Despite what some of the other reviewers have said, this is a very solid preamp, as long as its used properly. its won several awards for goodnes sake! i bought this in replacement of an older ART TUBE MP preamp, and its quality way surpasses the ART. very warm sound, and nice clean signal if you find the right settings. the ability to have two inputs is big plus as well. however I should note that the price cut is due to the fact that its been discontinued and replaced by the bluetube DP. The quality for the price is well worth it. It's not high-end studio stuff, but great for home recording.

Review

By lespaulsrule222

After using it about 5 times with my guitar, the gain stopped working, but by the next week it was back. Very weird. Despite that, I haven't had any problems and it's given me some great bass and guitar sounds. I've even used it a couple of times for vocals. Although it's not the greatest for vacals, it sounds pretty good.

Bass Player/Novice Recorder

By Deaver

from Raleigh

I bought this unit to use the phantom power supply while recording on AKG mikes to a Sony MD recorder and to direct line my Lakland bass, also. Pretty good results. Went to replace the "tubes" and much to my surprise there is only one tube in the unit... both sides share one tube.

Really impressed

By Jezuse

from Ypsilanti, MI

I have had it for about 3 years and have used it for many live applications from a vocal preamp. (It really warms up a headset mic), to a Bass preamp which i am now using it for. ( bass to bluetube, out to compressor, split to power amp +cab, and front of house). It sounds great

Condenser Mic Drum Overheads

By Sparky-ky0dV

from Charlotte, NC

I recently purchased this unit for my "project" home studio. I am currently using this unit for Overheads, I have to say if you want a lots of warmth and those crispy clear highs, this is what you want. I use this with my Soundcraft Spirit LX7 mixing board, although my board has phantom power...I am actually going to purchase another for drum ambience mics. If this unit had Behringer's Voicing switch, I would never need a different Tube Pre-Amp.

Good for a VERY cheap pre-amp

Warms up guitar and bass nicely, not high quality enough for vocals.

Warm, phat tones, cheap

By failure monkey

from all over colorado

I use this at the end of my gtr rig to warm up my okay digital reverb. I also use it between my mixer and my power amp for vocals. For the price, it offers good features and uses SOvtech tubes so you can drive the !@#$ out of it and it wont distort. I love it, because of the sound and price. I do not experience noise problems with the unit itself, but if there is a noise originating earlier in my rig it will be amplified and is quit annoying. If you expierence this, match all of your preamp volumes

Nice for your Studio Mics

My friend gave me his and i have to say it gives your mic nice clean sound..no fuzzyness for any distortion..the gain control is nice if you want to change levels of your voice while recording..good buy
