Being an beginner in the DJ field, I have begun to understand the need for durable products. I any other case, I would say these headphones are truly amazing. The sound quality is remarkable, not to mention the smooth yet strong base. Leaning back towards the quality side, I might submit myself into saying that these headhphones due truly look and feel quite fragile. I have been quite hesitant to flipping the cans and running a single, but so far they haven't really shown sings of strain after 3 months use (warrant that im not a professional DJ and all). I would say if you are a "hobbyist" or beginner in the DJ field, these headphones are truly a good buy. With that aside, I would also like to note the comfort level. I have a series of piercings running along both my ears, to which these headphones dont give much trouble. But after a about 4 hours of wear these things can get rough (considering that is a fairly long amount of time, yet very generous when it comes to the time put into mixing tracks and the like).

Excellent sound wise and you can wear them for hours due to how light they are. Thats there downfall.... construction, If I could upload a pic of what mine look like after only 6 months of use you'd know what I was talking about. Completely destroyed, I'm not pro but I use them everyday. The cord pulled out of the ear cup and is just dangling there by a few wires... still works pefectly though beleive it or not. The Black pieces on the sides come off on a daily basis but you can just put them back on no big deal. The housing in the back that protects the wires fell off and thats where their support is so the whole headband is now coming apart. But all in all I would buy the same pair if they wheren't so expensive. I like how light they are alot, but not sturdy enough for me I guess. They just feel cheaply made which is something pioneer isn't known for. Their hardware is the best of the best but head phones need work. In reality Just beefed up a little but then you would be adding weight, so I don't know. Cant have both worlds but I would suggest them depending on what you use them for.

Pioneer HDJ-1000 disappoints

By DJ Medusa

from Aruba, Dutch West Antilles

I have to say I loved most of the stuff Pioneer brought out, so I jumped on the bandwagon of getting these overpriced headphones, only to get jerked after 3 months of use.I had a gig in Holland & the left ear stopped working & I was left without any good headphones to do my work decently. I am very dissapointed, also the construction of plastic sucks. I'm still pissed & that's why I resorted to the Sony's mdr-dj 700's. Pioneer you lost a customer!!!

Needs Major Repair @ 4 Months

By KemmiiS

from Undisclosed

The first pair... After 1 year the cable came loose and is dangling by a few wires from the can... still worked though. The second pair after 4 months of 20 hours a day 7 days a week the male connector slips out of every cable i have and my laptop, CD Player and everything else i tried. The sound is really good which is why i bought them however they are made poorly. I am now moving on to another brand and hopefully will have better luck. Very heavy users might want to pass these cans up... if you are an occasional user for kicking back and relaxing they will work very well for you. I will say they sure push the sound... many in the business talk about bleeding ears but i was pushing so much sound my right ear DID bleed... for 3 hours!

They are worth it if you use them everyday.

By Sonido D.j. Inmortal

from Houston, Tx

I'm a d.j. 5 nights a week and since I use them everyday they are worth every cent. I use to buy the inexpensive headphones but every 3 months I needed new ones. These headphones have a sound so clear it makes it easier to mix because every individual instrument is so clear.

Nice performance

By grillo_radu

I had to wait along time to buy some pro headphones that could give me what I needed. Why? Because they are expensive. With this product I made an investment. Everything is just perfect, pure sound, ergonomic design, reliability. The only turn-off is the material. Why plastic? It could be solid metal for the price.

Won't take any abuse!

By BigBadBobbo7

from Anchorage

I DJ proffesionally 2-3 times a month but use the headphones at least 4 times a month at home. the sound is alright, but the mid tone reproduction was lacking and muffled. In addition, they are relatively heavy compared to many others that I have owned. Worst of all, the construction that attaches the cans to the band is flimsy plastic which broke after 4.5 months of average use. The only positive thing to say is the seal around the ear is quite good and seals out a lot of noise.

I DJ.....

The sound quality is good through all the ranges. But these are REALLY uncomfortable. And the 1/4" adapter broke on me. Don't get these unless you like the 1/8" plug. Sony makes just as good of quality, plus they are WAY more comfortable.

Sound Amazing, But Break

By Reticuli-YcBKQ

from Las Vegas, OR

Bass is extremely tight. Sound is mostly flat and very extended. Can handle enormous volumes. They break. It doesn't matter how great they sound, if they break there's not much use for them later. Mine just did after 6 months.

Served Me Well! An Amazing Product!

By DJ Flyy Productions

I've had these headphones since 2002. It wasn't till last weekend that the right side swivel broke on me during an event. I work 6-8 nights a month, and don't exactly relax when it comes to using my headphones. I give them a beating. I say that almost 4 yearrs with the same pair is a hell of a good deal for the $I paid. I also got a warranty and im glad to say i never needed it. Only thing that i didn't really appreciate was how quickly the ear padding got torn.. Granted i have a diamond earring with edges that might be rough, but they dried out and were crackling within a couple months.Overall, AMAZING PRODUCT! I've gotta go get a new pair next week!
