Not sure what all these other people are talking about, but they must've gotten lemons...I've had my FirePod for 3 years and it hasn't failed me yet. I had some driver issues when I updated my computer to Windows 7, however, they've since came out with new drivers that work flawlessly on it.Maybe the quality went down when they changed the name to the FP10, but mine sounds great and I've been using it in my studio for years to track guitars, drums, bass, vocals, etc - it all sounds great and professional with it.

Granted, I've had this thing for a few years. However, I've taken it out of the box less than a dozen times, always babying it because it was a very big investment for me. It's gotten a total usage time of maybe 50 hours of gentle use, and when it's not in use it always goes directly back into the box, packed carefully in the original foam. Despite all this extra care, both of the instrument inputs now buzz like crazy. I have to prop the cord up in exactly the right position or there's loud buzzing or no input at all. It is not the cord - I've tried several that all work fine in other devices. I can't afford to replace or repair it and the warranty is long expired, so I'm stuck keeping a paper weight in front of it to keep the cord in position and standing or sitting perfectly still while playing any guitar or bass parts. I am extremely disappointed.

Comments about PreSonus FP10 10x10 Firewire Interface (Firepod):
I picked one of these up from a friend and it has been great. The preamps are clean and work great, even when I'm cranking up the Cascade Fathead ribbon mics I have, which require a lot of clean gain. I've recorded myself and a few other bands with it without any issues. I'd recommend getting an extra tube preamp for when you want a warmer sound or some natural compression, but overall this works and sounds great. I'm looking to get another one because you can link them together and then have 16 channels (plus 4 spdif if you use it).

Comments about PreSonus FP10 10x10 Firewire Interface (Firepod):
ill start off by saying this thing worked great for a little while but now i just want to throw it in the garbage. First off the first firewire port stopped working after that the unit wouldnt turn on, got that fixed and right after that the second firewire port wouldnt work on it. I paid close to 700$ for this thing when it first came out and for that price i would expect this thing to last for years and years. I Think it was very cheaply made and wouldnt recommend it at all first and last time i buy a presonus product.
Comments about PreSonus FP10 10x10 Firewire Interface (Firepod):
Owned my Firepod for about 4 years. It has NEVER let me down. Originally ran into a laptop running Windows XP. No problems. I read a lot of complaining on here about sturdiness. It must be user error. Take care of your gear. Last week I ran 8 simultaneous inputs into my macbook pro to record a jam session, and it sounds GREAT! I cannot comment on the Studio software it now comes with. It came with Cubase LE when I bought it. Quit complaining people. Buy it.
Comments about PreSonus FP10 10x10 Firewire Interface (Firepod):
I am amazed at home many times the Presonus FP10 has let me down. If you're thinking about buying this, please reconsider. This is one of the worst made audio devices I've ever used. The firewire conectors WILL break on you. I've had mine repaired several times. You WILL NOT be able to consistently connect to computers running Windows 7 despite what Presonus says. And finally, when you need it most, it WILL let you down and not work. This is the first time in my life that I am writing a negative review, but Presonus left me no choice with their horrible attention to detail and poor quality. I feel obligated to help others learn from my mistakes and not spend their hard earned money on such a horrible product.
Comments about PreSonus FP10 10x10 Firewire Interface (Firepod):
I was a little skeptical about the FP10 due to its mixed reviews but I must say that I'm very relieved. After reading about all the problems people had with installation of these things I was a little hesitant to add these to my cart but I went ahead and ordered two of these bad boys with hopes for the best. Thankfully, installation was a breeze. I haven't done too much experimenting with the setup yet but both of them are running with full capabilities on my xp desktop without any problems. There is a lot of flexibility with them working along with Cubase 5. I absolutely love being able to record more than 8 tracks! I must admit though.... I was a little scared that I couldn't get signal out of some channels, but that was only my stupidity wanting to be under the impression that the top four level knobs were for channels 1-4 and not the odd numbered ones. For some reason that would just make more sense to me. I was very relieved to find that I was just being dumb. All in all I'm very happy so far with my decision to go ahead and try these out. I was definitely scared into getting a good long warranty though. Hopefully I won't be eating these words and be forced to deal with their dreaded tech support :P
Comments about PreSonus FP10 10x10 Firewire Interface (Firepod):
I have owned this equipment for about a year and a half. With windows vista this device worked flawlessly. I upgraded to windows 7 and it hasn't worked since. Called tech support then waited 2 weeks then called again. They finally sent me a driver and the system recognizes the device but it still will not operate in the audio function. Called again and gave them information from my system. It has now been 6 months and not so much as a whisper from Presonus. THIER TECH SUPPORT STINKS.

Comments about PreSonus FP10 10x10 Firewire Interface (Firepod):
I own two FP10s. I've had them for 3 years. Popping/clicking can be resolved by changing the settings in Cubase (or other software). More Ram may also helped to resolve this. The first FP10 now experiences some connectivity issues but can be resolved if I place a fan on the back of the machine. If its too hot or too cold the unit will loose connection. I blame this on stacking the two units on top of one another without any space when I first got them and they got extremely hot. I May have fried the ports a bit. As long as I keep the temp right the units work well and sound good.
Comments about PreSonus FP10 10x10 Firewire Interface (Firepod):
Seems like I'm always reinstalling drivers or on the phone with tech support for this unit. Very touchy. Sounds good when I can get it to work.
