Comments about Roland TRI-CAPTURE: USB Audio Interface:

I bought this on the recommendations and ratings of others. They seem to be correct. The unit was really easy to connect and set up and the when I went to use it- it did a wonderful job. No it does not take the place of the nore expensive units but for the limited inputs that it has it really performed well as far as I have tested it so far.

Comments about Roland TRI-CAPTURE: USB Audio Interface:

Like all of the Roland products in my experience, the Tri-Capture does everything it says it does. When GarageBand didn't immediately recognize it I contacted Roland and they got back right away via e-mail to inform me that you have to reconfigure in GarageBand, and not just in Apple Preferences. Roland continues to have the most available tech support in the industry.

Comments about Roland TRI-CAPTURE: USB Audio Interface:

This is an excellent little device. I've owned it for about two years now, and it's still working beautifully.

If you're just starting out with home recording, and need a device that can hook up a guitar/mic up to a computer, this is perfect. Everything is organized and neatly labeled, and very easy to understand (as opposed to the scattered, Etch-a-sketch-from-Hell design of some more expensive interfaces). There's a mic jack with phantom power, a guitar/instrument hi-Z jack, a jack for your iPod if you want, some monitor outs, and a headphone knob, all of which have a little light to warn you when/if their signal peaks. I think that for the bulk of recording, that's honestly all you need. Occasionally, it gets annoying having to unplug my electric so I can plug in my bass for a track, but that's more my own laziness than a lack of a feature.

There are some things I wish it had, though. For one, I wish there was a second XLR jack, so I could have two mics running at once. As it stands, I can't mic my acoustic guitar separate from my vocals. It all has to use the same mic, and that can make playing while singing a pain. An extra headphone jack and some MIDI ports would also be nice, but the former is missing from most interfaces and the latter only exists on more expensive models.

Overall, this is an excellent interface for a home-studio setup, and you'll be happy with it 99% of the time. The other 1% comes down to a few bells and whistles, plus a lack of a second XLR.

good deal for a low budget

          By daniel kaufman

Comments about Roland TRI-CAPTURE: USB Audio Interface:

Even though it is missing some features i like to see on an interface, for the money it is a great deal. I am very happy with this and will continue to use it untill i can upgrade.
i rate it a 7 because it does not have the monitor/direct playback volume adjustment and i had to hook my vocal and guitar processer up to a reference speaker to control input volume and direct play volume, usually the input volume is lower than the direct play back volume and unless you hook up a referance speaker to your plug in instruments you can not tweak them seperately. I love the input monitor on/off button. The mute button is cool but an adjustable master volume would have been better, phantom power/ hi-z buttons are cool. the 1/4 inch outputs for the studio monitors sound the best and most clear i have heard so far. If you have a keyboard, mic, and guitar dont worry, you can plug them all in at the same time.
If your a cakewalk user like i am and currently on a low budget this is a great deal for the money, good quality audio interface. It is well made and very stable.
for the $130 i paid it is good, a brand new roland audio interface for that price is a great deal. it also comes with sonar le software to get you started unless you already using cakewalk.

Great value at a great price

Comments about Roland TRI-CAPTURE: USB Audio Interface:

My new best friend. Acts as a middle man between me and my computer. Recordings sound nice and smooth.
This is a great little interface. I use it with a laptop computer. Works really well. Hooks directly into the usb and powered by usb as well. Plug guitar, xlr mic, cd player or mp3 and studio speakers or hedphones. Also the Sonar LE is a light version but still has a lot to offer. easily upgradable through Cakewalk. Just get a condensor mic and your good to go. recording tutorials make it a lot easier for beginers. would definitly recomend for a little home studio where you want to learn as you record.
Very nice compact design. all knobs are labeled and easy to use and understand.
Great price. expecially coming with Sonar LE. As a home studio for beginers and advanced this is a great deal.
