What it does it does an awsome job at although it's confussing at first once you get to know how to use it it's fine i just wish i had chose the ns6.
sturdy build i advise a case.

I will point out a few things missing in the reviews......

The Ipod doc will only support Generation 1,2 and 3. Ipod, Ipod Touch and so on change every month, so you can not truly blame Numark for the incaompatibilty issue of the Itouch 4.

You can not scratch or adjust tempo from songs played on the ipad, Itouch, Ipod. It is meant as a filler for bathroom break, play a mix etc. or someone has a song they want played from there ipod.
If you want to mix from an Ipod get an Ipod mixer! You have 2 thumb drives ports that are fully functional for MP3's!

Laptop software issues seem to stim from the laptop, not the Mixdeck! Updated drivers and firmware are available at numark.com and very easy to set up. You will need to do this!

Configure your laptop settings as required by the mixdeck instructions and you should be glitch free.
I had no problems with Traktor, Serato or Mixmiester once I configured my laptop PROPERLY.

Numark Cue DJ software was made for the mixdeck and works extremely well, video files are flawless!

You can scratch your CD's and files from the USB thumb drives!
Numark really got the platter sinsitivity right on these! For vynil DJ's, know how you would drag your finger on the record or hold the spendil to slow down the record to match tempo of the other song playing? Wow! Closest I have ever felt any digital player come to matching a real turtable platter! The tork sinsitivity on these is very acurate.

Scratching is not bad, does not give you that exact slow drawback of a real turntable but very sufficiant if you are not a scratch-a-holic while performing. If so..N7. If you are are truly mixing music for people to dance too then this is a great unit.

Mixing is nice and smooth. The start and stop features are awesome. This will start on a pinpoint!
You can also set it to stop in slow mo dragging the song to a slower and slower speed until it stops just like a real turntable!

The troubles of the Numark CDmix loading trays are long gone! This takes a CD so fast it is crazy, the reading time is very impressive as well.

Over all, if you need an all in one...this is it!

And NO I do not work for Numark lol! I just read the instructions, got the needed updates and configured everything the way its supose to be.
Controll for CD's, USB Thumb Drives, and DJ software via laptop and IPod / ITouch....
what more could you ask?
Keep in mind that if this deck weighed 40 pounds there would be many complaints.
I feel Numark did a great job of balancing weight and duribility! It is a solid unit and does not feel flimsy at at all.
What would all of these features cost for seperate units? Ipod dock, 2 CD Players, USB player dock,
DJ software controller, Mixer... have you done the math?

Awesome price for all of these features in one unit!

For the consumers that really pay attention to Reviews, well this is it. I did my own research on this Mixdeck for quite some time. I really made the call when research was enough. I purchased the product from musiciansfriend.com and best purchase ever. I am a beginner DJ starting off having a few gigs here and there. This product is the one, reason to be because it offers to connect from almost all sources of music including Ipods. I have connected my traktor software, Ipod, Cd/Mp3, and not to mention a flash drive(wow). It has great features and works with almost all software controllers. The Mixdeck is very durable and responsive once you have updated all the drivers and firmware. I had a bit of trouble having it sync with the Traktor LE but as soon as I updated firmware it detected and sync smoothly. I also purchased the protective case and fits perfectly. I made the right decision purchasing this as I was considering in comparing to purchasing a lower end. Numark is the DJ name and is very dependable. There are a few things I wished it had. 1) Bigger screen - hard to see sometimes even when deck is layed flat, have the screen be built on a newer version with a tilt bigger screen. 2) I wish it had extra pads or buttons to play recorded sound effects simillar to a soundboard. 3) lamp connection (certain buttons or knobs do not light up. Overall Awesome Product!
Great Features - has most of the common bells and whistles a DJ needs.
Great Quality product, firmware and support docs on numark.com website with all FAQ for support. Not much needed - firmware was really easy to update and install. Buttons, knobs, and wheel jog very responsive including faders.
Price is reasonable for the value and quality of the product. Do not go cheap on DJ equipment, do not make the mistake twice. Buy quality and you will not regret it. This product has limitless qualities for the price.

Well, I've never played CDJ's in my life. I've only used Virtual DJ with a Numark Total Control. I've only mixed and beat matched using the sync button. Within minutes out of the box I was throwing beats and getting absolutely perfect beat matches. This is awesome.
Has all the basic features you want and more.
It's plastic but still has some weight to it. Feels solid.
This is where it gets good. Other units with similar features cost way more. It sounds very good - the fx sound perfect.

In the first 30 days of use, the Numark Mixdeck froze up on me twice in LIVE situations. I'm a working DJ. I do weddings, and in the off-season, fill in at local bars & clubs. This is unacceptable. The unit was released at over $1000 retail, has balanced outs, and spec-wise is a professional piece of gear. Unfortunately, the implementation is not up to par. Aside from the ?freezes?, some buttons are buggy and non-responsive at times, for instance the scratch button, even on the new replacement unit I got? Just like the last unit, sometimes you have to push it multiple times for it to engage. Also, sometimes when you disengage it, it?s still on, even though the light is off. So you touch your platter to speed up the tempo and woops, scratch is still engaged. Thankfully Musician's Friend's great 45 day guarantee saved the day, or I'd be shipping it to Numark for 6 weeks like another reviewer. I emailed support regarding this, and another issue, and never heard back at all. The worst support (or lack thereof) I've ever received. That's how you treat people who give you money for your undependable buggy equipment? Ignore them? Sorry, but there are way too many choices out there, and from companies who value their customers, and wish to continue in business.If the Mixdeck was dependable, I'd give it 5 stars all day. It's a great concept, the functionality is great, it looks great, nicely mapped for Traktor etc. That?s all worthless though, when you have a packed dance-floor during someone?s wedding reception and not one button on the mixdeck will respond, or worse, your music stutters and goes off completely. Some would argue that Numark?s NS7 is their flagship, and therefore their ?professional? DJ system. The fact is, it?s not for the same market at all. I rarely need to scratch, I don?t need spinning platters, and I?d point out that Numark quietly recalled many NS7s because of issues. My advice would be to steer clear of anything from Numark at all.

We must all remember that unless Numark equipment is over $1,000, IT IS NOT FOR PROS. That's why the pro ones cost over $1,000. Numark understands this, so they make things good quality for more of people who think of it as a hobby or just use it as a second job. I have played around with the NS7, it is purely made for DJ's who like to scratch, mix, and just go insane for about 10 hours straight. If you're that type of DJ, then obviously you should be able to afford it since it doesn't take that long of a gig to get enough money to get halfway to the NS7. In general, this seems like a good machine if you just want to play around and do a gig here or there.

Numark features have always been impressive, but If it sounds too good to be true, it usual is and this unit is no exception. I've owned several NUMARK CD Players, each time quality got less dependable, and the MIXDECK being the most recent Is the BIGGEST DISAPOINTMENT. Used it at two gigs and each time I had a problem. The second time was really frustrating. The display went out and you could say I was flying blind. The real problem starts when you use the warranty service. I was on HOLD for half hour minimum each time before I spoke with someone. After that, they say they will call you back and respond any emails, which they don't. They promise repair in two weeks, with a week each way for shipping. It took my unit six weeks. That's not all, when I got it back, the right channel wasn't working properly. Which means, I was back to square one. Remember the shipping cost each time. I don' recommend the MIXDECK to anyone. Inferior made and not worth the grief dealing with the warranty service. After 20 hours of use I NOW OWN A REFURBISH UNIT. I'm not happy and I don't think you will be either. My best advice is DO NOT acquire the NUMARK MIXDECK unless you want an expensive HEADACHE!!!

To start off, you won't find a better feature set for the price. You're basically getting two CDJs that are also controllers, plus a mixer, for next to nothing. As far as feature set goes, I prefer these CDJs over a pair of Pioneers. Pioneer doesn't have loop controls (only basic loop in/out), and that's critical for me and my style of mixing. On top of that you have CD, MP3, USB and Ipod functionality. Dumping your recordings to an Ipod touch is simple. Full compatibility with Traktor and Virtual DJ. The thing looks great too.Now for the gripes:It's plastic. It's sturdy plastic to be fair, but you will need a flight case for this thing if you gig with it.The quality is a little sketchy sometimes. It needed a firmware update out of the box, and one of the knobs is a little twitchy. However, Numark has come a long way, and if you don't beat up your equipment TOO much, this will more than stand up to regular gigs.So if you're a controller-based bedroom DJ looking to expand your horizons, or, like me, a part-time DJ who doesn't want to sink too much cash into a rig, but still needs the pro features... then this is the setup for you. Even if you're a full-timer who needs a single, easy to setup rig with no wiring fuss.. this could work.If you're loaded with cash and have a big name, you might want to go Pioneer.

the platform is delightful, however right out of the box it has many many problems. before you even try to start mixing with the mix deck, go to the numark website and download the firmware update and load it, and the up to date drivers. about a 20 minute process but after the updates its perfect. the mixer is completely analog so you can't map it to traktor. so i would suggest using the cd decks or the usb ports. the decks could be better if they were made of metal. past those facts this system is by far the best thing for the price.

The mixdeck is a great idea..but i think numark put it on the market to fast..example being the update on the numark website i had to download to work out some annoying bugs the mixer came with stright out of the box...the mix deck is meant more for CD's...or maybe its just the traktor LE program that comes with it..but i wasnt crazy about the computer perforamce...when it comes to the cd mixing this mixer is really nice....the usb and ipod features are nice..but kinda a dud not being able to really control the ipod track...overall pretty happy i got it...gnna need some practice and time to figure it all out though
