The first PA equipment I ever bought was Peavey gear 10 years ago... A couple of 110HC cabs and a 4 channel powered head (hehe). Since then, I have continued to upgrade to this point. I now run four of the SP-4 speakers for my front of house and also use one SP-4 for a drum monitor. As for the front of house system, I use these in conjunction with four dual 18 cabs loaded with Peavey Black Widows (of course). This rig has been used for large outdoor street festivals as well as in large club venues. I have never had one problem with these speakers. The sound is always crisp and clear. With the 22XT, the vocals are always clear and cut through the mix. The 15s bring out guitar and drums with a smooth sound that doesn't hurt your ears. When I look at my EQ, I can swear these cabs are tuned for certain frequencies. Now, the SP-4 I use as a drum monitor is another story. I am able to add anything needed with this one cab. No more drummers complaining about not hearing the kick or the bass. This cab does it all. With my Q Wave floor monitors on the frontline, and the SP-4 in the rear, my monitor mix capabilities are unlimited. Thanks again to Peavey for a great product... Kickback wheels, a light 113 pounds, Neutrik full range inuputs, and a cool new facelift.I plan on a continuing relationship with Peavey for years to come.

I have 4 of these SP4's in live sound. They are not very efficient. We ended up changing out the speakers for RCF, then it sounded better with more mid punch. Could have bought JBL's or the new Mackies by the time we were all done. Listen very carefully to the mids. The horn drivers we had to replaced twice. Look carefully before buying these, maybe try the SP7's.

Best for Worship Services

Our church seats about 150, and we have around 80 - 90 on Sunday mornings. We use these as FOH speakers, with no sub. One on each side of the pulpit. We use monitors for the band, choir, and pastor. We run the entire band(2-keys, bass, guitar, and drums), 3 choir mics, 2 lead mics, and the pastor mic. We have a Peavey PV3800 power amp pushing them, and they are great for what we are doing. We had our old mixer at first, but they really shined when we purchased the Mackie 24.4 Onyx.

Great speaker, I run a live sound and DJ company and these speakers work great for all my events small or large. I am so please with these speakers that I recommend them to all my clients. I install sound systems for churches and clubs and this is my number 1 requested item.

Powerful Speakers

By Arrowood Entertainment

Peavey SP4 I have two of these bad boys and I love them. Even without a sub they really pump the low end. I use the Peavey CS4080 amp to power them and they scream. I used them alone to DJ a high school dance and they did great. I did not even come close to peaking the amp and still delivered more than enough clean sound for a large gymnasium. No distortion at all. Now if you want that deep, deep, earth shaking bass then yes, add a sub, but the sound w/out is thumping and fantastic.

Powerful

By Troy-7WFcZ

These speakers are great. One thing I would highly recommend with these speakers is getting a pair of subs to match them. They are very powerful, but if your doing concerts outside you will not get much bottom end out of them. Not saying they do not have solid bass, but you just can't expect that out of a two way speaker. If your dj'ing in enclosed areas the Q wave 4's will do the job. They are much smaller than my last pair of speakers, but they have triple the sound. What can I say that the specs don't already say. Check out the size of the voice coil on the horn. Unbelievable. Good buy for the price.

incredible mains!

By drummin1

from austin, tx

With a good, clean amp and enough headroom in your board, these speakers sound phenomenal. If you have problems with them, you probably are trying to use them with a subpar amp and/or mixer. They work great in medium venues. If they still don't have enough mid for your taste, I suggest looking at the SP6, which has an extra mid-hi driver. We use a pair of SP6s to do everything. They work great on their own, but add subs for full effect to handle a large venue. This is a great product; solidly made from the durable birch enclosure to the drivers and speaker components. For mains, the SPs can't be beat in terms of power/quality/price. These are more powerful than Yamaha's top of the line Club V, and to beat the power and sound, you have to spend a little more on the Peavey QW line, or triple your budget to buy JBLs SRX series. Best pro passive speaker short of going broke! Great job Peavey!

DJS 4

By Michael D.

from Chicago, NW Suburbs

I bought these for a small band. Although, I MIDI everything and convert that to wave files so it's kind of like a DJ except for the vocals, guitar and 3 singers. Nice system, but I am adding a pair of subwoofers for a richer bottom end.

So impressed

By the Logic

from North Carolina

I love these. I A/B'd against the JBL version of the same Cab. I just didn't think I could justify the extra $$$ for the JBL as good as the Peavey sounded. I have not been disappointed at all.I ordered the accompanying SP4 Subs (single 18")- mainly because I just want all the sound that I can get. But they will stand on their own. Good job Peavey.
