Award-winning Novation technology for the desktop computer.

The Novation V-Station virtual analog synthesizer re-creates the power and rich sound of the K-Station synth as a plug-in for the computer. The V-Station produces rich, complex, and harmonically dense sounds through its use of the Liquid Analog synthesis engine and presents a clear and responsive interface with the key dials and switches is just a mouse click away.

The V-Station software synthesizer gets the same real 3-oscillator flexibility as the award-winning K-Station, awesome liquid analog filters, 8-voice polyphony, tweakable simultaneous FX, and phat sounds only a Novation synth can offer. Acres of program locations and the flexibility of integrating it with your sequencer and/or disc-based recording setup make it a useful tool that's also a team player. Sounds created in the V-station can be downloaded into the A- or K-station and vice versa.

Getting the best from the V-Station is easy. All the primary sound-shaping controls are there on the main screen. Clear, concise, and simple. Recall a preset, tweak, and instantly save it in any of the 400 program locations. Need more? Just click and you'll find additional functions and controls on the other 3 screens.

3 powerful oscillators provide all the classic waveforms, including a sine wave for those sub-bass floor-shaking grooves. All waveforms feature a doubling ability which provides twin waveforms with no loss of polyphony. Oscillators may be set to unison or sync operation and can use FM for the generation of metallic or percussive timbres. A noise source is also included in the waveform engine.

Filters in the Novation V-Station deliver the rich, liquid sound of analog filters. Selectable low-pass, 12dB or 24dB cut-off curves with resonance and overdrive make it easy to re-create anything from a distorted TB303 to a tight, rounded bass patch.

Call up an instance of the V- Station and there are immediately a further 8 voices available with a new sound if desired. This ability to use multiple instances allows the V-Station to run as many multitimbral parts as the power of the host computer will allow.

The Novation V-Station adopts the sound structure of the Supernova Synthesizer to provide 6 simultaneous effects on each part on the multitimbral synthesizer. The effects include a distortion unit, stereo chorus, phaser, reverb, synchronized pan, and delay.

The arpeggiator supplies programmable speed, synchronization, and sweep range for each instance, allowing for comprehensive synchronization of time-based effects. Set up a few instances, hit a single key and trigger a wall of sound. All running arpeggiators and LFOs can be individually synchronized to MIDI Clock in different time signatures.

Covering a huge sonic range from searing leads to passionate pads, from delicate electric pianos to phat funky bass, this soft synth dishes up hard sounds.

Fattest/warmest VSTi around!

By Strep

from Anglia

Comments about Novation V-Station Soft Synth:

You have got to believe me when I say that analogue style soft synths do not sound better than this little beauty. It can produce some of the dirtiest lead sounds, lushest pad sounds and fattest bass sounds that I have heard to date from a soft synth. You, like myself, probaby use a particular synth to do a particular job and not really use it for much else (eg my Model-E generally doesn't play anything other than bass sounds and my Pro-53 tends to play lead, etc, etc) Well, all that stops here! This baby could very well be the only synth you need to create an entire track!! Whilst I think this is a fantastic synth and is extremely good value for money, it is not without it's down sides - mainly the fact that it has only 8 voice polyphony which can soon be eaten up (KS4/5 I believe has 16 voices - this would have been nicer but I guess it has to do with processor power) The processor power isn't the smallest I've seen, but then what do you expect for something that sounds this good? On the whole I'd say that the V-Station is well worth buying and if you love pads, leads basses and arpeggios - you'd be a fool to not get your hands on one!!

Great piece of Software.

Comments about Novation V-Station Soft Synth:

The sound engine, and the sounds themselves are excellent. the interface emulates the K Station nicely, and the value is pretty good. The idea of a modular software system is very appealing to me, and this a great value, for it output. The comparable hardware would be more expensive. I believe the convienience, flexiblilty, and performance make it a great idea. I recomend this product to anyone interested in a quality software synthesizer.

For my $ - my vote goes to the FM7, not the VS

Comments about Novation V-Station Soft Synth:

My initial impression of the V-Station was rather lack-luster. Sure, it has a few nice basses and leads and utilizes little CPU power. However, after just recently spending some time on Novation's KS4 hardware synth, I was left with the opinion that the V-Station is quite pale by comparison. I don't know why they limited the V-Sstation to only 8 voices, that's a shame. For the money, I'd have to recommend the Naive Instruments FM7 instead of the V-station. It features far more power and its sounds blow away the V-station in my opinion. By comparison, the V-station just sounds cheesy to me. Sorry Novation, I like your hardware, but I'm rather disappointed with the V-Station. Don?t get me wrong, it?s not a worthless piece of junk by any means, but I?d definitely say it?s over-priced when compared to an FM7. A few softsynths on the market just make my jaw drop, such as the FM7, Absynth, Reaktor, and Reason?s Malstrom. For me, the V-Station is not such an experience. I give the FM7 a score of 10. V-Station gets a 5. If all you need is an assortment of basses and some powerful monophonic leads, your score for the V-Station may be higher than mine.

Integration

By Leo-G8bqf

Comments about Novation V-Station Soft Synth:

The V-station is a software emulation of the K-Station and A-station. The interesting thing about this is that while other hardware manufacturers are releasing vintage emulations, Novation has an emulation of current hardware. Indeed, you can interchange the patches between the A, K, and V-stations. I believe this is why they limited the polyphony of the virtual synth. Combined with a K-Station or a ReMote, the V-Station becomes much more tactile, and for performance, this is top notch. The V-Station, in my opinion, has a lot of character. It is a newer sounding character, so if you're looking for vintage analogue sounds, I'd check out other options. Also, personally, I'd prefer a K-station or an A-station to this software version. You can get K-stations second hand for maybe fifty dollars more than this.
