I have been using the TMP as a guitar preamp for 11 months. It has a very pleasant warm sound that you can only get from tubes. I noticed it recently started producing white noise (microphonics) on channel one. I assume the tube is starting to go bad. I tried to contact Nady 4 times concerning this issue. As of yet, they have not contacted me. 3 of the 4 times were phone calls to their support group. They seem to be out to lunch. I have owned several other Nady products in the past, but given their non support, I will never buy another Nady product.
