Peavey

2-channel power amp delivers 840W at 4Ω, 1,490W at 2Ω per channel.

Part of Peavey's IPR Series, the IPR 3000 Power Amp uses an advanced design that allowed Peavey engineers to dramatically reduce weight while increasing output power, reliability, and thermal efficiency. The rackmount power amp has a resonant switch-mode power supply and a high-speed class D topology that yields supremely high audio resolution and productivity.

The Peavey IPR 3000 features 2 channels with independent, 100Hz crossovers and produces 440W per channel at 8Ω, or 1,490W per channel at 2Ω. Peavey's exclusive DDT speaker protection with multipoint clip sampling leads a protection-circuitry suite that also includes DC, Temp, Signal, and Active safeguards, all referenced on the front panel with LED indicators. The power amp also features a variable-speed fan housed in a lightweight aluminum chassis.

One outstanding amp!

Features:

My hat is off to the Peavey engineers with the IPR 3000.  The audio amplification is crystal clear and the weight is incredible.  I drive a set of 600 watt 4 ohm cabs with this amp for five hrs at a time in a live sound application nearly every Fri and Sat with no overheating problems.  The extremely bright LED indicators on the front are easy to see in a smokey bar and the DDT circuitry warns you when you are pushing your cabinets a little too hard. Using this amp in combination with my PreSonus ACP 88 compression, I get a clean; distortion free sound from my cabinets.  The weight of this amp is only 7.5 lbs which can be deceiving if you are used to something like a QSC 2450 or the like.  Other amps that produce this much power weigh 20+ lbs and when you have a whole rack of them, you can get a hernia moving them around every weekend.  A rack of 3 Peavey IPR 3000 amps weighs the same as 1 old-technology amp.  For those that are reading this review and others that may not be so good, I would remind you that like most things...these amps are assembled by humans...and anything man-made is prone to failure. If you get a bad one...take it back and get a new one!

Quality:

It's man-made, so it can fail, but the initial quality out of the box seems good.

Value:

Great price for what you get.  Similar amps with the same output power rating are a few hundred buck more.

First one was dead. The replacement works so far. Packaging not good.

When I got my first IPR3000 it wouldn't work right out of the box and had to return it. Wouldn't even come on at all. I started to get a Crown in it place but cost a little more, so I reordered another IPR3000. When I got it I wasn't impressed with the packaging. The tape appeared cut down the lid of the box and wondered if it was a returned amp. Also a hole was torn in the plastic sack the amp was in made me wonder some. Peavey should pack them better no doubt! I crossed my fingers and put it in the rack and powered it up. It came on, thank God! So, far I haven't used it alot yet but sounds quite and works good so far.

Quality:

Give it a 7 because of the first one being defective and the packaging.

Value:

Seems to be built good. Very light in weight. Got a good price with coupon deal.

IPS 3000 Power Amp - Love it

| Review By: John Petingalo | 5 months, 2 weeks ago

Features:

I love this product, I really love how it has that blue glow to it from the inside light, it just adds a nice touch to it.  As far as the features of the power amp it self, I have nothing to complain about, it has amazing features on it, such that I can't break it if I accidently do something wrong (Cooling System, Distortion, Thermal, Incorrect Loads).

Quality:

Amazing, not much more to be said, it looks great, sounds great, is great, I have once again no complaints.

Value:

The same as above, it is really worth it, I have speakers I can use at all different sizes depending on the venue, making it very flexible to go to smaller places, with just one power-amp and and size speaker that I require.

Overall:

As i stated earlier, the power amp is amazing, I really like the visual it has when it is off and turned on, just adds an awesome feature to it, the actual features of the power-amp now.  It has plenty of power for me to go up in speaker size, It has everything I require to play, the Specification Sheet that came with it is really useful for knowing what it has and what it doesn't have, which is already listed somewhere on this product on the site.  I really can not wait to use this thing at one of the bigger venues in my area, then I will be amazed at its abilities.
