I have the Guitar Rig and both the rog kontrol and the cute mobile as well...awesome!Frankly,I also have top notch fx,tube pre amp,wah...from reputed companies and all I can say is that Guitar Rig is very close,if not almost at par with them,if not surpassing on some. It's also a great interface as well for keyboards,vocals,recording...Super!

Analog vs Digital: A guitarists revolution

If you want to step up to recording on the fly, this is your ticket to unlimited tone. Guitar Rig is exclusively made for guitarist and bassist but can also be used by keyboardist and vocalist. Guitar Rig is the most convenient way to record or play live on your pc and mac without all the hiss and latency pops that other sound cards produce. I own guitar rig 2 and now I stepped up to guitar rig 4 because it offers 14 amps, every effect you'll ever need, midi in/out,9 assignable foot switches,1 foot pedal and its black brushed aluminum housing protects the built in 24 bit 192KHz sample rate usb sound card. The software is a giant leap forward in the evolution of modeling amps, effects, microphones and speakers all which can be assigned and mixed via the built in mixer. You also get a tuner, metronome and a loop machine which allow for easy export. Guitar rig works perfectly in stand alone. I use it with confidence inside ableton suite 8 and cubase sx3 as a vst plugin. If you're a traveling guitarist like me,I'm honored to say that my guitar rig has survived being bashed, kicked, inspected by TSA,and dropped on cement. After two years of owning guitar rig,I'm still producing industrial anthems and customizing overdriven saturated distortion to keep the neighbors happy. I highly recommend Guitar Rig 4 because it's built very strong and it's a perfect sound card/guitar software tone solution that will be with you for many years to come.

Guitar Rig 3 update users beware

A certain amount of savvy and know-how are necessary to guarantee good results with Guitar Rig, as end-user systems and hardware vary.  Please find the Native Instruments Guitar Rig forum and do your homework. Also, a very important note is that for current Guitar Rig 3 users who want to upgrade to GR4 Pro, the current software build (4.0.8) does NOT include the SNAPSHOT feature. If you have vast amounts of presets that are programmed to use Snapshots, you'll be out of luck. Until (or IF) Native Instruments decides to bring this feature back, you may want to think twice before upgrading.  On the other hand, if your live performance needs are fairly straightforward, you should find Guitar Rig 4 Pro Kontrol edition to be a great product. Again, FIND THE FORUMS AND SPEND SOME TIME READING THE COMMENTS FROM CURRENT USERS!

I got this for Christmas, and WOW!! never going back!!  This thing has endless possibilities, over 40 effects and 9 assignable buttons along with a expression pedal!!  WHO ELSE DOES THAT????  I use a 13" MacBook Pro with it and have never had a problem with speed.  I even use it as a interface for GarageBand, and it comes through with amazing tones.  I would like it if maybe it had another row of buttons because i would like to have 8 besides the preset ones, but thats minor.  If you are looking for a pedal that can be a pedalboard, this is definitely the way to go!!!! No regrets!
