We use them as tops in a classic rock band and they sound pretty good but not great. If this isn't what you can afford, buy them. One warning - they have fuses and they do blow - easily. The good thing is they seem to protect the horn, the bad thing is the fuses can't be found and must be ordered from Peavey for $3.5 each - there are two in each cabinet. Automotive light bulbs from auto store can be used in a pinch but they are lower watt and blow faster. Kind of a pain.

Comments about Peavey PV 215 Dual 15" 2-Way Speaker Cabinet:

We are a 5 piece cover band and were looking to upgrade our entire sound system (from Phonic 740 with Phonic 15" mains) so we paired two of these with a Peavey powered mixer and couldn't be happier. We were lacking the power we needed for outdoor gigs and were even maxing out the sound with our existing setup indoors. We debated on a box with a single 15" for portability reasons, but we are glad we went with the bigger box with 2 15"s. Plenty of power and great, clear sound. Our regular crowd said it was the best we've ever sounded.

Good PA Cabinet

By Phyllis Rooks

from Undisclosed

Comments about Peavey PV 215 Dual 15" 2-Way Speaker Cabinet:

You can't beat this price, this cab is HUGE, big sound, high quality plus it will fit any look and make you give off that professional musician feel. I've had it for a few months now and haven't had a single problem and I bought mine used if that says anything for its durability.
Definitely a high quality sound at such a loud volume, if you need a PA Cabinet for a show, or just a band practice I'd recommend buying this one.

Comments about Peavey PV 215 Dual 15" 2-Way Speaker Cabinet:

Back to Basics, Let's face facts!
After playing in bands for almost 50 years and Boston area drum and bugle corps as a child. I have been a drummer almost since birth. That being said. As I start playing in bands many years ago a guitar player bought a Peavey amp for his guitar. Then I buy a Peavey Board and PA system. As time goes on I share the stage with many players and or acts you probably bought albums of.And Peavey amps were always reliable and always THERE ! Now in the last 10 years I am back to regular size venues. When for myself instead of hiring a major sound company, I bought every type of PA from JVC, to Yamaha to 4 Bose Poles with boxes. We hit the stage of a fair size show of about 2,5000 people and I gotta tell ya 4 Bose poles were the biggest mistake of my career.. When finally I said, screw it all, I sold them all at a loss and went back to Basics. Peavey,Peavey and Peavey.. So in short my entire house and floor monitors and board are all Peavey...Because no matter what they seem to go through they always get the job done, and if there ever is a problem, it's 9 times out of 10 very fixable or minimal. So now that I'm back to playing the clubs and smaller venues. I'm taking PEAVEY with me WHEREVER I GO...Tough ! Rugged and Reliable! So it's GO BACK TO START...GO PEAVEY...Or go HOME!! JoJo Johns~ Bandleader and drummer for Armed & Dangerous, Voyeur and The Nelson Beck Group, Hero's, and an opening act or filler for a cast of thousands....Peavey Gets the job DONE! BAR NONE! J2.....

awesome feature

By texan heat

Comments about Peavey PV 215 Dual 15" 2-Way Speaker Cabinet:

my favorite feature about these speakers(pv 215)is that the high frequency driver is protected by the sound guard internal system(fuses),so you dont have to worry about your high frequency, and as far as the lows, pretty decent,no distorcion so thats good,so far i`ve been happy with mine, i`ve used them for two years and they still work and sound great, so, for the price i wouldn`t hesitate to buy them, the price is perfect.

Best loudspeakers for their price

By Infernus

from Oregon

Comments about Peavey PV 215 Dual 15" 2-Way Speaker Cabinet:

I now own two of these and have never been more satisfied. You can crank them to uncomfortable levels of volume and they barely distort the sound. Our metal tone doesn't become painfull or muddy at high volumes. It's just painfully loud.If you can't afford the SP series, then get these. If you think JBL's are a little spendy... GET THESE! My speakers crank to the same volume as JBL 215's and the latter DO NOT sound $400 better!

Comments about Peavey PV 215 Dual 15" 2-Way Speaker Cabinet:

I've always liked Peavey gear and these speakers I just bought are Peavey quality and value represented. Hey, I know these are not 1,000 watt speakers and I use them properly. The result is a good, clean sound with crisp highs and mids and bass reproduction good enough for indoor events. As everyone has said, if you need more bass, get some subs. My system is set up that way so the Peavey 215s handle voices, guitars, pianos, high drums/cymbals and horns, the PV118 subs handle kick, floor and mounted toms and bass guitar all separated by the drive rack p.a.+ active crossover. I know these are made in China but really, what isn't? The specs and performance are there for these speakers. I'd buy them again. I've run sound for my bands and others for over 35 years. I know good gear.

Be Carefull

By Tech Guy

from Johnstown, PA

Comments about Peavey PV 215 Dual 15" 2-Way Speaker Cabinet:

I own 4 of these. I've had them for almost a year. I do DJ work. These aren't a bad sounding speaker. They have a fairly smooth response from about 60hz. on up to 17khz. The bass rolls off quickly below 60hz. I have to use seperate subs to handle the bottom end. My biggest gripe is the power rating. If you push 700 watts rms through these speakers your going to smoke'em. I was pushing almost 700 clean watts thru them when I started to smell smoke. I turned down the volume quick but the damage was done. Both woofers in one cabinet were damaged. The horn still worked ok. There are 2 large fuses on the crossover board. Neither fuse blew. I found out later that these speakers are really 350 watt rms. I should have known something was wrong when they didn't get any louder past 400 watts rms. Overall for the price I'm happy with them. Just don't try pushing an honest 700 watts rms thru them. After 23 years of DJ and live sound these are the very first speakers I damaged.

Comments about Peavey PV 215 Dual 15" 2-Way Speaker Cabinet:

I bought a pair of these a couple of years ago and still use them several times a week. I have them hooked to a powered mixer amp that puts out 800 watts, we feed guitars, vocals, and some drums through them and they work awsome with no noticable distortion. For the money, you won't find a better buy.

Comments about Peavey PV 215 Dual 15" 2-Way Speaker Cabinet:

I got a set of these PV215's and was quite pleased at how good they brought out more of the low end frequency's. Maybe it's the 2 15's together, quality of the speaker....or maybe my others just didnt have what it took. I do have good subs, but the subs were just handling the very low sub sonic sounds and it just seemed like something was missing. These did the trick for the sound and the price made them a no brainer. If you're on a budget, and most of us are, at least give them a try and you can judge for yourself. No theyre not high end....but far from a low end cabinet also.

Comments about Peavey PV 215 Dual 15" 2-Way Speaker Cabinet:

These are great speakers. I bought a pair of these about 5 years ago and have used them as mains for 3 or 4 different bands I've been in. I play primarily in classic and alternative rock bands and we play it loud. The quality of the sound is great even at high volumes. I pair these with a set of PV118 subs and four PV112M monitors for my current band. We use them both indoors and outside with no problems. They're big and heavy, but they sound great and the hold up over time. For the money, I just don't think you can find a better deal.

Comments about Peavey PV 215 Dual 15" 2-Way Speaker Cabinet:

I tried them live last night for the first time and was very pleased. They are great sounding cabs for my Hammond XK3, and I like the sturdy way they are built and of course the great price. The XK3 is played quite often in the middle octave and with lesser cabs these frequencies can get a lost in a live situation so you need to push out more power than the guitarists who sounds easily project. I am only pushing 500w ( not the full 700 W ) into each side and they are loud with no distortion at all. But buy yourself some sack trucks to haul them around as they might break your back.

Pretty Darn Good

By xdavex518

from Gloversville, NY

Comments about Peavey PV 215 Dual 15" 2-Way Speaker Cabinet:

I got a set of Peavey PV 215 Dual 15" 2-Way Speaker Cabinets about 2 months back and they sound better than I thought they would.I use them about 5 times a month for running sound for hevay metal bands and they hold up great. I use a PV1500 power amp for them. I've pushed them as hard as the amp will go and they did not fail. My only two complaints are that 1: they are kinda big and oddly shaped so its hard to fit them in my truck with all my other equipment. 2: the handles are placed a little to high for you to lift them properly and its hard to move them up stairs. I would recommend these to anyone. good price, grate product.

Moving air

By wvuberbill

from Nitro, WV

Comments about Peavey PV 215 Dual 15" 2-Way Speaker Cabinet:

I was planning to buy two single "15" Peavey cabs, but caught these on "scratch & dent" sale. Every thing I read as I got ready to put my system together said if you want a lot of sound, move a lot of air. So when I could get two "15"s for the price of one...And they do move a lot of air. We run them about half the potential volume with a Behringer 3234 board and a Nady XA1600 power amp. Clean and loud without blowing people away. We have used it at four outdoor events and it has never been lacking. Peavey will not let you down!
