OVERVIEW

Show your passion for sonic quality with this limited edition audio interface.

Now this popular recording system comes in a stylish white color design, but only for a limited engagement. Show your passion for music and recording with this limited edition audio interface from PreSonus.

The PreSonus AudioBox USB 2x2 USB recording system is an excellent solution for achieving high-quality, professional-sounding recordings no matter where you are. The AudioBox USB is a USB bus-powered audio recording interface loaded with two microphone/instrument inputs with 48V phantom power, two balanced TRS outputs, and MIDI I/O so you can stay portable without sacrificing your sound. The AudioBox USB also comes with Studio One Artist music creation and production software which has the same platform and intuitive interface as Studio One Pro but with an unlimited track count so you can start recording right out of the box.

PreSonus Audio has won numerous awards for designing quality microphone preamplifiers for all price levels. The AudioBox USB is loaded with preamps that deliver high headroom, low noise, and high gain to give you pure, full, and rich sound. Most USB recording devices operate at a 16-bit sample rate and use converters with dynamic ranges of less than 90dB which gives you a pinched and relatively small sound. The AudioBox USB, however, uses professional-grade analog to digital converters with a dynamic range of 102dB and 24-bit sample rate so that the digital conversion is big, quiet, and musical, making it one of the best sounding USB bus-powered interface on the market.

The AudioBox USB is bus-powered giving you the flexibility you need with no wall warts, line lumps, or power cables. Just plug in to a powered USB port and you are ready to record. The AudioBox USB is housed in an all-metal chassis with metal knobs able to withstand the rigors of travel and your touring adventures. Just toss the AudioBox USB in your laptop bag and mobilize your music creation and production. Whether you're recording your shows, creating a mix on the plane, or writing songs in your hotel room, the AudioBox is ready to go.

Good product, works well. Took about 4 hours to setup as it took 3:59 to figure out that the USB cord was defective right out of the box. Last thought was to run down to the computer store for a new cord and that ended up working.

Probably wouldn't buy another Presonus product because of that. But the Audiobox works well once you toss away their defective cable they clearly tried to save money on.

I got this unit, and despite repeated discussions with the Presonus tech support, they were never able to get this unit working with my PC, which is new and met all requirements stated by the units specs. I uninstalled and re-installed the drivers countless times at their suggestion, and no luck. I went back and forth with them over and over, and still to this day have not been able to record one note on the Presonus USB, and tech support could not get the unit to work, or explain why it wouldn't work, and refused to refund me. I would gladly buy from Musicians Friend, but never from PreSonus again, because at the end of the day, I ended up with a paperweight. It really got my start in computer based recording off on a bad note. They marketed it as an easy to use unit, just plug and play, and it was anything but that.

Comments about PreSonus AudioBox USB 2x2 Audio Recording Interface Limited Edition:

According to description, this unit is supposed to work with Windows Vista. It does not. I am not sure if this model works for other users, with different operating systems, but for me it was a complete disaster. I spent 2 hrs on the phone with PreSonus customer service. He remotely kept installing and removing different drivers and different versions of Studio One. According to PreSonus, there are numerous "glitches" in the systems. I do have to say that they were very polite and supportive and finally got it to work, with error pop-ups still showing. But after I restarted the system, it was no longer being recognized…. So I spent about another 15 hrs messing with it. After I finally got it to work, the recording quality was horrible. Signal was low and I was getting an echo when listing to the recording. May be I was doing something wrong. After a while the system would freeze. Regardless,,, if the manufacturer indicates that the system is compatible with Vista, that's what I would expect. And the system should easily configure it self and be more user friendly. I am returning this unit.

Comments about PreSonus AudioBox USB 2x2 Audio Recording Interface Limited Edition:

The Presonus AudioBox USB is all you need! If you need the extra pre monitor mix with the VSL software then you may want to look into the 22VSL. In addition the 22VSL has a usb 2.0 interface for better latency and VSL monitoring. If your debating between the Audiobox and the Focusrite Scarlett 2i2...get the AudioBox! Why...the Scarlett lacks MIDI and the additional mixer playback to allow you to hear either more input or computer audio...it is vital to have a great premix for monitoring. Although the Audio has USB 1.1, it can still give you great latency with 256 buffer/20ms or below! Your best audio DAW and driver performance will come from reducing your OS resources decreasing CPU core and RAM utilization. The Presonus AudioBox for this price is unbeatable...the preamps are class A XMAX that are like Focusrite, Yamaha D-Pre's, or Mackie Onyx preamps. I researched them all and I am happy with both of my Presonus AudioBox USB boxes! Plus you get the StudioOne V2 Artist DAW for free with up to 5 activations...what other software does that!

Recieved a "USB device not recognized" error on two different computers. The driver installation program is flawed in that you have to have the unit plugged into the computer when it installs them, but the computer won't recognize the unit in order to install the drivers. Sent it back.

I have been playing music since reel to reel was the only thing available. Getting this product, and learning how to use it has been a lot of fun. The sound is superior to anything a hand held will produce although when I got the large diaphram condenser things got even better. As the sales for Studio One came along I have upgraded and am quite happy w/ the program. Having a treated room to record in makes a huge difference as well. It's hard to go wrong w/ this given the box and a laptop equal recording in the field. There is a lot online on how to use this product (see youtube) as well as some good books. I came to this product w/ a good idea of how to do live sound and what the different processors did.

I just got this interface for use with GarageBand my iMac and so far, I love it. This is my first audio interface and I am fairly new to recording, but I can say that this is a great product if you are an amateur. The only thing I wish it had was a MIDI input. Overall: It's easy to use, has a solid feel, it's compact, and the sound quality is excellent. Not to mention the price!

I had to replace my 2 older, but working interfaces when I upgraded to Windows 10. After trying all I knew to do, plus internet research, I realized they would never work with Win 10. One had been a Presonus that I liked a lot, so I check their site and they have a list of their models that they have tested and grantee to work with Win 10. This model was on their list. I was very relieved, since I had already been looking at this model partly because it was about the least expensive. I've used it 2 or 3 times now and I'm quite pleased with it.

I already had a Focusrite 18i20 2nd Gen. I do not have a dedicated desk or studio, however. It is a big box that I need to put my laptop over when I need to work at a desk or my ottoman. I love having all those inputs since I have drums, but sometimes you just need two inputs. The smallest Focusrite interface does not have Midi inputs. This interface has Midi and was a great price. I do hear a bit of noise, but it's okay with the music I make, since I mangle a lot of my sounds. I am not recording acoustic instruments with this interface. I am doing some field recordings or just using one input at a time, swapping bass guitars, drum machines, iPads and mics. This unit does not need a wall wart, so that saves some space. One thing you need to keep in mind, don't put your phone on top of this unit -- you will hear the phone like when you have your phone next to your car radio. I would like to compare this to it's Focusrite counterpart, but I am happy with this product and price.

I am a songwriter and needed only a couple of channels. This interface is a lot better than I thought it would be. This is my first foray into using audio interfaces and am altogether happy with this one. The biggest reason for choosing Presonus was the free Studio One Artist software. Still learning this software as it has so much possibilities. If you don't need a whole bunch of channels then for the price the Audiobox USB is the way to go.

The mechanical aspects are perfect for the small studio. Two TRS/XLR inputs, 48v phantom power, line out and headphone controls in a reliable, affordable package. The biggest issues arose from attempting to install the StudioOne software that is included. I use a MacBook, however I have not been able to get the program to load properly. It did not come with an installation disc, so I attempted to download the program from the PreSonus site. Hasn't worked yet. There appears to be some sort of Mac patch. I'm also using Pro Tools First (for a class) so I haven't had a chance to troubleshoot. I would say buy for the box, not the software.

Comments about PreSonus AudioBox USB 2x2 Audio Recording Interface Limited Edition:

This was my first attempt at doing any kind of recording, and the end result was quite good. It took me about 2 days to figure everything out and lay down some good tracks. I haven't used the studio one software that comes with the audiobox as it was a little too complex for me to figure out in a timely fashion, and I needed to get some tracks recorded in a hurry. Instead, I used Audacity, and the audiobox worked great through there. My only disappointment, was when I went out to Presonus' web site to download and install the software, I assumed that the drivers would be installed with the studio one software, They weren't. And by simply following the prompts on the web site, I don't remember ever being directed to install the drivers. I only figured it out later because I couldn't because I couldn't see any mic or instrument level hitting either the studio one software, or the audacity software, and the audiobox wasn't listed as an option for sound inputs or outputs. After I went back to Presonus web site and looked for and downloaded the audiobox usb drivers for my operating system (windows 10) everything worked fine.

I just miss more power from the preamps 'cause you'll have to work with the gain at 80 at least for good signal but It's very good for the money. Impressive sound quality.
