I have owned this system since Nov 2008 and have been playing guitar for 44 years. I play contemporary Americana, classic Rock and blues at least once a week with my longtime musical conferates. I have a modest (13 classic Gibsons and Fenders) collection of guitars and am a tube amp tweaker (love to get inside 'em and swap caps out etc.) This is a great wireless value and you should not be deterred by negative reviews here. If you have a weak battery, the signal will drop out, do goofy things with your tone and there will be a lot of noise. New battery, problem solved. True, the transmitter is cheap plastic but I've had no problems yet. No problems with the cable either. If I ever do have, I will straightwire an instrument cable in it an be done with it. There is a small boost in the treble levels when using this unit but I just roll it back on the guitars and keep on rockin'. It could possibly be tweaked out with the 2 controls on the base unit but it's such a small inconvenience that I haven't taken the time to mess with it. I am extremely pleased with this purchase and would not hesitate to repeat it. I hope this helps.

I have had this a week now. Tweaking the gain gets it working without popping and hissing but it is really inconsistent and cuts out. I use the guitar player rig and do not have these problems. The transmitter is plastic junk with a flimsy antenna. Really not pleased. Save your money on this one.

A Lot of Bang for the Buck

Replaced the 1/4

Decent price for the quality. Sound is good. I had a problem with the 1/4" jack that plugs in to the guitar. I was as if the diameter of the plug was just a hair too small. Any small movement of the cord would make the plug loose contact in the guitar's jack and make a horrible crackling noise. I bought a new metal jack, cut off the molded plastic jack and soldered the new one on. Works fine now. This thing goes through nine volt batteries pretty fast. I bought a couple rechargeables.

I own 2 of these, they are great!

By cjsayler

from North Dakota

I bought one to help remove the wire clutter on stage and found it to work so well for the money, I bought a second one! I use one for my electric and the other for my acoustic and have never had a single problem with either. The sound is crystal clear and you have to practically travel out of ear range before it cuts out. My only complaint is the transmitter looks like it's made out of cheap plastic but so far it has really held up.

Excellent Product But...

By Remnant1020

from Memphis, TN

We(as a band) have purchased 3 Sennheiser Freeport Wireless Guitar Units. We have been tremendously happy with their effectiveness on the bass guitar and also on the electric guitar (tone isn't compromised, range is great, and clarity is suprisingly good); however, when we hooked two seperate acoustics to each individual unit, all of them had the same problem. The signal tends to cut in and out with hard strumming. We have tried to adjust the gain and squelch to eliminate the problem but to no avail. We do not recommend this product for acoustic players, but we couldn't be happier for the money we've spent for the electric and bass guitars. Bottom line - excluding acoustics, the product exceeds its value. Otherwise spend a little more money and be assured of signal integrity.

WOW! this was an amazing system. It is easy to setup and it is just all around amazing. I would suggest it to anyone. I haven't heard it drop out even once. Good buy if this is your first.

Not quite a Home Run

I own another wireless set up that ran over 3 time what this did price wise. Why did I buy this one? My old wireless was noisy and would fade at a distance that I would think it should be working fine. I bought the Sennheiser frankly because it was cheap, and I like going wireless when I can.So far the Sennheiser is clean and quiet and has very good range. Where they really missed the boat in the transmitter clip. They have the top of the clip in the center of the back of the transmitter so no matter how you rotate the transmitter on the clip, it is top heavy and has a tendency to fall off your strap, belt or pocket. In order to feel safe with the transmitter, I will figure out a way to Velcro the unit to my strap. It gets a trial by fire tomorrow night -

Amazing wireless!

By Henryyy

I bought this looking for a wireless to use to get by with. I was completely impressed, it seems like it actually cuts out feedback. For the price, the look, everything, is amazing, and definitly worth the buy! You can't go wrong.

very good quality for a reasonable price

I am very impressed with this wireless system. I had a Nady before that I payed a lot more for and the sound wasn't very good. I play bass through this one and the sound isn't compromised at all. No background noise, and can walk really far away from receiver and still crystal clear sound with no dropout.

Nice wireless

By Rocki006

from Bay City & Chicago

I got this thing for Christmas 2007, and have used it a few times. I really like how I can be cable free and be able to move especially in tight quarters (like a dorm room). The complants I have seen on here are kind of rediculous. The connecter from the pack to guitar works great. Yeah, the pack is plastic, but that makes it light. hook it on to your strap with a wristband and you should be good. The receiver works great! I get popping only when it is in my back pocket. Again, hook it to the strap and no problems. Buy it! You'll be sure to enjoy what you can do with it!

How can you say this thing sucks?

I got this wireless for my birthday and it is one of the most valueable guitar items I have. You can go very far and still be playing, it does not eat batteries, and can take a good jumping around. This is an amazing wireless system for the musician who can't afford to destroy their budget. This rules.
