excellent!

Comments about Sennheiser evolution e902 Dynamic Kick Drum Microphone:

Finally; a kick mic that not only handles low frequencies, but mids and highs with high clarity. Sounds like a much more expensive mic. Makes the D 112 sound like a muddy mess.

Killer Microphone

Comments about Sennheiser evolution e902 Dynamic Kick Drum Microphone:

In our blues/funk classic rock style of playing, the kick drum is the heartbeat of the band. Without it the sound seems weak. Well this baby lived up to the sennheiser reputation. The deliverance of the chest pounding thump gave the entire band a grin. The only thing that I didn't care for was the material used inside the threads of the microphone clip. Since you cant use a standard microphone clip, and this must be threaded onto the mic stand, I assumed it would be made of a more rugged material, after 7-8 shows it has become stripped and I must find a new replacement part. Other than that, this is a rock solid buy. Don't hesitate to buy this.

Comments about Sennheiser evolution e902 Dynamic Kick Drum Microphone:

This thing just flat out does the job.Short story, band I recorded, the drummer played uber fast blast beats, lots of very quick bass drumming. Problem, it was on a single bass drum (Tama swingstar) a new powerstroke 3 head somved most of the problem but the mic was just not picking up the individual strikes. This sucker 4 inches from the batter head, problem solved.Everything you could want in a bass drum mic for any application. Side note, it's my new go to mic for bass cabs as well.

Comments about Sennheiser evolution e902 Dynamic Kick Drum Microphone:

I have a 24 in cannon kick drum, with no padding, (I know how to tune drums) I use remo ebony pinstripes on batter and single ply ebony with kick port in the resonant. This mic first of all, fits in the port to the enterior of the drum unlike the AKG D112. Meaning, I can very easily get that coveted click out of my kick. The mic is medium in weight, does not tip the stand, even the tri leg as it sets somewhat at the tipping side because of the edge of the drum. The permanent mic clip is the one thing that draws it back, but that can be resolved with a quick release adapter. You never have to un screw it again. So minor flaw that it is, is at least over comeable. The sound, is very clear and extreme punch on my yorkville pa. It cleans up what other standards leave behind. My first choice is always sennheiser, a name I definitely know I can trust. Great for live performance! Audix? Audix who? For the money, my bet is on sennys. Of course, my bandaid box still has the durable sm57s just in case. And did I mention little to no eq mucking? This thing is a workhorse and reliable, as well as being easy and trouble free operation. Important unless you want your tech getting all the show spotlight. LOL! Get one, it cost the same as those other ones that this one out performs. Also, if you play double bass on a single kick, this one definitely and clearly defines each stroke no matter what tempo. What a great microphone. Like leaving a murky mud puddle for a freshwater spring. It does for the low end what glasses do for poor eyesight.

    Very nice mic

    By sean-H4AL7

Comments about Sennheiser evolution e902 Dynamic Kick Drum Microphone:

I purchased this mic for kick drum, upright bass ambient and bass cab. I've used the leading AKG and Shure kick mics, they're both very good. This one is easier to work with, ergonomically, and it also is just a tad less murky, if that makes sense. This mic is also great for vocals, believe it or not. Especially as a second mic in a stereo configuration with a condensor on figure 8.

    Great MIc!

    By Daniel Drake

    from nashville

Comments about Sennheiser evolution e902 Dynamic Kick Drum Microphone:

I had been looking at all kinds of mics to build a studio with. I narrowed my kick mics down to 3 and decided to go with this one even tho the other 2 where the industry standard. At the time the mic on here and the other site to buy gear off of only had 2 reviews each but all saying it was great. I went for it and was glad i did. It really does give you a great kick sound without EQ as long as you know where to place mics. It really can handle a ton of lows but still give you the punch you want out of your kick drum. If you are looking to get a mic for bass cabs or kick drums get this mic. DON'T HESITATE!

Comments about Sennheiser evolution e902 Dynamic Kick Drum Microphone:

When micing the bass drum on my kit i've noticed it has no attack/punch. It picks up 30hz-90hz really well but no midrange and lots of high end. I would use it for a second mic to add more low end to the kick but not my favorite first choice.

Comments about Sennheiser evolution e902 Dynamic Kick Drum Microphone:

I recently purchased my first drum mic kit, a Shure PG 6 piece set. The sound is just OK, and performed poorly enough for to swap out the kick and snare mics with Sennheiser's 900 series. The difference was like night and day. Where the PG's would clip and not handle the spl, the Senny's took it all in with ease. The punch coming through to my cans is the best I've ever heard. All of a sudden I have a renewed want to play.

I bought this microphone about 2 months ago and I have to say that it is the best microphone I have ever owned. Everyone that I show clips to says that my bass drum sounds triggered. You want some deep punch? Get this microphone. You will NOT be disappointed!

This microphone gives a true picture of sound. I put it in the Bass drum port and was ready to roll! No problems. This is a great microphone. Be sure to get some quick release mike adapters, the threads are plastic and easily worn.

Struggled for a year and tried many different bass drum microphones till I bought this e902. I play the unique Tama cocktail kit and a Rockstar kit. Issues went away when I got this baby!
