A DI box with towering guitar tone!

The Radial JDX Reactor is a direct box designed to capture the explosive dynamics and warm tone of the electric guitar by connecting between the head and cabinet of a guitar amplifier to provide a direct feed to the PA or recording system.

100% discrete class-A circuitry, multi-stage filtering and a unique reactive load all interact with the signal coming from the head and the electromagnetic back impulse from the cabinet to produce a more realistic rendering.

In use, the Radial JDX DI box improves the consistency of the guitar signal over a typical microphone, as irregularities of mic placement and varying acoustics no longer play the dominant role on stage. When combined with a microphone, fatter tones can be created by double tracking and stereo imaging the two signals for more "produced" results.

Features
  • Guitar amplifier direct box with reactive load
  • Speaker cabinet emulation for natural tone
  • Direct feed to console eliminates need for a mic

Comments about Radial Engineering JDX Reactor Guitar Amp and Cabinet Direct Box:

I've tried usiing many amps' direct out for house sound and in-ear monitors, but they all sounded pretty poor despite any given amp's claims of a quality cabinet emulation out. I've never been that keen on the sound of a miced cab in my in-ears either, so I did some experimenting with DI boxes until I found this one. Finally, I have a DI that sounds good in my in-ear monitors.

Comments about Radial Engineering JDX Reactor Guitar Amp and Cabinet Direct Box:

Use this instead of a mic in front of a guitar amp. It will capture the total sound of the amp better than a mic, with no bleed and no worries about mic position. The sound quality is best heard when using IEMs. It will satisfy the guitar player who insists on putting his/her "special sound" through the PA system.

Absolutely perfect reproduction of my guitar in the PA. Better than trying to find the sweet spot for your cab mic when time is of the essence during live show setups. GET IT!

          Ultimate problem solver

          By Pif

          from St. Paul, MN

Comments about Radial Engineering JDX Reactor Guitar Amp and Cabinet Direct Box:

Used SM57s for years, but while in the studio I tried out my producer's passive Palmer DI. The idea of a DI that could take the load of a "speaker out" was new to me, but I loved how it captured the girth of the power tube section of a head. I intended to get one, but then found that Radial made the JDX, essentially an active version of the Palmer. Got it, fell in love, intend to order a second one! You just can't beat how it captures the power tube secton of the head without the hassle of mic'ing a cab (bumps, shifts, stage noise, etc.). Makes recording SUPER EASY as well!

Comments about Radial Engineering JDX Reactor Guitar Amp and Cabinet Direct Box:

i just received the jdx today so i have not tested it through all of it's paces yet but i also own a hughes&kettner red box pro.i will say they are each great peices of gear anyone who tells you that speaker simulator mess up your tone does not have a clue!the jdx wins i will say because i literly can't hear the difference between my dr.z z-best 2-12 cab.and it also it's made better the red box has some cheap switches on it. but other than that it is also very cool.plus it does not need a power supply the red box is slightly noisier but not bad and the sound is a little different than my cab but still full sounding.mics are great when there great but there are so many varibles but not with the speaker simulators.i hope i help in my eval.of this product..it's a great peice of gear...

A Great tool for live or studio recording

          By jcroft

          from Southgate, MI

Comments about Radial Engineering JDX Reactor Guitar Amp and Cabinet Direct Box:

I was a little skeptical about this item, but I'll never sell it now that I own it. Its un believable how good this thing sounds when combined with a mic'd amp or when recording stereo guitar tracks with different levels of gain. I personally love to combine it with Guitar Rig 2 and use all the different speaker cab and mic emulations it offers. You can really mold some really cool sounds.
