One problem I have always had with headphones is that eventually, from all the bending and twisting, the wires split or even break, diminishing the signal to the magnets. These feature a plug and screw in method that solves that problem and with the extra pads and cables, you really can't go wrong. There are better headphones out there but not in this price range!
Best value by far.Sound is comparable to Sony mdr v700.The quality is questionable because it is Numark, but they have been getting better with age. I recommend it.
In terms of value for money they are excellent, I can't see you being able to buy anything else of this quality for this price. Having said that they are really quite uncomfortable after quite even a short period of time - a real problem for anyone, whether you're a DJ producer or musician. Sound quality is OK, not very well balanced though, too much in the high/mid ranges. Having said that they can go pretty loud. Choice of cables and pads is great, folding design also works well. Sound isolation is nothing special but that doesn't matter if you're a DJ who just has his headphones crazy loud anyway. For budget DJ's that need something loud, compact and overall cheap, these are the ones for you. For producers, musicians or just Hi-Fi hobbyists I would definitely avoid because of their poor comfort and sound quality.
I was looking for an all around pair of headphones. One that I could use with my ipod and my portable guitar amp. With the extra cables this thing comes with along with the awsome sound, this was the set I have been looking for. I am not to sure how my input will help you DJs out, but if you are just looking for headphones these are the ones. I am telling you when I put these things on and pluged them into my amp I though my face would melt off.
First off, the sound on these is great. The bass is loud, which makes it super easy to match beats, and the cue volume on these can get really loud so you can hear over the speakers. The interchangeable earcups is a nice benefit for when you need to let sweaty cups air out. Also, the wire variety comes in handy very often as well for different types of listening. My only complaint about these is that I can tell it's only a matter of time before they break in some way because of the plastic construction. However, it seems like most DJ headphones are made this way, and it seems like these will definitely last the longest, and perform the best, out of the stantons and sonys.
i've had these for about 2- 2 1/2 years and used them constantly. They were used in the club every friday night and i loved them. the other reviews are pretty much right on. They are a great (low price) headphone which i would highly recommend. Just note that the highs/lows are about all you'll hear. i also just had my right ear short out which leaves me in the hunt for new headphones. so i would buy them again since i'm always using and abusing them (constant use i do take very good care of them) but i'm also going to look into my other options. i'd recommend them for anybody that wants a cheap, but pretty dependable headphone !!
I bought the PHX and it has a great dynamic-range (for the price), but; After about 7-8 months, I noticed the plastic hinge was falling apart, and later it broke completely. I treat all my stuff with great care, so I was very surprised! Don't buy these headphones if you don't like things that break VERY easally! :-(
I bought a pair of these Numark headphones expecting to hear a perfect balance of highs, mids, and lows. What I got was a very loud pair of Numark headphones that has tons of highs, and mids, but severely lacking in the bass section. With being a professional DJ I sometimes will have to match beats with just the bass lines, which with these headphones would make it very hard to do. Do believe them when they say that they are LOUD, because they ARE! They are very loud, but without bass which makes these headphones useless to me. I'm sending these back for a nice set of Denon headphones. Hate to have to cut these down, but they're just not worth the price that you have to pay for them.
The sound is terribly unbalanced--way too much highs!Within DAYS of getting the PHX's, 2 of the 3 optional chords shorted out. Everything else held up well for over a year. I used them a lot too--DJing, playing drums, listening to music. The adapters are very handy. The frame has never broken on me but recently the inside of the phones shorted out and I only have 1 ear working so they're trash now. Yet, these phones held up well and they are really loud! I buy a lot of Numark and it seems they make great products but their parts are terrible.
