Not even certain what sort of features to look for. Has two drivers and framing to hold everything on your head. Comfortable enough with nothing you don't need.
I bought this to replace a cheap pair of AKG headphones that got broke. I have learned that headphones break regardless of how much you pay for them. I really do not want to have a heart attack when I sit on a $500+ headset!

Sound quality is really good for the price. I use them for recording and have been told that you do not want to have a headset that is "Too Good" anyway as it clouds your overall judgment of the mix. If you can make everything sound really good with an average set of headphones, it will sound really good playing back with your top-tier audio equipment!
For what you pay, it is a great pair of headphones!

I purchased these headphones about 2 weeks ago, and have thoroughly tested them with an array of music, as well as a couple of tone generators.

The re-create music quite well. However, the sub-bass lows are a little rough, and at higher volumes, are often crackled. I've found them to be quite superb, overall, in sound at low to mid-volume levels. Mids and Highs are simply spectacular for the money, and at lower volumes, the bass has good sound.

Perhaps the most recognizable flaw, is that these headphones simply have no real "punch" to them. It is almost as though someone has inserted a filter in order to reduce delivery of the overall "feel" of the music that can be obtained with a higher-cost headphone.

I would certainly recommend them for average listening, and low to mid-level playback of recording, but would avoid trying to use them for anything that would require high volume listening (e.g. bass guitar, drums, etc.). They are good for the average listener, but not for someone who wants a lot of bass reproduction.

The design is very comfortable, and I could wear them for hours at a time. Well-padded, and cover the ears for optimum sound isolation. The cord is a bit thin and flimsy, and requires a bit of extra care.

Overall, they are nice headphones, but they really lack when it comes to any significant bass reproduction. I would not suggest them for kids, or people who like to "crank it up." They are excellent for just average listening, but that's about all.

Great Set of Headphones!!

Comments about Sennheiser HD 201 Pro Closed Back Headphones:

Just got these in. I usually have to buy a set of headphones about once a year, with 4 kids is a wonder they even last that long. I usually buy the cheaper ones because of that.

For the price, they are fantastic. They offer a well balanced output. I didn't find them weak on the low end side. They fit over the ear comfortably, and have a plenty long enough cord. Overall sound is great! I can't wait till these break to buy another set.

Good for the $$

Comments about Sennheiser HD 201 Pro Closed Back Headphones:

If you need several pairs and want to do it cheaply but with some quality, or if you need a set for yourself and just can't justify more, then get these, but remember the quality level at which you are buying, and do not expect more than that to which you have a right. Key phrase here is "for the money".
These are very inexpensive, so you get what you pay for. We use them for simple monitor/play work. They work fine.
For very inexpensive headphones, they're just fine. Sennheiser makes some very good and very expensive headphones. For anything other than above, get a better set.
For the $$ you spend, it's hard to beat. But, again, you generally get what you pay for.

I use these headphones with my hearback system during recording sessions. they are a great value, sound great, and I don't mind when players sweat in them, drop, or break them. Well, better these than a pair of 200 buck headphones. For monitoring play back and general use, these cans can't be beat For the cash.

Since this a musician's site I imagine most people buying these will be using them for either recording or live mixing. They do not block outside noise enough for either and they are also do not produce enough volume for either. They are fine for listening to music, but not for things musicians might use them for.

No good for stage or studio

      By steven jugo

Comments about Sennheiser HD 201 Pro Closed Back Headphones:

When I first bought them I tried them with my MP3 player and they are ok for that task. I then brought them to a gig and tried to use them as monitors for myself as I set up the bands in ear monitor mix. They have no low end at all very tinny sounding. Trying to EQ a kick drum with a set of these headphones is a joke. I A-B them with my HD280s and there is just no comparison the HD280s blow them out of the water. No musician or recording engineer or live engineer should even consider these headphones for stage or studio
The cable is a y going to each ear peice separately
      Weak and flimsey

I've owned a pair of these headphones for over 2 years now. They've never given me any problems at all. They're comfortable to wear for hours on end without crushing your skull or compressing your neck. Good low end for the price. Incredibly clear for all types of music from technical death metal to IDM. A great buy for anyone low on cash.

      Simply astounding

      By Robert Le

      from Undisclosed

Comments about Sennheiser HD 201 Pro Closed Back Headphones:

These headphones are great, not amazing, but for the price they are simply awesome considering how clear, comfortable, and versatile the headphones are. Grab a pair and be astounded as the price is certainly not reflected in the quality of these headphones.
These headphones have an amazingly lengthy cord, at least 6 feet in length and the headphones fit perfectly around my ears. The design is simple and yet it still maintains an authentic style.

Does not have a volume control but nonetheless it is an amazing piece of work.
The build itself is of a hard plastic like many other headphones, but the structure of these headphones are quite sturdy and are capable of withstanding tosses here and there and obviously not a hard intentional throw into a wall.

The sound is amazing. When I first received the headphones I quickly unpacked it and hooked the headphones in and was astounded. The sound is so clear and the bass is not so abhorrent that it overthrows the treble.
For the price, these headphones are a STEAL. I recommend any beginner or listener to grab a pair of these headphones and try them out, there will be no disappointment.
