I bought this for use on my home recording system for music. I wanted to have multi headphone use for recording and playback. It is a simple digital set up. This little power house works just fine for me, and it has some extras I liked in a low budget headphone amp. Having both 1/4 inch and mini jacks at the outputs for the headphones is a really nice and handy. The input has also two ways for connection, both stereo RCA and a single stereo line. This made set up so easy, because you had options to choose from. I used the single stereo line and just plugged it into the headphone jack [ I did use a right angle jack, which I also bought at the time I bought this amp] on my recording board, and was off and operational within about 3-5 minutes. I found keeping the board levels at a reasonable vol as you would using the headphones for yourself, it was easy to allow a simple change in vol for others [I`m a bit hard of hearing after years of early live R&R stage work]. True, if you push this amp to hard into a high setting, it will start to distort...but it`s so simple to find the compromise, that I only mention it for the sake of those that would want to keep board vol to far down, and try pumping up with the unit only. This unit is built very well and tough. For something this well built and functional, and for under $50, I think I got not only what I paid for, but more. I`ve used a couple other headphone amps at other home studios that were in this "up to a $100" type price range, and this beats them out. Simply put, this is a great value for the money. If you really want or need more, the next step is to head into the $150-$300 type range. For me, and my space limitations, and the use I was looking for....I got the bang for my buck.

I got this with a pair of BeyerDynamic DT 770 PRO headphones, for use with my laptop at work. I'm not a musician; I'm one of those snobby "audiophile" guys. I thought I might use this to get by until I can fit one of them old-fangled tube amps in my budget. As far as stinkers go, this one certainly takes the cake. Before I even bought the amp I remarked about the hamfisted volume faders, but at a $40 price tag, who cares, right?Powering it up was a debacle. The input/output jacks were twitchy, the thing wasn't great at actually amplifying sound, and touching the volume faders made crackly sounds (probably because I created pressure on the twitchy jacks). It didn't take me long to pack the thing in its box and give it the one-finger salute. Buh-bye, nasty, nasty headphone amp!

Comments about Rolls HA43 Stereo Headphone Amp:

Being a novice guitarist and a mediocre singer, I needed to practice and improve. I wanted to hear up close how well or how bad I really sound. I use this little amp to hook headphones to a two channel acoustic guitar amp that did not have a headphone jack. With the headphones I could really tell about the clarity of my guitar's notes as well as my vocal tone and the balance between the instrument and vocals.

You can also use this amp if you want to hook headphones to your acoustic-electric guitar for a quiet practice session & you won't need to use a guitar amp for this. With the headphones you can clearly hear each note and how well your chord changes are being made. You can adjust the volume of your headphones with the sliders on the HA43 and you can tone shape with the preamp on your guitar. It makes learning to do hammer-ons, pulloffs & slides more fun since you can actually hear them up close.

Of course this amp has many more uses than I have mentioned. I really enjoy using it and didn't have to invest in a new guitar amp. Buy yourself one and have a little fun.

I've had mine for 3+ Years

Comments about Rolls HA43 Stereo Headphone Amp:

It's simple and sounds great. As long as your source is clean, then it will sound great on good headphones. I keep the volumes in the middle and it sounds great with no need to boost volume at the box (but its there if I sometimes need it). I use Audio-Technica ATH-M50, Sennheiser HD280, plus AKG K701 and it all sounds great. This Headphone Amp is great and has never let me down.

Only for light work and monitoring

Comments about Rolls HA43 Stereo Headphone Amp:

This product is a mirror image to the Nady HA1X4 - both in design and sound. it does not do a good job reproducing low end frequencies, but it will amplify 4 sets of headphones. I use it only for voice projects. You will have to search for another amp if you are looking to perform mixing or if you need something musical that will faithfully reproduce full frequencies... because this is not it.

    GREAT!!

Comments about Rolls HA43 Stereo Headphone Amp:

This headphone amp was perfect for recording in a basement with 3 other musicians, but it's biggest use is the wife and I watching movies or TV after the kids go to bed. I just hooked it up to our receiver and now we each can listen at our own comfort levels (mine loud!) and not wake up the kid's or disturb the neighbors. We've pretty much used it every day for at least 5 years and still working perfectly. Awesome product!!

Comments about Rolls HA43 Stereo Headphone Amp:

Great pice of equipment. Simple , solid construction. Quiet operation , crystal clear soud with 1/8" or 1/4" headphones. If you are mostlikely using a mixer , just hook up a stero cable(ring, tip, sleeve)and that's it. No problem....Oh yes and don't forget the headphones of course...

    Good Sound; Good Price

    By DLeess

    from New Canaan, CT

Comments about Rolls HA43 Stereo Headphone Amp:

It never ceases to amaze me that the vast majority of those who give poor reviews to reasonably good, fairly priced gear, invariably haven't set up the equipment properly. I've had the Rolls Headphone Amp for 5+ years. It does the job, provides a strong, undistorted signal and can operate with four headphones, each with different impedances. But it has to set up correctly with a stereo 1/4" jack plugged into the stereo input. It does the simple task it is supposed to do and a very fair price.

    Rolls HA43

    By Corey Hall

    from Indianapolis IN

Comments about Rolls HA43 Stereo Headphone Amp:

I own and use this unit when I need more than just my headphones plugged in. I've had the unit filled with four headsets and all was quite clear and pleasant. This is an excellent little amp for straight monitoring. I would not recommend this for any post production work or mixing, just for simple monitoring. I believe some people think this unit can be a " universal" type headphone amp and it just isn't. Also, you should not have to crank these all the way to "10" to get the volume you're after. If you have to crank it all the way up then it would be best to check your other equipment and determine if something there needs to be adjusted. Half way up is all that you should need. You wouldn't crank your mix desk up past -0- and you should not have to on this as well. Same rules apply. ;)

I record with 3 other musicians and for home recording, this little amp is great. In my space, its a little tight. So the small size does matter.

Comments about Rolls HA43 Stereo Headphone Amp:

I bought two of these a couple of years ago thinking hey...they're not much. i'll deal with these until i can get a better headphone ampl. i don't see any reason to use one of these machines. for my mix it only sent a signal to the right ear of any set of headphones i plugged into it. on top of that it distorts anything i sent through. the faders are pretty sad and if you touch them it crackles.
