Comments about Numark iDJ Live Dual Deck Hardware DJ controller:

Ok, so I am a mobile dj and I have been using my Numark Mixtrack Pro for a few years with serato video and I love it! I wanted to add something new to the dj gig, so I got an ipad and have played around with some of the dj programs as well as different effects processors and garageband to record. I recently got this mixer to go with Algoriddim's djay and vjay. It works good with djay and has the basic features you would expect from a small deck. With that said, there are no effects or loops on the mixer itself, so you have to use the ipad to get to them. I'm not complaining about this, but it would be cool to not have to touch the ipad. I think Pioneer makes a version of this that is fully functional. It's 3 or 4 times the price though. It plugs directly into the ipad and uses the power from the ipad to power the mixer. This really isn't a problem if you are mixing for about 5-6 hours. It lasts for a good long while. It also comes with a splitter for the headphones and main mix. It's pretty cool because you can cue like a regular mixer. The problem with the software is that it doesn't get all the bpm's right, which makes mixing tougher. It also works with the iphone. I haven't tried it yet, but I'm sure it works. It has a 30 pin connector, so if you have the new iphone, ipad or ipod, you won't be able to use this without a converter. All in all, I say it does what it says (which is a rare thing these days with stuff like this), comes with all necessary hardware-just download software-which costs but worth it, great addition to any set up. I use mine to manage my vjay program where I run different video effects during dj gigs.

It works - I'm not sure how to use it though. I guess I'll watch some youtube vids. It has potential to make fun things for youtube but yeah, it's just a toy.

I am new to DJing and thought that this would be a fun and not to expensive piece of equipment to mess around with. When my friend and I got a hold of this thing, we mixed for thrilling hours with ease. I was hoping to create original songs with this but it's for mixing only. Very fun, great value, and easy to use. Perfect for novices but might lack the features of those more experienced would want.

              Awesome Beat Mixer

              By bernard javier

              from Undisclosed

Comments about Numark iDJ Live Dual Deck Hardware DJ controller:

The iDJ Live Dual Deck Hardware DJ Controller is an awesome practice DJ tool for beginners. I am currently deployed in the desert, and by the time I leave here, I will have mastered a skill I've been wanting to have. I just received this product yesterday, and already 2 of my co-workers are already talking about getting their own units for themselves. This unit would have been rated as a 10 if it did not have the flaws I mentioned earlier. Then again, those flaws could also be seen as an advantage by some.

I just want to clarify though that this controller is a beat mixer and scratcher. It does not come with the capability to add side effects to your music. I bought this product knowing that. I just want to make sure that you do too.

I am impressed by this product, and I would recommend it to my friends who are looking to learn DJ skills without having to buy an expensive controller.
I give the iDJ Live Dual Deck Hardware DJ Controller a 9 out of 10 only because:

              1. It does not have a capability for it's own power source. It runs completely from the iPad. In one hand, it's great because you do not need to use batteries or electricity to use it. On the other hand, you are limited by your iPad's battery power. Because the controller is run from the iPad's recharge connection point, you can't power your DJ peformance at the same time - which means a limited amount of time for the practice/performance.

              2. The iPad holder that comes with unit is a separate piece of plastic sheeting that is bent-to-shape. I know that I did not pay for an expensive controller, but the picture made it seem that the unit had an iPad holder built-in to the controller itself.

              But:
              1. It runs from your iPad, iPod, iPhone or iAnything. You can mix anywhere! The controller fits into my medium-sized Camelbak bag. It's very portable.
The iDJ Live Dual Deck Hardware DJ Controller is made from plastic, so be careful not to drop it. It doesn't mean that it's built with cheap materials. Just do not expect to get an expensive-looking unit. It is, after all, less expensive.
The iDJ Live Dual Deck DJ Controller's price is great. For the price, you get to practice beat mixing and scratching. For me, that is an awesome capability without having to commit to a more expensive controller until I have acquired greater DJing abilities.

Understand though that you need to download an App for it to use on your iPad. It recommends the djay App from algorridim, but the controller will also use other Apps that you might prefer.

I use the djay App, and I am impressed by it. It is completely in-sync with the controller. I jump from the iPad screen to the controller itself, and vice-versa, with ease to mix music however I want to. Also, the djay App comes with recording capability - what more can I say?
