i bought the cable and then downloaded the app on my iPHone 3GS. Imported some songs from my iTunes library (one of which is an original composition done in Garageband) and was immediateley able to play along while listening through headphones in the passenger seat of my drummer's van on the way to a gig. I could slow down the song (keeps the pitch the same) so I can learn the lick and then go back to original speed and keep jammin! Both the Guitarbud and JamAmp do what they say they do - I don't understand the negative reviews here. I also tried to plug the headphone out into self-powered speakers - works great! The Guitarbud works with other Apps as well like 4 track and GigBaby. I highly recommend Guitarbud and JamAmp.

I have read a number of reviews on this product and now that I have had the chance to play with it my summary is great idea but not quite there yet... My testing was done with the guitarbud and PRS Jam Amp.Most of the limitations in my opinion reside in the iTouch, mine is 3rd Generation. The hooks that are exposed by the ITouch do not include volume manipulation which is an issue. It took me quite some time (and a lot of frustration) to actually hear the output. Turns out that my volume HAD to be at 100% on the guitar in order to get any reading on the ITouch. I have tried other guitars and it seems to be consistent. At 99% volume it starts to cut out, below that no sound or worse some feedback that cuts in and out... The issue that this presents is my pickups sound over driven (as most good ones will) at that volume, I prefer clean non-distorted tones (about 70% vol) for practicing and I have not been able to get close with this setup. It's a 100% or nothing. The effects that come with it IMHO are not worth it. I have played with the 'crunch' and the 'reverb' and although my latency is fairly low, there is enough latency present between the 'clean' and effects that it is noticeable. I prefer to just play with the natural distortion which results from the guitar being at 100%.The ability to play mp3/wavs and play your guitar with it stands out. I have not played with the pitch and speed manipulations. I love the transfer method which is to open a browser on your computer, select the files and it is copied over to your ITouch - Absolutely Brilliant!!!The tuner is actually the best option within the product. Very accurate and doesn't jump around a lot. So for the price of the cable and software it is right around the price for a good tuner. Everything else is a plus so not a bad value. So keeping it all real, the software takes advantage of what is available to it and tries to make the best of it. I personally thought the cable was well done. I have seen other reviews complaining about it, but I really don't want the size of a patch cord running between the itouch and the guitar anyway, so I thought it was well done and seems to be quality. Will be very interesting to see where this all develops.

Comments about PRS Guitarbud: The Guitarist's Interface - For iPhone & iPod Touch:
It works great with Gigdaddy perfect for writing songs on the go. Had to play with volume on your guitar to get the right sound, but once you do it works great. Well worth the price o be able to record and listen to my guitar where ever I am.

This cable is a great idea. However I can't imagine how the idea could have been executed any worse. It looks and feels cheep, and sounds terrible.

I didn't have a good experience. Two problems.1) The headset jack was so tight, I needed pliers to get it loose.2) It doesn't work well with the iPhone; noisy with unpleasant feedback.Neat idea, but not good enough for most players.
Comments about PRS Guitarbud: The Guitarist's Interface - For iPhone & iPod Touch:
i was really hoping this would solve the iphone/guitar interface problem, but it hasn't. it just made me angry. the cable isn't shielded, there is no way to push a good loud signal through it without digital distortion and even worse, when i plugged it into its purpose built app, the experience was gut wrenching. when somebody makes this product the right way, app developers are going to start changing the way we play/practice/perform guitar using mobile devices... fact. the possibilities are exciting. i just hope a competing product comes out soon and wipes the guitarbud from our memories. then we can all go on rocking out through our guitars like we always dreamed.
Comments about PRS Guitarbud: The Guitarist's Interface - For iPhone & iPod Touch:
Junk. The idea is good, but it feels like it's the $2 cord that you get when you buy a cheap guitar package. Like others, I can get a signal into the phone, but it's very, very weak, unusable to record with. I don't know who Bond Cords is, but this feels like it's going to fall apart at the slightest tug. I have the iphone 3GS.I'm giving it a second weekend to play around with, and if I can't get a usable signal, it goes back to MF. This is too expensive of a cord to let it sit in a gig bag unused. I'm thinking that maybe this needs a DI box?
Comments about PRS Guitarbud: The Guitarist's Interface - For iPhone & iPod Touch:
The GuitarBud is a very poorly planned cable. Yes, you can get signal into the iPhone, but not very good signal. The cable crackles, pops and overdrives the input. It's not compatible with the iPhone first or second generation iPhones without an adaptor. The 6 foot cable is six feet between the phone end and the headphone output and guitar input end. All told, PRS makes good guitars, but their partnership with Bond Music Research to produce this cable is dragging their name down. Don't buy this.

I got this as a Christmas gift, at first I didn't know what to do with it, then I plugged my guitar into my iPhone, and BAM, I was recording and overdubbing guitar on my iPhone!!! This thing is crazy! I'm gonna buy a 2nd Guitarbud to keep in my acoustic/electric guitar case, then I can record on the beach if I want to!Guitarbud rocks, thank you PRS!

This is great. If you have an iPhone and you play guitar you need this. Works great with voice memo and peterson tuner.Have to play with the volume on your guitar to get the sound right for recording. But works great.Shows how good the input of the iPhone 3Gs is.
