OVERVIEW

An affordable, compact PA system with powered mixer, 10" speakers, microphone, and cables.

This PA system includes the Powerpod 820 powered mixer with 200W stereo power, 4 mic/line mono channels, 2 stereo channels, and onboard 32-bit DFX; and 2 - S710 10" 2-way speakers.

Powerpod 820 Powered Mixer
The Phonic Powerpod 820 is a 200W 12-input powered mixer with two paired stereo inputs and four mono Mic/Line channels each with individual phantom power. The ultra low noise preamps and 75 Hz (18 dB/oct.) low-cut filters ensure high fidelity sound and elimination of unwanted sounds like stage rumble, P-pops, wind noise and low frequency recording studio room resonance. The audio mixer has a 3-band EQ on every channel and onboard DFX, our 32-bit digital effects processor, with 16 preset programs and parameter control give you maximum control over your mix. Two AUX sends per channel and two stereo AUX returns mean that you can combine the Phonic Powerpod 820 with a variety of Signal Processors, other PA equipment, and music gear. Monitoring the mix is easy with the Phonic mixer's dual 10-segment LED level meters and high volume headphone output. The added feature of Mini Stereo I/O makes this mixer perfect for anyone connecting MP3, MD, or computer audio or recording devices. The Powerpod 820 is ideal for project studios, clubs and other applications that demand power in a limited space. It also works great as a keyboard mixer, sub-mixer or monitor desk. Comes with mic, mic cable, and speaker cables.

2 Phonic S710 speakers
The Phonic S710 is a 2-way speaker that gives you more power for your money. Power handling reaches 160W on peak, or 80W on Program. The S710 speaker is a starter unit that features a 10" heavy-duty woofer, and piezo tweeter. Phonic S710 speakers complement the Powerpod 408, or 620 perfectly to form a cost-effective audio solution for FOH application. You can use the Phonic S710 both as a floor monitor or mounted as a raised sound reinforcement speaker.

First off. For the price this package is a great deal. Although If you are a professional musician, spend the extra cash and get something else.About the unit itself:This little thing puts out some pretty good sound. Just don't over load it with by hooking a bunch of instruments through it or expect it to power much more than the speakers it comes with. You are still getting what you pay for. Maybe a bit more than you deserve for this price. The PA mixer effects are pretty good, It has a lot of options for inputs outputs and is very versatile.I am very pleased with the mixer options at this price. It you put some more power behind this it could do great things. The sound isn't perfect but it's very clear, doesn't overheat and seems well made. I turn this thing on for 3-5 hours straight 2-4 times a week at full blast and had no problems with sound or loss of power so far and I've owned it for 4 months. I use it for my personal monitors. I do vocals for a metal band so I crank it. I don't suggest you do that. I'm just giving an example. For the most part I am happy with my purchase. If you are in a jam/garage band and just need a little PA to practice with or you need a little PA to do a speech, an auction sale, or to do karaoke. This is perfect. It even has audio ins to make that possible and quite easy. Just make sure you read the manual for the correct input to hook in certain devices. Some of the labels are confusing because you think it means one thing but the manual says otherwise and it's right. If you want to perform on stage or in an environment where everyone your playing with has pro gear. Racks, stacks, triggers, and pro mics on the drums. I wouldn't recommend it unless your only using it for backup vocals or a monitor system like I am. For a starter musician I give it a 5/5.For an intermediate musician it's a 3/5.For a pro I wouldn't even score it. I'm sure phonic makes stuff for the pros this just isn't it.

The Good: Value based product. The mixer is of great quality, gets warm but not hot. Does what I need it to do, which is sit in my living room in between my drums, bass amp and guitar amp. I didn't have much room, so this fit the bill perfectly. Plays clear sound. You can get a nice blend between vocals and Ipod. (I've not tried it with any other musicians playing yet...just got it today)

The Bad: The manual is about as clear as foggy morning. Admittedly, this is my first mixer, however I've been around a lot of amps. They could have labeled things a little differently and gave more instruction instead of subtle hints at what things do. (Phonic, if you read this...come on, you're almost there) Cables are very thin. I'm not even using them.
I didn't even try the mic. I've got 2 Shure SM58's, so I figured I'd not bother with what they sent me.

The Ugly: The 10" speakers do NOT like bass. I had originally planned to get rid of my guitar amp to give me some more space in my living room, however after less than a minute, I know this wasn't happening.
With only moderate bass mixed on, playing through my Schecter C1 Custom had the little cabs buzzing like crazy. I wasn't to aggressive with the mix and can only attribute it to the cheap speakers.
If I were to do it over again, I'd probably spring the extra money for the 12". They could probably handle it a little better... unless I just got a bum pair, which is totally possible.
The only saving point is, this doesn't happen to me while singing or playing the Ipod through them. Only the low E string seems to bring it out. (if you are thinking of mixing a bass guitar through this... don't even consider it)

In closing, I would recommend the product for a small nitch. That nitch would be a small, non-metal 3 piece band, each of them having their own amps. Or someone like myself, that likes to entertain themselves by singing along amplified with an Ipod, or friends that come over to jam. It would most likely work well to do some recording with, if you weren't using the speakers and only using the record out to a laptop or handheld and monitors for sound.
Pretty good features for the price
820 unit itself seems to be of excellent quality. However since this is a review on the package, the speakers themselves are...meh, at best.
Good value, if you aren't expecting to do any shows bigger than a coffee house type setting. Do yourself a favor and either spend the extra money for the 12 or 15" speaker package. If you can't afford it, just don't go bass heavy with the 10" and you should be okay.

Comments about PHONIC KIT 502577 POWERPOD 820 S710 PA PACKAGE:

I have spoken to a representative 3 times under the name(Rick Martin) regarding warranty replacement of my PHONIC POWERPOD 820. Each time I have contacted the customer service department I have been told I would recieve a response within 48-72 hours. I originally called and emailed on 4-8-13, then again on 4-18-2013, and lastly on 4-23-2013. I have not been contacted in anyway regarding my issue. I am tired of explaining to "Rick Martin" what my issue is. I have submitted my email regarding the problem along with a copy of my original receipt. My Phonic PowerPod 820 worked for 4 months flawlessly. It is in prestine condition and was well cared for in my music studio. Then one day I attempted to use my mixer and turned on the power switch as usual, it illuminated and powered on then immediately shut off. NOW when I turn it on It powers on then immediately shuts off. The fuse is not blown and like I said it is in prestine condition. I am very dissatisfied not only with my product, but the costumer service. At this point I will never do bussiness with Phonic again and will not recommend any of its products to anyone. Very dissapointed.

Comments about PHONIC KIT 502577 POWERPOD 820 S710 PA PACKAGE:

This unit had a good clear sound and was semi user friendly the brief time I was able to use it. At first, the power would go off after about 2 - 3 minutes of use and would fire back up after turning off and back on. Eventually progressed to not even powering up at all. Changed the fuse to no avail. Unfortunately we had waited past the warranty period to use this unit and MF offered no support nor advice other than contacting Phonic.

The Powerpod 820 / S710 PA Package is a very good value. I have used it for shows with my band, and we are about to use it for recording. The only thing I don't like is that you have to read the manuals. READ THE MANUALS! They tell you everything about the individual pieces! Other than that, we love it! We are going to use it at 2 more small festivals this year!

Comments about PHONIC KIT 502577 POWERPOD 820 S710 PA PACKAGE:

I invested in this a couple of weeks ago and it is plenty loud(of course I'm only running vocals through it at the moment) but I believe it would handle keyboards and guitars nicely nothing with to much bass though.....so if your worried about the loudness you won't have a problem.....the speakers are built well and are better than what i expected.....buy new mic and speaker cables though....The power amp drives the woofers nicely no distortion but I'm not one to try and blow my speakers. The funtions on the mixer are nice. it's also nice that it has multiple outputs for nonpowerd speakers and then a few more for power amps and such. I was going to buy the model down from this one but changed my mind to go with the one that I wouldn't need to replace in a year......

I used this S710 Speaker package for practicing on my Kurzweil PC88 keyboard ... It's a great little system for bringing out good sound ... With the PowerPod 820 is a dandy little thing too! While I have a much bigger JBL system for large venue use, this little system can do a lot. I looked for a small speaker system in pawn shops and other places, and for the money, with the PowerPod, you can't beat it! Sound systems can be very spendy out there, and you never know what you're going to get with a "used" system, with no guarantees. Buy this little system, you will not regret it. Now, if you want to be rockers, and blast your music with your band, then go to 15" speakers. You can also use this little guy for monitors. It's a win win situation for many types of small gigs ...

Comments about PHONIC KIT 502577 POWERPOD 820 S710 PA PACKAGE:

Luckily, I purchased this PA System on sale, and I am very happy about my purchase. I will try to review the package entirely, since the components can al be bought separately. First, from a value perspective, you are essentially getting discounted speakers because the mixer alone is close in price. Second, the sound quality for 10 inch speakers is extremely impressive. I tested the microphone that came with the mixer, and while it's no SM58, it is still adequate for singing, rapping, or any vocal amplification for a small crowd of 100 people or less. My only minor complaint is that I don't get a HUGE amount of bass from the speakers, but that can easily be rectified with lager speakers or adding a subwoofer. I primarily use the system in conjunction with my Traktor Kontrol S2 DJ controller and my Roland SH-201 Keyboard, and both sound great, at the same time or separately. I have used this package for about 3 weeks daily with immaculate results. This is my second Phonic purchase after the MK50 and I have to say that I look forward to the quality of Phonic products if I purchase any in the future.

I use this system as a keyboard amp. I run 2 keyboards, a mandolin, and fiddle through this system. 100+100 amps can be obtained by running 4 ohms, which I do by adding a couple of 12" cabs. I also use this little system for a duo I do, where the volume has to stay low. Great system and a great price.
