i have not yet been able to get this software to install properly nor have i been able to contact tech support. i tried to install it on my laptop and it crashed. i've tried installing on my brand new pc and it never makes it past updating system configurations. also it freezes up my cubase program during the initializing process. my ratings on the features are based on other reviews and what native instruments claims on the package. i have not yet been able to use it to see for myself.
It is probably well suited for electronic stuff. If you're thinking of buying it for the acoustic kits look at other samplers out there as the quality of acoustic kits is quite bad...
This sampler is just perfect. I was using EZdrummer for a while, took me ages to mix anything and it still sounded terrible. The reason? Ezdrummer has no individual EQ's for each drum, and the splitting channels didn't work at all. Therefore the only EQ I had was my master EQ for the whole thing within Cubase. First time I programmed drums with Battery, added in my guitars and bass and sat back and listened to it, i seriously cried. Each drum can be edited separately within Battery, so each one takes up what it needs frequency-wise, and NOTHING MORE. That combined with the far better top of the line samples equals NO MORE MUD! My recordings have gone from frustratingly bad to absolutely astounding just from using Battery! The other features, such as the Humanize and Articulation ones, also work excellent. If you want real drums but aren't a drummer, I totally suggest Battery. As for the earlier review, i haven't had any problems with missing samples or anything like that.
The software is a breeze to use. Everything is neatly arranged, and highly comprehensive. The German school of logic is simply impeccable. When it comes to the mysterious missing sample files, I just copied the sounds provided on Disk #2 into the main sound directory. NO sweat! By far, the best feature of the plug in is its ability to articulate the sounds in various ways, which can make a non-drummer like myself sound like John Bonham. It also works with Windows Logic 5.5 without any glitches.
The software and the samples are top-shelf. For a one-man songwriter and band I'm able to add rich percussion texture.BUT, their tech support is absolutely the worst I have encountered. I had to rebuild my DAW after a hard drive crashed. This was a virgin install from the OS up. One project could not load because certain samples were missing. After three weeks of email tag, where their tech support depart demonstrated the downside of drug abuse, the problem remains unresolved. As best as I can tell, they don't actually read the problem requests.Buy at your own risk. I'm a 20+ year IT vet, and have worked with many tech support teams. But _never_ have I encountered this level of incompetence.
