I bought the Peavy PV8 a few years ago for a decent price. I had had experience with other cheap small format mixers before, specifically ones from Yamaha, and found them too quiet. The Peavy performs well, has low noise, mic preamps sound decent to my ears. However, after a while the master output slider started to crackle when I moved it up and down. Its a real shame, because I'll have to buy another mixer if I want to play live gigs and not be embarassed. Really cuts into the mixer's value.

Comments about Peavey PV8 Mixer:
This is the absolute BEST non-powered mixer you can buy in this price range, in my opinion. I've had them all over the years: Mackie, Behringer, Yamaha, Soundcraft, Tapco--you name it. None comes close to matching the versatility coupled with rugged construction that this PV8 has. You cannot go wrong using one of these in your studio or, like I do, on stage with my multi-keyboards.

Comments about Peavey PV8 Mixer:
PV8 Mixer: price is reasonable, small, portable, easy to use, works and sounds great, looks nice, sold on Peavey equipment. Sometimes Peavey makes their equipement heavy but they are road worthy, work horses and very reliable. I also have a Peavey 6 mixer and amp, power amp and speakers had them for a few years and never had any issues with anything Peavey makes, always very reliable.

Comments about Peavey PV8 Mixer:
I bought this mixer recently and it is great. The sound is perfect. It was smaller than I imagined it to be. I had a different Peavey mixer of comparable size and it worked fine as well. You can't go wrong with this mixer.
Comments about Peavey PV8 Mixer:
This thing is basic and well made. Clean mic preamps, transparent gain, recessed phantom power switch. I use it to run a single mix into a Fostex 8X8 multi-tracker. My drummer also has one for running a single drum mix. Only two negative comments: 1)wish there was a cut/mute switch for each channel so I could keep my level positions and 2)wish there was an XLR main output. I think I can get an adaptor for that.

Comments about Peavey PV8 Mixer:
Well, I'm no sound-tech but I've used this mixer for home recording through an ancient PC. I run the output jack through a 1/4 - USB cable. The cable GREATLY reduces static sounds that will be recorded with any other type of PC connection. The mixer is small, but for the price its definitely a good deal for recording multiple instruments at once, I've recorded bass, guitar both electric and acoustic, acoustic drums mic'ed and vocal mic's. All of which produce great high quality media. For home recording purposes I highly recommend this Mixer. the only set back is the limited input jacks, hence the price!great buy! well-made?, obviously it's Peavy!
Comments about Peavey PV8 Mixer:
I really love the PV8. Every positive thing that everyone else has alreadysaid is true. But I want you to know what the EQ frequencies are sincethey're not in the Operations Guide (I asked Peavey): respectively, theHigh, Mid and Low EQ's are at 12k, 450Hz, and 80Hz. All the other similarmixers that I looked at use 2.5k for Mids. I also like that this mixer isheavy and has very tough rubber feet (they look like the same 1" squarerubber bumpers that you'd attach to a wall to soften the blow of a doorknobor something). I mean, I had my headphones plugged in, and no matter howhard I pulled on the cable (while being careful not to harm the cable), Isimply could not get the mixer to budge, and so I was pretty impressed bythat. Lastly, the Phantom Power button is recessed, but I leave that onsince the mixer has a power button on the back (and also since theOperations Guide doesn't say to turn Phantom Power off before turning themixer off) :)
Comments about Peavey PV8 Mixer:
I am happy with this mixer it is perfect for running my drum mics into my main poweramp.
Comments about Peavey PV8 Mixer:
Bought this for my home studio and couldn?t be happier. Does everything I want and now I can leave our big board in the road case. I have the PC plugged in and when I record I have everything setup to jump from one track to the next and this thing just keeps taking it. I would definitely recommend this mixer.
