OVERVIEW

High-quality pres and pro-grade A/D conversion turn your laptop into a powerful recording rig.

The PreSonus AudioBox USB 2x2 USB recording system is an excellent solution for achieving high-quality, professional-sounding recordings no matter where you are. The AudioBox USB is a USB bus-powered audio recording interface loaded with 2 microphone/instrument inputs with 48V phantom power, 2 balanced TRS outputs, and MIDI I/O so you can stay portable without sacrificing your sound. The AudioBox USB also comes with Studio One Artist music creation and production software which has the same platform and intuitive interface as Studio One Pro but with an unlimited track count so you can start recording right out of the box.

PreSonus Audio has won numerous awards for designing quality microphone preamplifiers for all price levels. The AudioBox USB is loaded with preamps that deliver high headroom, low noise, and high gain to give you pure, full, and rich sound. Most USB recording devices operate at a 16-bit sample rate and use converters with dynamic ranges of less than 90dB which gives you a pinched and relatively small sound. The AudioBox USB, however, uses professional-grade analog to digital converters with a dynamic range of 102dB and 24-bit sample rate so that the digital conversion is big, quiet, and musical, making it one of the best sounding USB bus-powered interface on the market.

The AudioBox USB is bus-powered giving you the flexibility you need with no wall warts, line lumps, or power cables. Just plug in to a powered USB port and you are ready to record. The AudioBox USB is housed in an all-metal chassis with metal knobs able to withstand the rigors of travel and your touring adventures. Just toss the AudioBox USB in your laptop bag and mobilize your music creation and production. Whether you're recording your shows, creating a mix on the plane, or writing songs in your hotel room, the AudioBox is ready to go.

It doesn't matter if you are a beginner or a professional this is a fantastic interface that every musician and producer should have in their recording tool kit.
I have a degree in Audio Engineering and Music production. This interface is an incredible piece of equipment. I have had no problems what so ever with it and have had fantastic results!
Well built, and laid out. Easy to set up and use.
For the price you can't beat it.

The Audiobox USB is, for the price, a pretty decent piece of equipment. Recordings are clear and have fairly good quality. For my use, I only use the Audiobox for rough recording on the go or when inspiration strikes, as the the quality is only demo worthy at best. Don't get me wrong- this interface is the absolute best out there for the price! For what I purchased this unit for, it cant be beaten. It is also very durable and easy to set up. I can just throw this in my bag and head out whenever needed. One of my only complaints for this unit is that when I have it hooked up to my new MacBook Pro, and the charger is also plugged in, you can not get a clean recording. There is all kind of hissing a cracking going one. I played around with all kinds of settings in Logic but none worked out. Later I was using the Audiobox as a live MIDI interface and just during practice, I ran a click track through my IPhone 5 (also while it was charging) and same thing, hiss and cracks everywhere. I took the charger out and it sounded fine. This is what leads me to believe that it is a problem with the unit, not my software. Overall great sounding unit with basic features to get the job done. Unless the problem that I encountered would be a major set back for you, I would say get the unit. Noting better for the price.

Comments about PreSonus AudioBox USB 2X2 USB Recording System:

The phantom power supply doesn't work. I've worked with three of these units and the phantom power was a problem on all of them. Phantom power produced a whine in the first one I bought. Tech support finally told me (via email) they've identified a problem with about 10% of their units(why don't they recall them?) Presonus tech support is the worst I've ever experienced. Don't expect to talk to anyone. Before I shipped mine back for repair I ordered another one for a backup. It was worse than the first one. Not only did the phantom power not work, but it wouldn't even connect to my PC. It would ocassionally work on my macbook but I never got it to work on a PC. I returned it as a defective unit.

Comments about PreSonus AudioBox USB 2X2 USB Recording System:

I got this unit, and despite repeated discussions with the Presonus tech support, they were never able to get this unit working with my PC, which is new and met all requirements stated by the units specs. I uninstalled and re-installed the drivers countless times at their suggestion, and no luck. I went back and forth with them over and over, and still to this day have not been able to record one note on the Presonus USB, and tech support could not get the unit to work, or explain why it wouldn't work, and refused to refund me. I would gladly buy from Musicians Friend, but never from PreSonus again, because at the end of the day, I ended up with a paperweight. It really got my start in computer based recording off on a bad note. They marketed it as an easy to use unit, just plug and play, and it was anything but that. One representative told me that the problem was with Vista, and I should get a different OS, but why then did it say "Works with Vista" on the box? that's one of the main reasons I bought that unit.
Their customer support did try like heck to get the thing to work, but never could.

This product according to Presonus tech support will not work properly if you have active pick ups. It will likely blow the preamps. My Audiobox USB is less than 1 week old and they want me to send it in for repairs. I don't think so. I would have accepted a replacement had they offered it but no way am I sending this in for repairs and it's only 1 week old. I'll never buy another Presonus product again.

Bought one. Easy to use. Decent sound for price point. Failed in 6 months. I have been trying to return it for 7 weeks and all I get is 40 minutes hold time on the phone system and a runaround when I get ahold of someone. They lose the case. They ask me to fill out things repeatedly. I swear they just want me to go away. No more Pre Sonus gear for this musician.

This device is notorious for having static or humming. Do a Google search for this model and squeals shows up before you can finish typing.

Countless emails to tech support. Never got anywhere. A friend who is a professional audio engineer has one and warned me about the static and humming.

Once tech support had me uninstall the driver. It would never re-install. It ook me a year to get it to reinstall. Device still doesn't work.

I am not a studio engineer, i play guitar and drums. This unit has been nightmare installing software to using the many functions. The reference manual is not very helpful for a beginner. Called Presonus support and after an hour on hold did get answers to a few issues that should have been explained in the reference manual.Since then its been a struggle figuring out the basic functions.
