OVERVIEW

High-performance 48V phantom-powered active direct box designed for higher-output instruments.

The Radial Pro48's innovative digital switching power supply significantly increases headroom and allows for less distortion while yielding a smooth, linear response extending from 20Hz to well above 100kHz resulting in natural, uncolored signal transfer. This superior performance makes the Pro48 an ideal candidate for use with today's battery-powered active basses and acoustic guitars that tend to overload other direct boxes.

The compact Pro48 is built road-ready with 14-gauge steel in a unique bookend design that provides protective zones around the switches and connectors. The internal welded I-beam construction assures outside stress will not torque the PC board thus assuring longer product life.

Pro48 - typical applications

The Pro48 is designed for high-use applications wherever an active direct box is called for. A 15dB pad switch is provided to tame hot signal and expands the range of instrument preamps and the ground lift switch helps eliminate hum and buzz problems caused by ground loops.

Comments about Radial Engineering Pro48 Active 48-Volt Compact Active Direct Box:

As a keyboard player, I've shied away from active DIs for many years - they require power and can easily be overloaded with a hot board or synth. But I tried the Pro48 on a keyboard with unusually low output that just didn't have enough juice to drive my ProD2. Not the usual use case for an active DI, but I didn't want to deal with a preamp when playing live, and I didn't want anything that required external power (the venues we play often have pretty sketchy wiring, and line noise can be a problem). Boy, this thing was a prayer answered - no fussy features, built like a tank, and brought my quiet keyboard right up to the same level as everything else in the band. I love the way keys sound through the ProD2, so I was hyper critical of what the Pro48 would do tone-wise. The answer is NOTHING - it's even more transparent than the ProD2. Lows are full and articulate, highs ring out without sounding brittle, and the signal output from low to high is as flat as a pancake. I have yet to overload it - and I haven't even touched the -15db pad. This is now the most boring but essential piece of musical equipment I own! I would be willing to try this with any instrument - my phobia is cured. Thanks Radial!

Comments about Radial Engineering Pro48 Active 48-Volt Compact Active Direct Box:

The only way to get a clear, loud, true signal from your guitar or bass to your recording rig. I use this Radial PRo48 for my guitars and bass. (Some are active, some are not.) This works with all the combinations thanks to the -15pad. No noise, high quality internal parts, and built like a tank! If you are recording without one, yo have no idea what you are missing. Get one!

Comments about Radial Engineering Pro48 Active 48-Volt Compact Active Direct Box:

A solidly built box from the guys at Radial. Delivers accurate representation of my instruments in to my DAW. Phantom power keeps me from having to keep buying batteiries and the -15db pad is a must for plugging straight in to my interface. It's nothing fancy but does exactly what I needed it to do. If you're looking for a good active DI I highly suggest the PRO48.

Got a great tone with this DI box. Using a P-bass Special with active pick-ups and recording on Logic Pro. Simple, easy.
