Alright folks, lets think about it. If you are looking at this mic then you are looking at a wireless mic & receiver. Yes, everything is made out of plastic. No, it is not meant to be used on the road. This set up has a nice natural sound to it. And yes it does have a lower spl and s/n ratio than it's bigger bothers that Sennheiser is known for. Nor would I use this mic for recording, but it is great for live. I have used the mic at a max of 75' and did not have a drop out. The battery last about as long as they state it does, but remembering to turn off handheld when not in use will help. Do I recommend this unit, you bet I do. It is a great wireless mic for the price you are paying for it. (note: Remember what I said for live use)

Decent sound quality, but my biggest grip is with the construction of this mic. Take my word for it, it is very delicate and not suitable for any applications out of its box. Simply stated, return it and get something else! Steer clear of the freePORT sets. Go for their better brands this one is a shure compromise!

Cheap and Does The Job

By Anonymous

from Undisclosed

I have been using this mic for a couple months now. Never had any feedback. Works great even without the antenna. One thing I would want is a mute button so you don't always turn off the mic. When you turn the mic back on it makes a click noise when it connects back with the receiver which is kind of annoying.

Dollar for Dollar...The Best!

By Uncle Robbob

from Gulf Shores AL

During the 70's, you could not buy a Sennheiser for less than a 2nd mortgage on your home. That is what got my attention when I saw their wireless at such a low price. We got one and flipped! Working beach gigs where saltwater & humidity rule, one needs mikes that are rugged, clean, and climate adaptible. We now use three.Forget "namebrand gurus". We are turning out 3 four hour gigs on one Eveready 9v. Our female vocalist has walked the crowd for as far as 50+yds without losing signal or clarity. All this for less than the mortgage! Medium sized Venues

I own 3 of these mics and have nothing but great things to say about it. I use it every week at a Gospel club and it sounds very clear! I just wish they made loner lasting batteries for wireless mics.

Great for Church Groups

By SoundManDrummer

from Grovetown, GA

The Sennheiser freePORT Wireless Vocal Set was purchased for church use and so far has been excellent. The range is amazing! Indoor or Outdoor it performs as expected. We will be adding more of these sets within weeks. The ease of setup makes this a solid purchase. Ready to go out of the box! (Plus the battery of course)

80's Metal Singer LOVES it!

By KnightStream

from River Falls, WI

Ask me a question

I have owned and used one Shure SM58 T4N-CL Wireless since 1999. The Shure was rugged, dependable, clean, and no problems with freq crossover. The FreePort is an outstanding mic with exceptional range (running around in the audience). It captures the bass, richness, and highs just fine. (you just need to know about mic control, singers). The only 2 disadvantages in comparison to my SM58 is that the FreePort mic itself has no mute switch... only "on/off". The other disadvantage is the frail 3in. antenna on the mic itself (SNAP). Thank GOD I could unscrew it and not lose any signal onstage (max 40ft. from receiver).Great product. The plastic mic doesn't bother me. We're not using it as a hammer.

BEST BUY!!!!

By Anonymous

I use the both the Shure SM58 w/the PGX wireless system and paid a lot more and this sounds as good. I wish it had more channels, but cannot complain ANY about sound quality. I am currently using 3 and plan to buy 1 more and if I can get off of the C channel to another I may buy several more. .

Awesome Wireless Mic

By HawaiiNoKaOi

from Northern California

I've had two of these mics for about 5 months and they work great anywhere I've played. The batteries (9 volt Duracell) do wear out after 8 - 10 hours of use. Otherwise, these are great mics.

BANG FOR YOUR BUCK!

By Anonymous

from Undisclosed

This mic is incredible. Always having used the Shure Beta and ULX, I'd never tried out a Sennheiser product. The vocal clarity is precise and clean. I use it for speech and announcements; as a mobile DJ I love the capabilities. The range is good, I don't get feedback, the battery life is good. In my opinion, the Shure Beta gives voice a little extra bass and echo, the Sennheiser puts out a more natural sound. It doesn't come with a case like the Beta, but SKB makes awesome multi purpose cases that are inexpensive and a special case can be ordered through Sennheiser.
