Best board I've owned!

By davidb1985

from Nebraska

Comments about Peavey PV 20 USB Mixer:

This board is great depending on what your application is. I am a professional DJ and run music off of my laptop. I also run sound for bands in bar settings and my wife plays piano and records sometimes. This board is PERFECT for those applications. First off, it's important to note that this board interfaces extremely easily with a computer. The drivers automatically install in seconds. The board actually installs itself as a sound card which makes it work with all your computer applications. I use cool edit pro to record and PCDJ to DJ. It will work with everything! You don't have to fiddle with your computer settings just plug it in and it works. You get amazing perfectly accurate sound to your amps from your computer. Also, if you're like me, you've tried recording off the "line in" jack on your computer using an 1/8" to 1/4" adapter. That works but you lose sound quality and you usually end up with some hum. With this board, you don't have any hum and you get clean and accurate recording and you can playback right through your sound system instantly.Last application, bands... It works well, and you can hook a laptop up and record their show extremely easily. It won't do multitrack recording which is the only bad part. It has two monitor sends which is plenty for most applications. Oh and the effects are very clean and usable. Also, if this is your first board, it's a great starter board as it is simple. My first board had so many bells and whistles that I didn't know how to use it just overwhelmed me. Now I consider myself a professional and this board, as simple as it is, still does everything you would need.

Decent for what it is...

By boogiemonk

Comments about Peavey PV 20 USB Mixer:

I recently purchased this mixer. It works well, the slide controls feel good and it seems to work fine. However, if you are looking for a mixer to run into your computer then you should be aware that this might not do what you want.I bought it to use with Cubase Studio 4 and sadly, after running the USB cable out to the computer and running the band through a song I made a disheartening discovery. either Peavy does not send, or a USB cable isn't capable of sending mutliple tracks to the recording software. By that I mean, I set up individual tracks for each instrument and we appeared to be rfecording on them, but during playback through the monitors I turned the lead guitar all the way down and could still hear it bleeding through onto the other tracks, The same story with all the other instruments. We had no live mics running, every instrument was running threough it's own amp striaght into the mixer (we use Roland V Series electronic drums). The mixer is a great little live sound mixer, but it is not for the home recording studio as I felt that it was from the Peavey advertisment of this product. At best it will record two tracks at a time. As I said, if you are not planning to record live through it from the USB cable, it's a decent mixer.

Nice Mixer!

Comments about Peavey PV 20 USB Mixer:

I got this more or less just as a drum mixer. I have a full mic set up for a seven pc. drum set. Plus over heads, and an extra mic on the high-hat. The mixer still leaves me with extra room for other mics and inputs. It is great to be able to have the extra channels for your work station. I have not used the USB on it. So I cant help you with the quality there. But for a basic use, THIS IS A GREAT BUY!!!

Comments about Peavey PV 20 USB Mixer:

With the coupon redemption, this was a great value.
We are a 4-piece classic rock band that plays shows every weekend in medium size venue. We needed a new board as well as additional channels. This board works great, and is a sleek design easy to operate while onstage.

Many of our audience regulars remarked on the improved sound as to the vocals. We are glad we chose this board.

In the realm of church sound you have to realize that the people running the board are not highly trained professionals. Having a soundboard that is clearly labeled, and simple in design is a huge plus.

Comments about Peavey PV 20 USB Mixer:

Every Mixer we had did not last more than 2 years. We gig an avg of more than once a week and the equipment take a beating. It got rather expensive to repair/replace mixers so a friend recommended we try the Peavey PV-20. My response was 'what' that cheap thing!!! So I borrowed his for a gig and used 18 channels all night long. The unit held up very well so I bought it from my buddy. All I can say is that we have ben using it for 3 years and my friend owned it for 2 years and this mixer just wont stop amazing us. Its been dropped, several times literally used and abused and still won't fail. I bought a second one (new) as backup. Built tough like a PIG. In conclusion, this mixer will pay its way in performance year after year and wont let you down.
