One notable problem was the LAG or LATENCY in the program response. It gave the program a feel as if you were mixing two motorized turntables. Since I did not learn to scratch on vinyl, it cramped my style. My unit arrived with Virtual DJ LE (VDLE) Release 6. When I upgraded to VDLE 7, the latency problem was gone, but I was no longer able to record samples in the program. I will check with tech support on this. Another problem with with release 7, is that my songs seem to sound broken up towards the end. I think release 7 needs a little more CPU power than the previous version. To be fair, my laptop is a Toshiba Satellite with 1.6GHZ processor and 1GB of RAM. I plan to upgrade the PC soon. I believe this will probably correct the distorted sounds I'm getting at times. I didn't like the fact that you can't manually map the controller unless you paid extra for the software upgrade - must be for the Big Wigs. The problems I've mention seem small compared to the hours of FUN I have having with this unit.

The dual jog wheel function was a little tricky to get used to, but it was a welcome feature. I found the loop function tricky getting the timing right. For some reason the loop would not punch in and out on the correct beat. I find it easier to use while mixing though. I love the control over cue gain and mix. This eliminates having to wear a headphone half cocked on your head. One concern though - sometimes THE VOLUME CONTROLS LOAD A MAX when the software first comes initializes. It is a good practice to move all the volume controls to minimum before you start mixing. Your ears will thank you for that later. The browsing functions are great and fast. If you need to edit song information, you can do it on a fly with the right-mouse click. One feature that is not mentioned is that when you play files from your browser or other programs, the audio comes out through the Mixtrack Pro. So, there's no need to patch an audio output from your laptop at all. I wish they would have mapped the sampler to the unit in the initial setup. I think theprice is steep to pay Virtual DJ for that privilege.
I was skeptical about others reporting that the unit is plastic. Well, it feels heavy enough to be call professional and the knobs and buttons seem of good (plastic) quality. If you want heavy metal, I guess you have to pay for it. I have a mixing style and don't do a lot of high velocity scratching. If you do, you may want a mixer with a metal crossfade bar. I would not suggest dropping it, but if you don't sit on the unit, it should be fine. If you decide to put the unit back in the box for protection, make sure that you line up the speed faders, if you don't you could damage them as you put the unit in the box.
I find this unit priced about right for the value. I have much more control over my mixes than I did with IO Discover DJ controller. I love the large jog wheels and the many different ways you can control speed on your mixes. You can even change the KEY of a song to match it with what's on deck. With plenty of volume and mix control, I see great value in this product. The sound quality is much better since I'm not using my laptop audio chip for sound.

This product was a great price and would have been awesome to use. But computer would not read the usb for it 80% of the time. Traktor would not recognize it most of the time either. After reading other reviews. It sounds like this has happened for lots of other people as well. I took it back and got my money back.

Comments about Numark MIXTRACK DJ Controller:
I liked the Behringer units a lot , but this unit also works on PC's and Laptops running newer operating systems . The tradeoff is lack of jacks and a few less functions . The price , however , is very reasonable . The software is pretty good .
Over all it is a good deal for home and light duty portable performances .

Comments about Numark MIXTRACK DJ Controller:
This product I have to say is great for those who are starting out to DJ. When I first started I really didn't know what I was doing and the Mixtrack made it easy to learn.Coming with Traktor LE out of the box was great and instantly became a Traktor fan and still use the software.Nothing beats the price on this thing either. Only downside of it was that you had to buy the additional soundcard but luckily Numark has fixed that with the Mixtrack Pro.I'd defintely recommend this to beginning DJ's fer sure.

I still can't believe all the professional and multifunctional features that this unbeatable and affordable D.J. midi system offers for the ridiculous price it costs.Get yours while you can! This "touch sensitive wheeled" product works flawlessly with Virtual D.J. and other softwares around.Thank you NUMARK!BTW, I've been a professional D.J. for 24 years now, so believe me when I say that I have had lots of gear for a while now... That being said, I hope my review encourages more people to get theirs ASAP!
Comments about Numark MIXTRACK DJ Controller:
The first thing that you have to considered is that this is a low price product. With that in mind, the quality does justice to its price. Software: It works well with Traktor LE or PRO, and VDJ 7 Mac or PC. However, the mapping for VDJ7 is by far better than the one for Traktor LE. There are different mappings around the web so you might want to try something different or simply just make your own map to your liking. This can definitively change the experience that you might have with the mixtrack. If you don't want to mess around with mappings and customization, then go for the Mixtrack Pro with VDJ, which is more expensive, but with an integrated sound card. Some people have experienced slow performance but their computers are old and slow. I haven't had any problems with it so far.Hardware: overall it feels good, even though it's made out of plastic, the jog wheels are of a real CD size and let you do some scratching, the faders and knobs work good enough. The response on the buttons is fairly quick but at times they feel a little stiff. It's larger than the Omni control, but small enough to fit in a desk or a small DJ booth. Now considering the price and what you get for it, this is a good deal for those mobile or bedroom DJs interested in controllerism. You can do great at small gigs and parties. However, it really is not the ideal for a big club set up. But then again, for the price if you're going to be gigging in clubs the best choice would be the Trktor S4, which is almost $900. If you're on a budget, you can't go wrong with this.

I'm an Intermediate dj/producer, and i love this thing so much. being 13, I have to get smaller midi devices to fit on my desk. i about 3 square feet on my little desk for midi, and i have a korg nano key, nano pad, this, and a little logitech mic.i use virtual dj pro 7 and this thing works like it's made for the program. the traktor LE that comes with it is really cool too, and it works with both. you may need to replace the usb, as I did, but still, totally worth it.
