OVERVIEW

Professional 2-channel battle mixer with Serato DJ integration.

A professional 2-channel battle mixer designed for use with Serato DJ, the Pioneer DJM-S9 is packed with features to take your DJ game to the next level. The DJM-S9's innovative Magvel Fader Pro can be completely customized with multiple options to suit many different styles. Built-in rubber bumpers provide an incredible response when cutting and the eight performance pads per channel give you instant access to samples, cues and more. And if that's not enough, the DJM-S9 is jammed with built-in effects and assignable buttons that can be mapped to access effects in Serato.

Magvel Pro Crossfader
Pioneer's first 2-channel battle mixer for Serato DJ features the fully-customizable Magvel Pro crossfader for outstanding response, durability and smoothness. Dial in its operational load and modify its curve and reverse configuration to suit your DJ style.

Performance Pads
Tactile multi-color performance pads let you tailor the mixer according to your preferences. For dynamic live mixing, 16 multi-color touch pads give access to hot cue, Roll, slice, loop and more. Their optimized shape and seat switch connections provide great accuracy and response, while the EL display instantly shows which mode is in play. In Serato DJ you can map other functions to the pads and allocate specific colors for an even stronger visual cue.

Customizable FX Buttons
Six customizable buttons on each side of the mixer, and two in the middle, trigger effects directly on your hardware. Fire up six dedicated beat effects on the left banks, or replace them with other popular on-board effects. On the right, you can map your favourite Serato DJ effects and their parameters. The OEL display puts the effect types and beat settings at your fingertips.

Filter FX
A high/low pass filter on each channel lets you manipulate effect by simply rotating the knob. With Serato DJ you can switch to other filter effects like dub echo, noise and pitch.

Quality Sound
The DJM-S9 inherits its high-quality audio circuitry from Pioneer's flagship 4-channel digital mixer, the DJM-2000NXS. The power inlet is designed to reduce resistance and deliver the stable sound you need in loud club environments.

Two Built-in Soundcards
Two USB soundcards make this the ultimate plug-and-play Serato DJ mixer. Play back-to-back with other DJs seamlessly using the input switcher on top to switch between all four Serato DJ decks. And if you prefer to play with CDJs or turntables, you can easily do so thanks to DVS support.

Style Levers
The mixer has two large style levers that allow you to swiftly turn effects on and off. Give more dynamics to your sets by triggering effects briefly, locking them on, or exiting arrangements quickly.

Comments about Pioneer DJM-S9 2-Channel Battle Mixer with Performance Pads:

I finally figured this unit out,. This is the best mixer for is advertising status. To make this unit work 100% you have to use Usb 2.0 audio only. You lap top cannot share USB 3.0 and 2.0 connections integrated in its circuit board, update firmware to the latest to fix bugs . I use windows 10 with no issues
Because my computer is for DJ software only . The best mixer on the market today. Goodye 62
By the way read forums to optomize your computer for audio

Comments about Pioneer DJM-S9 2-Channel Battle Mixer with Performance Pads:

BUGS: The S9 was occasionally buggy but firmware could fix the weird bugs I experienced.
If you disengage the echo the beat parameter button may or may not affect the loop tail.

SERATO ISSUES: If you engaged a [4 Beat Loop] then changed it's size using the [1/2x] or [2x] buttons, hitting the engaged/lighted [4 beat loop] button would *not* disengage the loop. It would change the loop to 4 beats (and jump the loop head with it) before allowing it to be disengaged by hitting the [4 beat loop] button a second time. (You'd have to [shift] + [4 beat loop] to disengage if you changed the loop size.) Alternatively you could change the settings so the [1/2x] & [2x] changes the loop size before you engage the [4 beat loop] button but then you'd have to check your laptop to know what size loop the [4 Beat Loop] button would engage.

Also using the [4 Beat Loop] button would shift your "loop bracket" over to 1/2,1,2,4 and render the Loop Roll function useless until using the parameter button to shift the loop bracket to a useable bracket.
      ----
That being said, The crossfader is dope! (User replaceability I've read may be an issue)
I both liked and disliked the echo and reverb on this mixer. Turning the dry/wet knob to full would create an endless tail on the echo and a long tail on the reverb. That's fun to play with... but being used to my djm 800 it was hard to use those effects in a subtle manner for mixing.

Coming from the DJM 800 I was looking forward to having DUB Echo on the filter knobs but having to have a 3rd party Pioneer app to switch from Filter to Dub Echo made it too cumbersome to switch.
I also missed the VU meters being located up by the EQ section - that's totally just a personal preference thing :)

Some people will love this mixer. I thought that I would.
It's a good mixer but I feel, I personally, get more from my djm 800 and Dicers. Maybe a cheaper battle mixer and the Pioneer SP1 or Dicers may be a better/cheaper/more flexible option for some.
