Mic is a Great Buy!!

Comments about MXL V87 Condenser Microphone:

Microphone is amazing! You should definately buy one, and buy me another one!
Microphone is a great one, with only 8db pad for silence. Very low noise, especially with mogami cable. I have a mogomi 6 ft gold cable, and the inside of v87 is also mogami.

Comments about MXL V87 Condenser Microphone:

This mic is a great value for the money you pay. It is clear and picks up everything honestly. It is a little heavy on the S sounds from time to time. But, that's the only complaint I have. Overall, warm and accurate sound is what this mic means.

Comments about MXL V87 Condenser Microphone:

I am wanting to record classical guitar(nylon using fingertip and nail) and vocals simultaneously as a first goal. Secondly, to be able to record single tracks; classical guitar then vocals to mix. Thirdly, drum overhead. It works good for drum mic's. Too noisy for quieter work. Side by side noise comparison with a cheap Sterling Audio ST31? Both are noisy. But look at the equivalent noise specs and how wide apart the dB is.
V87 Equivalent Noise Level: 8.5 dB (A weighted IEC 268-4)
    Sterling Audio ST31 Equivalent Noise: < 28dB SPL " A Weighted
That's why I bought the V87, I thought that the difference in the dB would be a vast improvement on what I already have. I'm really bummed that is isn't any quieter than what I already have.

Comments about MXL V87 Condenser Microphone:

This mic has a great sound for the price. I run Sun Birth Music Studio in Tokyo Japan. This is my go to mic for people getting into the recording side of their music. It has an amazing good sound paired with the right kind of cables. Don't sell yourself short on that part. The most expensive mic there is will not sound good with a cheap cable. The cheapest mics there are can sound amazing with the right preamps, cables and software. This mic is right down the middle good. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a great mic for the price. YOU CAN'T GO WRONG WITH THIS ONE. BUY IT!
