Comments about Peavey 24FX 24-Channel Mixer With Effects:
I did a lot of research before buying this mixer. Tried all the known brands....Allen & Heath, Mackie, Yamaha, Soundcraft, etc. The features on the Peavey desk won me over in the end. Oh, and the great price had something to do with my decision too. Dual effects banks, 4 monitor sends, USB recording, channel inserts, and more than enough channels for most situations. I've had mine for a year and it's great.I agree with the previous posts though, that the manual lacks detail. I also had difficulty finding a road case but found an SKB case that although slightly oversize, fits the desk nicely with a bit of room to spare for other bits and pieces.I wish the onboard CPU was a bit bigger too. There are two effects banks in which you can utilise up to 3 effects in a chain in each (6 effects simultaneously), plus the feedback ferret, plus an onboard parametic EQ. Some effects use more CPU than others (reverb for example) and as a result you can sometimes only link 3 or 4 effects together. Maybe I'm just being greedy tho. The effects sound great. Very tasteful.Overall I'm very happy with my purchase, and my critcisms are minor and in no way detract from the pleasure I get from owning and using this desk.

Board is wonderful.....except the CPU can't handle it. Result....intermittent cutting out of mains in middle of show.

If you're looking for a good mixer for live applications. Want USB, Feedback farrel(sp), control, grouping, loop in/outs, good pre-amps, reliability, and a good set of global effects - get this unit. You won't be disappointed. I have run this with the band I'm in for about 5 months and it works great, reliable, and I have purchased 15K worth of other stuff and this has not even entered my mind for replacement.Built well and great control - I love the feedback farret. Worth every penny I spent and probably a couple hundred more... (but don't tell Peavey).P.S. Windows XP picked up the driver without install, disc, or issues. Truely plug & play for Win XP.Oh - And don't have some music guy tell you that USB is overrated on a mixer - it has so many functions that you can't even imagine until the option is given that you can't help but think those guys are either salesman or ignorant.Go PEAVEY! Way to make something fantastic affordable as usual.
Comments about Peavey 24FX 24-Channel Mixer With Effects:
overall a great bang for the buck. Only issue is that the manual lacks detail in the functions that are built in. It takes months to figure this thing out by trial and error. Another complaint is the "game boy" sounds you get when adjusting the EQ during a mix. The memory stick recording is an awesome function for catching live performances. Never thought I would use it. 20 Mic pre's is great and they are very quiet.
Comments about Peavey 24FX 24-Channel Mixer With Effects:
Peavey's FX series boards are the best bang for the buck! I run a small pro sound company and was using a Mackie 32 channel board for years, but got tired of lugging it around. I bought a Peavey 16Fx to use for club dates and was so happy with it that I just purchased the 24FX for handling larger gigs. The onboard effects are far superior to built in effects of other manufacturers. The dual effects processors are totally programmable and can be saved for later recall. The ouput processing saves me tons of setup time and most times I don't even bring an eq or outboard gear to a gig. The USB drive on the back can even be used to record a band directly to a USB device and you can also use the drive for playback of MP3s.The only fault I can find with the product is that the owners manual should go into more depth regarding the use of the USB connections, but I managed to figure it out anyway. The 24FX has two BNC lamp sockets, but for some reason the 16FX doesn't have any. I still haven't grasped Peavey's reasoning for that. The only other problem is that the road case manufacturers haven't started to make cases for the boards yet and you may need to custom order one. I'm sure they'll catch up. You can't go wrong with these boards! They are priced right and have tremendous added features that no one else is doing at this time.
