OVERVIEW

Amazingly powerful output and killer sound in a compact cab.

Breaking the boundaries that once defined portable sound, the K12 delivers massive power, impeccable audio and uncompromising workmanship that stands up to the rigors of professional use. Even more impressive is you get all this in a remarkably compact, lightweight and stylish enclosure for effortless handling and setup. Outperforming many of its larger, 15-in. competitors, the K12 cranks out sound that seems almost unbelievable for its size.

Under the hood you'll find an efficient Class-D power module that pumps out 1000 watts of clean, distortion-free sound with crisp highs and deep, tight lows. With 75 degrees of coverage, the K12's 12-in. woofer drives low frequencies down to 48Hz making it ideal for a wide range of applications, especially DJing or live reinforcement of instruments. Equally comfortable as a stage monitor, the K12 enclosure has an angled side for use as a low-profile, horizontal wedge and a flat side for proper side-fill use.

Processing Technology

QSC incorporates several proprietary DSP technologies into the K12, including Digital Extension and Excursion Processing (DEEP). DEEP allows K12 to deliver levels of low-frequency extension previously impossible in enclosures of this size. Another innovation is Intrinsic Correction, which uses dozens of spatially-averaged measurements mapped to the processor to deliver smooth and accurate reproduction across the entire sound field. Preventing amplifier clipping or overload is QSC's proprietary GuardRail technology, which monitors the input voltage and controls the amplifier output stage before the onset of clipping.

Connectivity & Monitoring

The back of the K12 features two XLR-combi inputs, each with its own level control. Both accommodate line-level inputs and one may be switched to microphone level sensitivity. Phono (RCA) input jacks are also included for connection of consumer electronics sources. Dual XLR outputs are provided for dual "loop-thru" XLR/M connectors and a single XLR jack is available as a summed output. All three input sources may be used at once and mixed via the two gain control knobs. In addition, user EQ controls are provided to select between different subwoofer settings. For installed applications, connecting a commonly available potentiometer to the unit's Euroblock connector allows the operator to have gain control from a remote location. Multiple K Series units can be daisy-chained together to one centralized control.

Suspension and Mounting

The K12 may be pole-mounted, suspended, or yoke-mounted. The K12 yoke accessory kit (not included) allows for either horizontal or vertical yoke mounting, providing a flexible means of attaching K Series loudspeakers to a building structure or truss. When suspended deployment is required, M10 threaded inserts support vertical or horizontal suspension, while the integral pole-mount socket accommodates 35 mm speaker poles for use on a speaker stand or over a sub. The pole socket is designed so that the speaker may be angled down 7.5 degrees in order to cover the audience while keeping acoustic energy off reflective walls and ceilings.

We use two of them for my wife's folk / Indie band for vocals, guitars and keyboards. I use one as my electric guitar amp through a HD500x. The sound is crystal clear and loud. We have cheaper Deal of the Day powered speakers for monitors and it will literraly take 4 of those to equal the sound from just one of these. For my needs I did not buy the sub woofers. Vocals through a quality mic are amazing. They are at a high price point but with these the value is there. I compared the K-12s to higher priced systems at local music store and to me they sound better at half the cost. We usually use a mixer but I have shared one spaeker with another guitar player both of us with modeling effects boards and there were no issues using the built in mixer for our 2 signals.

really want to love these speakers, but used as wedges on stage, our cables FELL OUT of their combo neutrick jacks due to vibrations. it is a very loose fit. a little extra, and they could have installed locking connectors. silly place to cut costs. tried to get them fixed, and was met with disbelief, even though others complain of the same problem online. cannot replace w/ locking connectors, as they have a different layout (into the pcb).

otherwise, they are nice. just stupid that a low priced part makes this such a problem.

Comments about QSC K12 12" Powered PA Speaker:

These things will spoil you.The only thing I can guess to the bad reviews on these is that they reproduce EXACTLY what you put into them. If your using sub-par gear, or low quality music, they will amplify it's flaws. Cheaper speakers mudd your sound, and let you get away with less fidelity source. My favorite thing about these is that they do not distort when you turn them up. You can mount these on poles without any effort.

    Surprisingly good for large venue!

Comments about QSC K12 12" Powered PA Speaker:

I don't actually own the K12s -- I own the KW122s -- but I went to check out a venue we've been asked to play last night, and there was a single K12 on top of a K-Sub on each side of the stage, and I was *seriously* impressed at how good the sound was throughout the room. This room was large, certainly more than 100' deep and close to 100' wide, with a ceiling 30'+ high. But the sound was clear, balanced and well dispersed throughout the room, and vocals were clear and easily intelligible even at the back wall (a hallway, actually). I don't regret spending the extra money on the KW122s and KW181, but I can't imagine *anyone* being disappointed by the performance of these cabs. Killer value!
These are ridiculously good for the price. Take it from someone who spent considerably more for the KW122s.

    handle?

Comments about QSC K12 12" Powered PA Speaker:

replaced 10year old mackie srm450's with a pair of QSC k12s. would have got new mackies but kept hearing bad reviews from DJs about the new mackies. something about how mackies are being made by a different company and just dont sound as good as before. heard great things about the k12s , have had them for a month and am extremely pleased with them. main use : polynesian shows, everything going into the mixer for 3-5 musicians and an emcee. so thats guitars, uke, steel, mikes, and sometimes we'll even mike the toeres (tahitian "log" drums) and pahu (bass drum) if we need to. the k12 handles everything just fine. only one complaint why only one side handle? granted these are light speakers (about the same weight as the mackies) but its awkward lifting them up onto the stands.

the K12 is one of the best product on the market for live sound.
if you're doing events or party - these are alot better than the JBL.
If you're doing DJ - you will probably like the JBL a bit better.

I decided on the QSC over the JBL because of warranty and the more flexible options over the JBL.

QSC is a better value than any other product on the market. It is better sounding and will play louder with more clarity than comparably priced units. The QSC support team is fantastic to work with and will answer your questions 24/7. I own 8 of these units and a complete QSC PA and monitor system for a live rock band.

      My opinion for the K12

      By EDDIE LOZADA

      See all my reviews

Comments about QSC K12 12" Powered PA Speaker:

The only thing I can wish for is locking connectors for te XLR cables and better speaker covers(sold separately) to protect the grills. Other than that this speaker is great!!!
First I want to point out this speaker offers as many connecting options as you might need. 1/4" high impedance lines, mic lines and RCA at the same time. Very powerful 1,000W amps perfectly matched with the cabinet speakers. The sound is amazingly clear at all volumes. Very very loud sound!! Matched with the Ksubs these can shake any room. I change my old Bose 802 set up and Im very happy.
The speaker grill are prone to bend with the minimum hit so you need to treat them carefully and preferably buy the separated cover for each speaker. The handles are very comfortable making it easy to mounts them on any stand. The controls on the back are very clear with good labels and nice volume controls and switches. The sound is simpy sweet at all volumes. I play keyboards with full frequency spectrum and I can hear everything!!!! you can play them nasty loud and still get that cristal clear pro sound to impress the client. These are plastic enclosures......lightweight and effective but not as strong as wood. If you need road toughness you should buy the wood version which is a little more expensive.
No regrets this is a very nice speaker. I think my money was well spent.

These speakers are so much better than anything else (close to it in price) it's stupid. A speaker cabinet of this quality matched perfectly with a power amp of this quality would be crazy expensive. Get two of these and call it a day.

Comments about QSC K12 12" Powered PA Speaker:

It's been over a year and more than 100 gigs since I bought my k12's. No technical problems, (never lost an xlr chord from the back of speaker due to vibration) .
The k12's ability to fill any venue has been proven time and again, surprising a few of the "in-house" sound crews of some of the larger venues i've played. However, more than the raw volume,it is the clarity of these speakers that has impressed me most. Because I am using just a mixer (mackie cfx 12 mkii), there are many different instruments and voices that have to be heard. This has been accomplished by using the "vocal boost" and "deep" speaker settings.
Yes, the grill is easily dented and I am being very careful now,but the missing side handle hasn't been a problem after all.

I use these for smaller outdoor concerts. I run an M7CL with the stage rack going into 4 K12 tops per side on top of 3 Mackie 1501 subs per side and use k12 as wedges for all the bands. I love this set up. It is one of the best portable systems we've used and there's not much else i would take over it for my specific uses.

Just purchased a pair of the K12's and used them at a medium sized gig (200 people). They are awesome.. the sound is clear and loud. we are a 5 piece rock/alternative band. Never thought a 12" speaker could replace a cabinet w/ two 15" But it did. we run the K12's w/ one, dual 18" low end. Result, less equipment, better sound

Comments about QSC K12 12" Powered PA Speaker:

The dynamic range is squishy compression giving a dull flat. Bass drum sounds like tapping. It has about a 15db dynamic range like FM radio. Cheap Compression Sound is cold and dead. The brochure is the best part!!! The K series seems popular by most reviews. Reminds me of comic book X-Ray glasses.

Comments about QSC K12 12" Powered PA Speaker:

Outstanding Everything. Plenty of power, easy to use and better sound with far less bulk than any other speaker that is comparable. Only down fall might be and I emphasize might be is that they could scratch easy. As I was putting the speaker on the stand for the first time I scratched the bottom of it with my stand and I barely touched it. But this is outweighed by the many pros. I bought the QSC K12 case to match and I'm very ESTATIC!!!

Comments about QSC K12 12" Powered PA Speaker:

These speakers are fantastic. Clarity, precision, depth, small size big sound. I initially went to Guitar Center to pick up the new JBL Eon-G3 15" 450watts and the floor rep completely turned my head around. We A/B'd ONE K-12 against TWO Eons and the sound difference was absolutely absurd. Yes, the overall bass output was a little more full with the 2 eons (two 15" speakers will do that) but if you have a sub, there's nothing to worry about. The best part is the K-12s are the same price as the Eons!!! The K-12 even has a very affective Sub-boost switch if you're using them w/out a sub. I'd recommend these speakers for any use whether it's DJ or live band.

I bought the QSC K12 and Mackie SRM450v2. I placed them side by side and ran tests ranging from simple microphones, MP3 player, keyboard to a complete band sound. You will be disappointed. First of all K12 are NOT 1000W. That?s a marketing lie. I spoke to their support an the speakers have two (2) not bridged 500W amps, so at the best you will get 500W at Clip level power. For my test I had my mixer set to flat and speaker level set to unity (0).No comparison. Mackie?s had a much cleaner an fuller sound.K12 were a bit tighter, but no definition for mids and highs, even though they have a dedicated 500W amp.K12?s look nice and are light, but for the money the sound was bad.
