I own 3 NT2-As and they perform flawlessly; they just do the job transparently. I use them for stereo recordings (Blumlein, etc.), for close miking of acoustic guitar, bass cabinet, and vocals. I'm running them through ultra high end cables and an Apogee Ensemble. Never once have I listened to the playback and thought "that's not how I hoped it would sound." Instead they are very flattering for all sound sources. The switchability means that I can reduce sensitivity or cut out the bottom end to eliminate boominess on the acoustic's neck mic or on the bass cabinet. I also like using the omni pattern with vocals to give a more transparent sound. Obviously stereo recording would not be possible without the switchable pattern. I had been in the market for a tube condenser but finances dictated a solid state. I haven't been disappointed at all with the NT2-A. Solid quality! I doubt you'll be disappointed.

I was very confident when purchasing this one after reading a lot positive comments. However, the recording vocal is very different from the real vocal. This mic makes voice become very thin, very annoying, and not warm at all. Totally sad about it. Then i decided to return it and exchange for AKG C4000B mic with much higher quality. If you want a good mic, pay more to get it. Dont recommend this Rode NT-2 mic

The NT2-A really captures the spirit, warmth and complex dynamics and intricacies of the Acoustic guitar and the male voice, which is what I use mine for.I recommend the NT2-A to ALL who are considering adding a professional microphone to their inventory. It beats U87s hands down, no comparison. Plus, for only $399, I believe it is also the absolute best value for your dollar.
This mirophone is excellent for many different uses i mainly use this microphone for hip hop vocals and have found that the low end cut off on the mic is great and same with the hi-pass filter as well overall i find the mic to be very unique in it's own sense very versatile would recommend to all of you!
Bought a Rode NT2-A a year ago from Musicians Friend for vocals in the home studio. Was delighted with the results. Bought a second one & used them for mid/side micing of a very large choir, and the results were amazing. I have a large selection of mics, but I keep coming back to the NT2-A for all micing chores - guitars, strings, woodwinds, drums. Just wish Rode would package them with a hard case & shock mount, though using them without the shock mount hasn't been an issue yet. Have used U-87s for comparison, but the differences are so slight as to be insignificant, so save the $$$. Don't be a toad...get a Rode.

I bought this mic in an emergency situation AND had to use it as a proximity mic to pick up bass, drums, and various other instruments around it for a recording. I can honestly say that this mic performed very well considering most mics aren't designed for that situation. I can't wait to use it on vocals and other conditions in my studio and I don't have one regret buying this mic and you won't either.

How can it be? A microphone that at first cost only 699$ sounded as good as some other microphones that cost more than 1000$? It is so warm and can do so much! Sounds great on both male and female. Instruments sound so real throught this and it's also perfect for capturing ambient noises, which add that crisp effect to some songs. It is cheap and powerful. One day rode will be boxing neumann for the title of the best microphone producting company, I assure you. Buy this, buy this, and don't look back! Helped in music and voice-acting.
We use this microphone in a bluegrass/folk application for up to 5 musicisans. We make use of the cardioid pattern which picks up our voices and collective instruments (guitar, banjo, mandolin, fiddle. It's effective, simple and sounds great.
The NT-2a is the best value I have ever seen! the clarity and warmth is great. It has excellent feedback rejection for live applications. One thing to note; they seem to have a bit of a hotspot around the 500hz range but that shouldn't be a problem for anyone who knows what they are doing.
Unfortunately I have to sell this mic. I have used this for the past two years as my go-to mic for vocals, acoustic guitars, guitar cabs (second mic) and as a room mic for drums. I recorded every band practice for a year with just this mic through a tube pre. It has such an unaffected sound that some aren
