The ultimate monitoring center for your digital studio.
The PreSonus Central Station is a comprehensive monitor switching center. The main audio path of the Central Station is completely passive, offering the most transparent sonic quality. This mastering-level signal path has no amplifier stages, including op amps, active ICs, or chips eliminating coloration, noise, and distortion. To minimize noise and maximize signal integrity, this PreSonus unit is equipped with 34 sealed relays that use a minimal signal path design so that the audio does not pass through extraneous electronics. 3 pairs stereo inputs (2 pair TRS and 1 pair RCA) and outputs (2 digital and 3 analog).
Accompanying 3 sets of monitor outputs, each with its own set of trim pots, are 3 sets of analog stereo analog inputs to accommodate DAW/Mixer, Tape/CD, or Keyboard/Sampler. 2 of these inputs feature balanced TRS jacks and the third has RCA inputs with trim control for matching signals at different levels. The Central Station also accommodates 2 digital inputs via S/PDIF or TOSLINK, providing D/A conversion up to 24Bit/192kHz, enabling the user to send a digital signal directly to the monitoring center to bypass lesser D/A converters from the DAW, a CD, or DAT player.
Dual fast-acting 30-segment digital LED meters provide high-resolution metering of input level as well as calibration to external equipment. The Central Station also offers a talkback omni directional condenser microphone that is routed through the CUE outputs for communication between artist and engineer. When the talkback feature is used, the cue mix is automatically dimmed for optimal communication.
Other features on the PreSonus Central Station include 2 headphone outputs, MUTE, DIM, MONO, INPUT select, CUE select, and OUTPUT select. An optional remote control (CSR-1) is available that includes TALKBACK, MUTE, DIM, MONO, INPUT, and OUTPUT selection, as well as level adjustment.

Fantastic unit. Routes audio in my studio routing PERFECTLY. I had the SAME problem someone else mentioned about the meters going out. Still happens EVERY time it gets turned off and back on again via the Furma power conditioner. Why PreSonus doesn't put power switches on their gear, I don't know, BUT...there is a SOLUTION. While the machine is off, HOLD DOWN the Clear Peak button while turning on the machine, and the meters will work again. Weird, but it works for me. Strange that I have to do it EVERY time I turn it on though :/
I bought this unit about a month ago and I am so glad I did! I have two sets of monitors, and anyone who uses the DIGI002 mixing console knows its not really designed for two sets of monitors. WIth the central station I can hook three sets up. A tricky thing about that is that it has monitor select A,B,C, but you can only have 2 running simultaneously. C is designed for a sub, then you can switch from A to B. It has a very accurate meter and does not noticably boost the signal. A great buy!
Do not buy this unit. The FEATURES are great, but I am on my SECOND unit, and the meters have failed within 24 hrs on BOTH. If there is some way to troubleshoot or remedy this, the manual does not give information on how. The manual is more of a brag-sheet on features than an actual USER's MANUAL. If you need metering for calibration, know that my meters on BOTH units lasted less than 24 hrs, and best I can tell, I have followed ALL the rules with regard to set up. I wish the Mackie Big Knob was still available :-(
PreSonus' Central Station & remote are just too cool. They connect & rout & in & out & allow you to connect powered & passive speakers with a power amp & you can effortlessly switch at will. Plus the LCDs look very cool. Creative flexibility at it's best. A fantastic solution now that my 32 channel 5 ft long mixing console is out of the picture.
Never have i heard such nice output from my monitors. So warm and transparent it's made me feel great through long nights of recording and editing... My singers love it too because the talk back feature is so much more convenient. The two headphone outs, now i don't need an amp in my small studio. I believe this product sold me a lot better than the mackie big knob. The fact it's rack mountable with optional remote makes it very flexible to any interface pretty much, especially with the hidden cables and all. I love the big digital meter, which is another feature that presonus kills mackie with. I even use it to just meditate and listen to music for hours on the couch, the most worthwhile product i have bought to date. Definitely recommended, I've been in the business for 8 years now, take my word for it.
