Comments about RME Hammerfall HDSP 9652 PCI Card:
There's better units out there and there's cheaper, but I think this card gets close to much more expensive in sound quality. I like that it's expandable too.
Not much for features really, but it has what it needs. I use every feature it has and will one day, hopefully add an expansion daughter card to expand it further.
I don't give it a top rating solely because the ICs COULD be a little better for how much they charge for this... and the breakout cables are junk, absolute junk. That said, I moved from a "high end" M-Audio card to this and this slays my old card in every way. One of the first things I did was load up an old mix I did and the drums had so much more dimension, vocals were clearer without being harsh. It's like the difference between a 2D and 3D version of the same movie.
It's expensive, no doubt, but worth it.
Comments about RME Hammerfall HDSP 9652 PCI Card:
I'll keep this review short. I've wrote a much longer one at Recording Review. I've used numerous interfaces. This one as been the most stable, has had the lowest latency, and has had the lowest CPU usage. The internal routing is outstanding once you get the hang of it. I wish I would have bought it a long time ago.I gave the features a 3.0 because, well, it's intentionally designed to not have any features. N/A would have been more appropriate. I love being able to use my own headphone amp, my own hardware reverb for headphone mixes, and my own converters.
Comments about RME Hammerfall HDSP 9652 PCI Card:
I've owned & used it for the last 3years.This card has no faults other than price (which is a blessing compaired protools prices), but destroys protools along the lines of being non-pripiorty & wide open in possiablities. RME as made all issues hardware or software non existant. These cards are the bench mark by which all cards should aspire to be.
