Full creative control over your loops.

Propellerhead's ReCycle 2.1 is an incredibly useful creative tool that helps you make the most of your grooves by letting you work with sampled loops the same way you work with beats programmed from individual drum sounds, like alter the tempo, replace sounds, and process them individually. The music software is the perfect tool for quickly editing sampled parts, chopping up riffs, remixing and doing mash ups.

How is it done? Propellerhead ReCycle will analyze your groove and break it up into its rhythmic components. You are now in complete control and free to change the tempo or the pitch, without one affecting the other. And that's just scratching the surface.

Then what? Load the resulting REX2 file into your audio sequencer or software sampler and you can be the master of your grooves, once and for all.

Propellerhead ReCycle comes with Reason Adapted and Reload.

  • Tempo and Timing:
  • Automate the tedious process of making a sampled groove fit the tempo of your song
  • Change the tempo of a groove without altering its pitch
  • Change the timing of a groove--even quantize it
  • Tuning and Detuning:
  • Change the pitch of a groove without altering its pitch
  • Make pitched grooves (like guitar riffs) fit into songs in other keys
  • Remodel the Groove:
  • Remove and/or replace any sound inside the sampled groove without altering its feel
  • Create variations and fills out of a single loop
  • Alter the volume of the individual sounds in the groove
  • Processing:
  • Use ReCycle's Envelope, Transient Shaper, and EQ to energize your loop
  • Send different sounds in the groove to different sampler outputs or audio channels for individual processing
  • Alter the ambience of a groove
  • Automatically normalize the levels of the sounds in the groove for optimum sound quality
  • Go Beyond the Loop:
  • Automatically isolate and extract individual sounds out of long samples

If you have a new Mac, forget buying this!

Comments about Propellerhead ReCycle 2.1:

This is a top program
Look, I use ReCycle every day for years, fantastic and necessary to use Reason unless you like sounding like presets and industry wav files and being unoriginal.

Having said that, ReCycle 2.1 WILL NOT WORK on new model (intel processor, Lion OSX) systems. Mac's Lion operating system will not run any Power PC programs.

Be warned. I bounce my files from my studio PC to my studio MAC. I have that luxury. If you don't, do not buy. I think propellerhead's record might make rex files, I'm not certain.
Top quality and modulation of sound files
good price

Comments about Propellerhead ReCycle 2.1:

After using Reason 5 and basking in it's splendor, I had wanted to check out Recycle and work with some samples within Reason and saw the Propellerhead intro video on the product and wanted to check it out. I'm happy I took advantage of the trial version first because I found the product difficult to work with and in the end, turned back to my other tools for dealing with sampled material. While the interface of Recycle looked promising, most of the .WAV files I imported into Recycle were not editable and in all cases, most of the controls were greyed-out which frustrated me to no end and help in the forum on that issue didn't produce results. More annoying however was Recycle's inability to properly detect BPM information from the imported tracks. Your only option in Recycle to assist this process is to enter the amount of bars in the sampled item but unfortunately even with that info, Recycle still couldn't calculate BPM. With such an expensive product, the user should have the ability to instead enter whatever BPM is desired and Reason should be able to then adjust that track on the fly to match the desired BPM. It's also baffling why Recycle only accepts bars as it's measurement and should allow you enter other criteria to accomplish this. I use another product called VirtualDJ that does this easily by clicking the sync button, no need to enter BPM, bars or anything. Other products like Traktor also do this so I don't see why Recycle can't make this process even easier when Recycle's only use is to deal with sampled material! In the end, I uninstalled Recycle and instead work with Reason independently and dump my Reason portion into FL Studio or Abelton and then add my vocals and samples there. There may be more potential to this product and maybe the learning curve for Recycle is greater than Reason ironically, but in the end my frustration with Recycle made it's possible strengths not worth learning about as the product was not as intuitive as you would be led to believe.

Comments about Propellerhead ReCycle 2.1:

When used with Propellerhead's Reason software (version 2 and up), this product can really expand your productions. Be it drum loops or just about anything you can slice up, ReCycle 2.1 will let you do it with ease. I only wish that it let you record samples directly into ReCycle. All you have to do is import a wave, select the start and end points (needs to complete an entire bar phrase or more), input how many measures the phrase completes from the start to finish points, and let ReCycle figure out the tempo. From here, you can export the sample/loop with an file extension that only Reason can identify (Reason's Dr. Rex loop player will be able to play the loop back at any tempo you want without changing the pitch of the original sample), or you can modify the loop to a specific tempo directly within ReCycle and export it back to .wav to use in a D.A.W. Either way, if you are into loop-based productions or you just need to resample something to play at the tempo of one of your songs, ReCycle is the way to go. I just wish it were a little cheaper. :(
