OVERVIEW

Small pencil condenser pair, great for instruments.

The sE5 Pair sets a new standard for small-diaphragm condenser microphones in its price range and is perfect for both studio and live use on drums, pianos and virtually any acoustic stringed instrument thanks to its smooth full-range frequency response and excellent transient handling.

Finished in matte black, each sE5 features a cardioid polar pattern, 100Hz bass cut and -10/-20db pad switches. Included with the sE5 Pair are two custom shock mounts so you're ready to capture high quality recordings straight out of the box.

Cardioid Polar Pattern
The sE5's cardioid polar pattern delivers a clean and smooth on-axis response, with off-axis rejection that's essential when recording the source instrument in-situ among unwanted noise sources such as other instruments or room ambience.

100Hz Bass Cut
The sE5's 100Hz bass cut can be applied to decrease the level of proximity effect, which is typical behaviour in cardioid pattern microphones if placed very close to the sound source, or to isolate from low frequency rumble from other sources.

-10dB/-20dB Pad
The two pad switches can be used if you're recording a very ˜hot' or loud signal. For miking up loud sound sources such as drums or a guitar cabinet, the -10dB or -20dB settings will reduce the level output from the microphone to the connected microphone preamp, ensuring a high quality signal is delivered.

Matte Black Finish
The matte black finish minimises the level of attention drawn to the microphone when used on stage or in the studio, allowing it to blend into the background.

Includes Custom sE5 Shock Mounts, Stereo Bar & Flight Case
The sE5 Pair includes a stereo bar and a pair of custom-designed shock mounts, which are essential for reducing the unwanted effects of vibration or knocks to the supporting microphone stand. The sE5 Pair comes in an sE Electronics flight case.

Great for tracking acoustic guitar!

By Matt

Comments about sE Electronics sE5 Small Diaphragm Condenser Microphone (Pair):

Love my sE5 pair - they are professional build quality and work great for tracking acoustic instruments such as steel string guitar. Solid microphones that hang with much more expensive options!

Shock mounts are a little on the cheap feeling side, but function fine and get the job done.

Comments about sE5 Small Diaphragm Condenser Microphone (Pair):

Thus far I have used these to record acoustic guitar and as drum overheads. They sound great for both. I use them each Sunday as my drum overheads at church. They provide a crisp and clear sound for soft cymbal rolls and can handle a large gain coming through them. They are pricey, but you are paying for the quality.
