I recently bought 2 sp218 cabs for my DJ service and a rock band that I am in, and let me tell you, these things push out some serious bass. Compared to any other brand of subwoofers, these are by far the best subs out there for your buck. Although they are very large cabs, they are still very accessible having built in casters in the rear for easy transport. I would highly recommend the peavey sp218 subs if you are looking for some serious bass.
Stay in the frequency range of these drivers, and you have got yourself one excellent bottom end that will be clean AND loud all night (or day) long. The sonic experience is pure bliss. When added to other Peavey SP full range cabs, this sub reminds me of an audiophile home component system that is super loud.
This subwoofer works well with the PV 215.I've used it for a year and I've never had any problems. I'm yet to use it outdoor.
True story about these speakers. The band I was in was using 2 of the JBL SRX double 18" subs. The band broke up, we sold the JBL's. A couple of years later, I started another band with the same guy, but I talked him into buying 4 of these and 4 of the double 15"/2" horn tops. Why? Less money, more speakers equals more volume, and these speakers need less power to get them loud, even though they will take all the power any amp I have ever used would give them, and they have built in wheels so one guy can roll them around. What everyone was STUNNED to discover: 4 of these subs, if given enough power, will FILL a 350-400 seat room with more bottom end than you can stand..!!! Trust me, if you have two of these, and you need more bass, buy two more. You will have the THICKEST bottom end of any band or any DJ around...! I was gonna buy a couple of single 18" subs for the new band, but I just can't do it. I KNOW how strong these are, so i'm just going to get one of them for the small rooms we will be playing in. If we book any bigger rooms, I'll buy another one..!
I have now bought 2 of these and plan on buying 1 or 2 more. This sub is lightweight (121 lbs) and high powered. For under $700, the bass is incredible. When powered properly, the bass can be heard and felt. I doubt it would compete against JBL or EAW, but trust me, this sub is awesome! It has a handle and built in wheels for easy moving.
