Just dropped by to order my fourth pair and thought I'd leave a review. The bass is awesome. The highs sound great to me as well. Most other headphones ive had in the past have high end harshness or peak-y-ness to my ears when cranked up where these sound crisp yet smooth in the high frequencies at any volume. Maybe its my ears or taste or whatever but I think these babys sound better than anything ive tried although I never tried anything that cost more than triple than these because im afraid I would break them too. I use them for playing guitar silently when mood or neighbors presuade me to do so and for listening to music usually at my laptop. A long cord is a MUST for plugging into stationary equipment where you could lean back or stand up or take a step to the side during a particularly good string bend and jerk on your source equipment and these phones have plenty with a cord about 9 feet long.

The only problem i have is a big one. The 1/8 jack (or more accuately the wires inside the flexy part of the jack) always ends up breaking. Not breaking off but one speaker channel will static/die intermittently if you wiggle it wrong. After a month or so of that its bad enough that you have to pull on the cord constantly by rigging it up under the laptop or an FX pedal to get it to play both channels. Then it just dies. All three pairs I have bought new have failed like this and all on the right-side channel. The ones I've bought have lasted me about a year, about nine months, and about two years, respectively. Thats not great but I keep coming back for more because they sound great and they're cheap. I'm definetly harder on headphones than average because I wear them in standing on my feet situations like playing guitar and yank on the plug pretty hard every once in a while by accident. I'd imagine these headphones would last much longer with somebody that is gentle with them. I keep breaking them but I keep getting them again and again. Great phones just be gentle with them. If you are rough with headphones and you don't want to have to replace them or you need headphones for a "can't fail" situation like DJ'ing or live performance monitoring you might want something a little more durable.
Overall I would recommend them to most people despite my track record of breaking jacks.

I would have rated them higher but they're not a closed invironment like the Bose. Unless you have them turned up too loud, a bit of room noise gets through because of the on-ear design. I'm not saying you could drive with these on, just not noise cancelling Take a pair home, I don't think you'll be disappointed.
I received these headphones as part of a package when buying a keyboard a few years ago. Because they were giveaways, I didn't have very high expectations of them. However, they have become my daily use headphones. Their response is very even all the way through both ends of the spectrum. Very defined and clear. The stereo image is crisp and vivid. I'm not saying they're the best phones I've ever heard, but for the price, you really can't do better than these babies.
For wearability, they are comfortable through about two movies together -- which is about all one could expect from anything clamped to ones head for that long. Even on a head like mine which is more like your driveway than your lawn. Finally, the straight cord is much more to my liking than a coiled snake. When they say 10' cord, you get 10', not 4.5' coiled up and tangled like nightcrawlers. I don't toss these around the room, but they have stood up to grandkids and me without any signs of wear or deterioration. After 2 years, they still sound very good.

Sennheiser HD 202 II Headphones

By John Pipkin

Comments about Sennheiser HD 202 II Headphones:

Overall this is a fantastic product. I have used mine for over a year and have never had any problems or complaints whatsoever. The earpieces are very comfortable even after long periods of time and the wide range of sound makes for high highs and low lows. Having used them for listening to music, stringed instruments, studio work, and drum headphones I can easily say that I would recommend these headphones to anyone (especially for the price, less than $40?!). Are they the have all end all headphones? No. But having used and compared many headphones I can say that if your not going to spend over $150 then these are the headphones for you.

Comments about Sennheiser HD 202 II Headphones:

These headphones are great, especially for the price. Contrary to some comments, these headphones have a great frequency response. I did notice that the removable feature of the headphones are a little too removeable. I use these in my vocal booths in my home studio. They are perfect for that application. If you want a pair of Sennheisers to mix with, I suggest getting at least the hd 280 pro headphones. If you are looking for a great pair of headphones for any use and want a long chord, this pair will do much better for consumers than say a pair that costs ten times as much and branded by some washed up rapper. Buy them, you won't regret it.

Awesome for the price. I had the 201's for years which are good too, just can't handle any loud bass. These handle live drums and bass guitar just fine with full mids and highs too.

I often use "Go To Meeting" in my business but couldn't hear the built in mike in my computer. My wife plunked her headphones (this same set) on my desk and said, "Try these". A new world opened to me. I ordered a set for myself and find them very clear, comfortable to wear and a tremendous improvement in hearing.

      I'll buy Sennheiser again.

      By Vivath Khamvanh

      from Iowa

Comments about Sennheiser HD 202 II Headphones:

Overall I'm buying another pair of these headphones just in case something were to happen to the pair I use now. I'm completely happy with my Sennheisers. I don't have a whole lot of money so these are a great find for me. In my opinion you get more than the price worth of quality.
The adaptor 3.5/6.3mm (1/4") stereo jack plug is nice and the cord take-up belt clip is really nice. These head phones come with very long cords.
I was in line by myself for Black Friday last week for 11 hours. I didn't know anyone so I had these headphones on most of the time. The leatherette cushions for your ears and on top of your head were not uncomfortable in any sort of way at any point of those 11 hours. Even the next day I did not have any sores around my ears or on my head. The headphones adjust very nicely to my head. The sound is great. The only thing I would criticize is the bass might not be as powerful as described. I mean, they sound great and they hit low frequencies. Just don't get too thrown off by the description.
I wouldn't say this if it wasn't true. Worth every penny. I have more expensive headphones. But for the price? and the quality you get? Yeah, I honestly take my Sennheisers everywhere I go.

The HD 202 headphones a very good for the price. The sound is deep and rich. The impedence is high, 20-20, 000 Mhz. So with a eq system or any quality mp3 player the sound is very good.

      Blew my mind

      By Bryan Beck

      from Undisclosed

Comments about Sennheiser HD 202 II Headphones:

I bought them because I was looking for a nice pair of headphones to use in my mini studio to record. I had used an older edition to help record a live folk ep, and had like how comfortable these were, so I picked these up. I was surprised how much better these things were than I remembered (probably 'cause I got a newer model).

I often act as a lackey with a local media department, doing the time-consuming jobs that they don't have time for. I've used their set of headphones which are probably four or more times the price. I was expecting a huge difference in quality between them and the Sennheisers, but while I can notice a difference, it wasn't so noticeable that I feel I got a greatly lesser pair; I get the same level of enjoyment from listening to them.

The sound quality is excellent. Great bass sound, which I love; when listening to music, you can literally feel the bass drum hit. Reverb takes on a new meaning--you can tell the type of room someone recorded in. I handed them to my dad recently, and after only a minute of listening he jokingly said, "So maybe I should just claim these for an early father's day gift." He instantly could tell the difference, and loved them.
I was a little nervous about the length of the cable when I bought it, in case I just wanted to use them to listen to my ipod or computer around the house. The cable is long enough that you can use it in a studio and walk around where you need without issue, but it also comes with a belt-clipping device meant for winding up the cable safely so you can have it as small as you need it.

If you're looking for a quality pair of studio headphones for a decent price, look no further. The quality on these things is excellent for any musician. I'd record using these things any day. I mean, if you're my brother, you'd complain because there is no volume control on the cable itself, but remember, these are Studio headphones, not ipod headphones...For the price, I'd be shocked to find something to beat them in quality. Within the first hour of trying out my Sennheisers, I was already contemplating buying another pair. For the price, it's probably the best thing out there, totally worth it.

I would have rated them higher but they're not a closed invironment like the Bose. Unless you have them turned up too loud, a bit of room noise gets through because of the on-ear design.
