tonal control vocals& PRS

By TONAL CONTROL PRS/LES PAUL

from Birmingham, Alabama

Comments about Peavey PV 8 USB Compact USB Mixer:

1ST OFF PAID 140.00 +TAX AT LOCAL BOUTIQUE STORE BUT IT WAS ONLY CAUSE MOST WERE BUYING NON-USB TYPE,NOT ONLY PLAYING LIVE BOTH VENUE/PRACTICE BUT THE EXTRA$ FOR THE USB MODEL IF YOU HAVE COMP. IS GREAT, DID'NT EVEN HAVE SOFTWARE WHEN I PURCHASED, BUT DO KNOW AND PURCHASE OF 5$ CABLE AND I WAS LAYING DOWN TRACKS EVEN BURNING DEMOS, BUT B4 U GET TO THAT RAN MY XLR TO XLR CABLE FROM MIC TO MIXER AND OUT TO PA HEAD, MADE HUGE DIFFERENCE OVER STRAIGHT TO PA WHICH HAD ITS OWN EFFECTS BUT HAVING A KNOB TO CONTROL THE db+/ MADE ALL THE DIFFERENCE IN MAKING MY VOICE WHAT I WANTED, BEST HELPFUL HINT I COULD GIVE IS 2 THINGS LIKE ALL OTHER EQUIP. TRY TO GIVE AS MUCH SPACE BETWEEN MIXER AND PA, AND IF PLAYING GUITAR KEEP AWAY FROM AMP, NOT BAD ON PICKING UP SIGNAL FROM OTHER EQUIP. BUT IF U THINK OF REAL STUDIO, MIXER IS ALWAYS BEHIND GLASS IN SOUNDBOOTH WHICH IS POINT TWO NO MATTER WHAT KING OF MIXER U GET HAVE A SECOND PERSON TO PLAY W/MIXER WHILE U SING OR PLAY INSTR. WHEN ALONE GOING BACK AND FORTH IS A HEADACHE BUT IF SOMEONE TURNS THE KNOB & HITS SWEET SPOT U CAN GIVE QUICK THUMBS UP AND THEY CANT MOVE TO NEXT KNOB AND W/THE AMOUNT OF INPUTS U HAVE U CAN LETS SAY LEAVE #1 INPUT THE WAY IT WAS SET . THEN SET 2 TO LIKE RYTHYM/BACKUP VOCAL MIC AND SAY THREE TO LEAD GUITAR AND SO ON AND I USE LITTLE PIECE OF TAPE AT TOP OF EACH INPUT WHICH JUST SAYS MIC1/MIC2/AXE1/AXE2/KEYBOARD YOU GET THE PICTURE PLENTY BIG FOR 5 MAN BAND, AND AS I SAID GO AHEAD W/USB MODEL THAT WILL BE NEXT THING U GET INTO I GUARANTEE THUMBS UP PEAVEY 8 USB

Picked it over Jamhub!

By Vernonstock

from Virginia

Comments about Peavey PV 8 USB Compact USB Mixer:

I was recently in the jamhub que and decided that buying a PV8 and a headphone amp (Presonus) would better serve my needs. Don't get me wrong, the jamhub looks like a cool tool for its intended purpose, but limited utility outside of a practice space, long waits for specific units, and price were significant detractors for my circumstances. In any case, I'm glad I picked the PV8. I found the unit to be surprisingly robust, the mic pres clean, and the connectivity options ideal for two to three musicians. Recording via USB worked well with Logic 8, though I still have to figure out how to incorporate the mixer in playback. Unlike the jamhub, I can't get individual musician mixes out of the PV8/Presonus combo. Also, I have fewer inputs. But I do have USB, enough inputs for my needs, clean sound, and I could (and probably will) use the PV8 for small gigs. Saved a couple hundred bucks, too. Not too shabby.
