    Compiments to Roland

    By GodSurfer

Comments about Roland CS-15R STEREO MICROPHONE:

I bought this mic because it is designed for the Roland CD-2e recorder. I use the CS-15R to record my acoustic guitar and solo vocals during songwriting sessions. The sound quality I get from this mic is definitely an improvement over the internal mics of the CD-2e. I get the best results by placing the CS-15R 18-24 inches away at mouth level. This mic is a little pricey, but worth every penny.

    Great First Mic

    By Nathan-.DVVk

    from Lorain, OH

Comments about Roland CS-15R STEREO MICROPHONE:

Before I start my review, I would like to state a few things; 1) Even though I play rock/metal, I use this mic for field recording and voice-overs. 2) This is my first pro microphone I've owned, though I have used the Shure SM58. 3) I will be telling my experiences with this mic, but if you want to get to the point, read the Pros and Cons at the bottom.I bought this mic almost a year ago. I put in the battery, plugged it in, and talked into it for a while. I use a laptop and Adobe Audition to record the audio. Upon review, the audio needed much amplification. I brought up the volume, and the audio was very noisy. (I don't think that's neccesarily the mic's fault, it might be my sound card) I used the Noise Reduction on Audition and that got rid of much of the noise. I talked again, but louder, and sure enough, the audio astounded me. All I needed to do was boost the bass frequencies, and the audio sounded just like I wanted it to. I used it on my tape recorder, and the audio was perfect. I tried to put it through my Crate acoustic amp, but as I kept turning up the volume on the amp, I heard nothing. I had before put it through my Fender bass amp, it was loud and clear. I figured the battery needed replacing, so I bought a new battery that would replace an LR-44. I put it in, still nothing. Now it won't even come out of my bass amp. Again, I'm not entirely sure it's the mic's fault, it might be the battery. It's designed to replace 4 or 5 other battery types. It's not a dedicated LR-44. Also, the way you're supposed to replace the battery is ridiculous. You have to use a screwdriver to press a metal flap to loosen it, then wedge it out of the terminals at the same time. Not very convinient, if you ask me.Here are the PROs and CONs.PROs: Very portable, nice hand clip that allows you to hold it like a gun, exceptional stereo seperation, very simple operation, and the audio quality is WAY better than anything you'd find at Best Buy, etc.CONs: The cord is too short, noisy when put through a computer, (it might be the sound card) and the battery-changing issue. All in all, I think this is a great first pro microphone. It's not exceptional, but great.
