This Nady U-81 OCTAVO wireless mic system is a professional 8-channel UHF wireless system which offers clear, natural-sounding wireless, providing you with 8 UB-81 bodypack transmitters with lavalier microphones. The Nady U-81 OCTAVO wireless system delivers eight discrete channels on selected frequency bands 902-928MHz and 944-952MHz for interference-free performance in any application or locale. The wireless mic system also features Nady's proprietary companding and low noise circuit for an industry best 120dB dynamic range.
Nady UB-81 Bodypack Transmitters
The Nady UB-81 bodypack transmitter is lightweight yet made of a rugged ABS housing. Each comes with a lavalier microphone operation with an integral antenna, and a locking 3.5mm mini-jack which provides secure connection for the mic or an instrument cable if you so choose. Other features on the wireless transmitter include convenient input volume control for proper level adjustment, or instrument operation without input level control, an Off/Standby/On switch for audio muting while the transmitter is on, and a status/low-battery level LED indicator. Each UB-81 runs on a single 9V alkaline or NiMH battery.

These mic's are AWFUL. We had our first unit replaced, because within a month, two channels didn't work. On the replacement unit, THREE channels don't work. Even when the mic's are OFF, they hiss and buzz and give off some kind of static interference. You have to turn off the body pack, AND turn the volume on it's channel all the way down. They click, pop, buzz, hum, and hiss all at random intervals. After two uses, the wires on each unit start to split and break. Terrible man. Terrible. We are not novices when it comes to mic's. We use these when we need more than our four Shure digital mic's. These are AWFUL. We've had at least two productions RUINED because of these things. Only because no matter how much you monitor them, they have static and crosstalk/interference issues you can't do anything about. I have at least a dozen gray hairs due exclusively to these terrible mic's. DO NOT BUY THEM. You have been WARNED.

This unit is a piece of JUNK! Cuts out constantly. You have to adjust gain to the point that feedback is overwhelming just to get a minumum volume output. I bought it for chuch dramas/plays. Please do not purchase this unit. You will regret it! However, Muscians Friend is GREAT - I sent it back and they did re-imburse me for the purchase. I have ordered many times from them before, and will continue to do so! Thanks Musician's Friend - You're the Greatest!

I bought this set for a touring comedy show that uses between 4 and 7 actors on stage. We had to use them unexpectedly on the fly for an outdoor event, and they worked pretty well. The day was windy and it played havoc with one of the microphones, making it ring a little with every gust. We were using a new sound guy, and he was able to adjust the sound pretty well despite his inexperience.
The sound was great. Mostly clear and no pops or interference. We had six on during a sing-a-long and with some minor adjusting, the group was loud and clear without any ringing or feedback. As with any mic system, you've got to ride the gain!
We used a line-in for the whole set and used the controls on the receiver to adjust the levels. I think the XLR setup might give us more control through the board, allowing us to set the highs and lows to individual likings. This is a great option to have for the future.
Nady is all about value while delivering a good product. The cases on the body packs feel a little cheap, but for the price that is a small complaint. The receiver is a great size with a low profile and you can mount it in a rack system if you need to. The control knobs on the receiver are small and also set low profile, which was okay, but smaller fingers are better for this. The upside is that the knobs don't stick out so there is little chance that a knob would break off during transport.
This is a good value for the money.
8 Mics and a reciever in one package for the cost of four decent ones.
