OVERVIEW

Portable, professional 24-channel USB audio interface.

RME' professional audio interface Babyface Pro gets a bit of an update. With superior attention to detail and craftsmanship, the new Babyface Pro is created with the highest precision carved from a block of aluminum. Portable, but extremely high-end, this 24-channel USB 2.0 audio interface incorporates newly designed analog and digital circuits. Its innovative energy saving technologies provide supreme ïdelity with no compromises in level, noise or distortion.

For the main I/O RME have designed a completely new XLR socket, which integrates seamlessly into the housing and saves space. The two headphone outputs, oïering TRS and mini-jack sockets in parallel, have completely separate driver stages to perfectly match low and high impedance headphones, guaranteeing pristine sonic results no matter what type of headphone is used. The clever user interface is informative and clearly laid out. It makes access to every feature and conïguration mode of the Babyface Pro intuitive and easy to use. Even in stand-alone mode, routing and mixing of inputs to outputs directly on the device opens a whole world of possible applications.

Babyface Pro' two digitally controlled preamps provide individually switchable 48V phantom power. These brand new circuits feature gain of up to 70 dB, adjustable in steps of 3 dB, plus a relay-driven PAD, resulting in exceptional EIN (Equivalent Input Noise) performance as well as line overload protection, and enough gain for even the lowest level microphones.

Latest generation low latency AD/DA converters, combined with RME' unique SteadyClock technology, result in exceptional speciïcations that will satisfy the most demanding of professionals.

Babyface Pro' incredibly eïƒcient design almost never requires an external power supply “ it' perfectly stable on USB 3 bus power, and also most USB 2 ports, with no degradation in any technical speciïcation. This makes it perfect for mobile recording, even with a pair of your favorite condenser microphones.

Combining a huge feature set with sonic excellence and intuitive control, whether for the studio or on the move, the RME Babyface Pro is the most comprehensive and versatile compact audio interface ever built.

Comments about RME Babyface Pro Audio Interface:

I've come to rely on the audio quality standards of RME products. I have the, (somewhat older) FireFace 800 and it hasn't slipped in performance one iota. So, I purchased the RME Babyface Pro to be more mobile and am very pleased with it's weighty feel for durability sake, and it's straight-forward operation...easy to maneuver around on. With only one breakout cable, (MIDI Cable) and integrated XLR and Line Inputs, it's easy and compact enough to pack up and fly! There's no doubting this piece's performance and reliability...it's a sure bet that you'll find it to be professional-grade quality. Its new design far exceeds my expectations the deeper I get into its capabilities. I always feel my recordings are in good hands with this Babyface Pro. I'll not get into the Apogee / RME "which is better" debate, they're both great but for me, this is the clear winner!

Comments about RME Babyface Pro Audio Interface:

I can't really compare it with much. The only interface I've worked with is an old MBox 2 which was so frustrating. It would crackle, have latency, sound muffled, and sometimes not even work. So I decided to just spend the money and hope for the best. This thing works great. I work on a Surface Pro 2 running Windows 10 through the docking station which is essentially a hub. The manual says for best results not to use a hub, but it works fine - maybe because the dock has it's own power source.. The latency is excellent. Without the Babyface Pro, playing thru a midi keyboard is difficult because the latency, but with the Babyface and it's ASIO driver, latency is not even noticeable. Took a minute to get used to the TotalMix, but not a big issue. All u really need is the basics of the routing and u're off n running. Haven't done too much recording, but I did do a little guitar and it sounded good. Haven't tested the preamps yet. Right now, I'm just glad that it works, no glitching or compatibility issues. I know interfaces have probably come a long way in the last decade or so, so maybe it's not worth it for most to spend the money, but i'm very happy.

Comments about RME Babyface Pro Audio Interface:

I've owned the Motu 2408MK3 for over a decade. Though I appreciated the flexibility, I hated to the sound quality. It was muddy and distant sounding no matter what I did. I finally got rid of it and went with this. The sound quality is far superior. Sure, it has fewer I/O, but I realized I don't need much anyways...I need better sound. Win 7 and PT 10 love this guy's class compliant drivers. The software mixer is pretty awesome. Overall, it's motivated me to start recording and I would definitely get this again.
