Overall, i will give them a perfect in terms of how they sound, how the feel and for my application usage, i won't be negative about the burn in process as it did not effect me very much, though admitingly it was scary to get a $100 pair of headphones that sounded like something made in a basement, Read Quality about burning in the head phones ot increase thier performance.
I love how the cans swivle, it helps with pressure against your head, everybody has a different shape which makes us unique and these compensate for that uniquness. The high's and Mid's are amazing, but read the "Quality" part of my review on more about this. It comes with a 1/4' screw on adapter which is hand, plug it into your MP3 player or PC and use the adapter for your intruments.
I urge anyone purchasing headphones, whether these or another, to read this

The Quality, when i first pulled these out of the box i felt like i wasted $100, they didn't sound much better than a $15 pair of wal mart ear buds, even the bass was bad, it was distorting the entire reverb on any note, playing classical music, no problem, playing a R&B song, sounded like someone blowing in your ear at best, i had a 192khz/24bit raw sample available of many different sounds and it was bad, i mean real bad.

Here is the thing, little did i know you have to "burn-in" headphones, yeah, news to me, well i followed a guide which you can google "Burn in headphones guide" or something of that nature and come up with some information. I do NOT suggest using white noise, pink noise or any of that garbage, set a playlist of several different types of music, some with guitar, some with bass, some with female singers, male singers, get a good 100 hours of music and put it on repeat for about 5 or 6 hours, put the volume at normal listening volume (it doesn't need to be any louder than that!) and just leave it, come back and let your headphones "rest" for about 30 minutes, if you want, you can continue stressing, this time for 10 hours, do an increase in time after each pause but start alittle lower (3-5 hours) work up to 10 until you have stressed it for a total of about 80-100 hours including normal usage.

I did this for 8 hours today after my initial dissapointment and i honestly had zero hope it would make any difference, but holy cow it did!, the bass on these picked up to a nice smooth woof like it's supposed to be, it isn't a hard hit but it's enough to know its there and feel it in your head without distorting the rest of the sounds like it was doing. I was more interested in the highs and Mids because i am a pianist, but i'm considering these for netflix and other multimedia purposes now. I don't think they are quite where they should be and from my limited knowledge they will get a massive leap in quality around 50 hours, at this 50 hour point if they continue to gain in performance like thye did before i'm going to think they are more valuable than i paid for them.

I can't stress enough how much of a difference it made, there is no need to turn them up very loud, i had them at about speech volume in my ears which isn't very loud, just normal usage volume. Turning them up to much isn't going to help or make the burn in go any faster, it juust risks ruining your headphones.
At first i thought i got ripped off, see Quality above. you really need to burn these headphones in to hear what they can really do.

See my "features" comments. These are some of the best sounding headphones I have ever heard. Nice and clear, plenty of volume and a well balanced sound. They blow my higher-end akg's out of the water. They isolate pretty good and are comfortable to wear for long periods. No special effects here to make them sound good. Just some really good headphones.
For the price, you absolutely cannot buy a better sounding pair of headphones. Great amount of distortion-free volume available. Good isolation, clarity and detail, even in the bottom end. I love these things! This is my second pair and would never hesitate to buy another pair if and when needed. I have a set of AKG k270 studios and the hd280 blows them out of the water, especially in the bottom end and volume departments.

Comments about Sennheiser HD 280 PRO Closed-Back Headphones:

Use it with Mac laptop, comparable to digital. I'm not negative about digital, in fact I find it superior these days, over twenty years ago when it wasn't. I'm a big fan of what the the new generation is doing with it these days. Fact I compare it to my generation, what goes around comes around.

Comments about Sennheiser HD 280 PRO Closed-Back Headphones:

I use these listening to music and even TV, but got them primarily to record on GarageBand. They seem really well made. I notice that I have to have them setting at just the right angle on my head for them to stay on solidly. Also, if not just right, they get a little bit uncomfortable against the top of my health, but this may be something that I may get used to.

Also, the cord being a spiral is annoying while working with GarageBand. When I'm on my guitar, the headphone cord is hard to get out of the way, as I have to be positioned to be able to access GB and my interface.

Comments about Sennheiser HD 280 PRO Closed-Back Headphones:

Luv these phones, great entertainment value hooked up to my Mac laptop, the only place I'll be using them. Haven't found a genre yet that these can't perform in. Listening to new wave right now, clarity, spacing, tonal quality, etc. etc. . Really pleased with purchase. The one drawback was that these are keepers, and I had to try to form them a bit, cause they rested right on a knob on the top of my head, so I got desperate and took the plunge. So far, so good as long as I don't over do it. I don't recommend it but if push comes to shove? Headphones are like peanuts, you can't stop at one, and you can never find everything you want in one. However these come really close to touching all the bases. Solid value.

Comments about Sennheiser HD 280 PRO Closed-Back Headphones:

I had read about how the Sennheiser HD280 Pro headphones fit snugly, passively cancled noise fairly well, and provided full, clear and relatively-uncolored sound. I can hereby concur.

The fit, particularly at the top (the headband) might be too snug for some people, but the padding makes it comfortable enough for me. The earcups fit well around the ears, and aren't as shallow as other models' can be. They do isolate sound rather well, reducing the noise of my A/C unit a couple meters from my desk to a low, faint hum, which disappears when music is playing. That quality in conjunction with well-balanced and full sound were the reasons I'd wanted these headphones, as I was looking for some to use while using my computer, near my A/C unit, to create music without the distraction of external persistent noise, and also wanting some headphones to do real duty in recording vocals and not having to worry about comfort and leaking audio.

The sound quality is superb; one might have to spend several times more for closed-back headphones with appreciably better sound quality. Although I love the sound (and prefer the fit) of my open-back AKG K240s, with the HD280s I can hear more detail in the highs, and drums sound as punchy as they should.

It has been said that the HD280s aren't so great with lower-output portable devices, but they can get loud enough driven by my Android smartphone. Otherwise, I tried these out on two loud rock songs, coincidentally from 1977 (back before "brickwalling" and such depleted dynamic range and spatial detail). First was "Holidays in the Sun" by the Sex Pistols. It felt like hearing the song for the first time, all over again, as I had back when it was new. This time, I could notice the slight delay used on the vocal. Next, it was "Live Wire" by AC/DC, recorded live at Atlantic Studios in 1977. It sounded like I was in the room with Bon Scott, and I could hear the sound of the pick on the strings of Angus Young's guitar.

            Go ahead and buy 'em.

Comments about Sennheiser HD 280 PRO Closed-Back Headphones:

I have a pair of HD 650s that I use for mixing, as they are comfortable, flat, and translate very well to the monitors I have. I tried using them during a live performance and it was a fail, the open back design allows too much sound in and it was near pointless.

Since I love my 650s, I wanted to stick with Sennheiser and after some research I purchased the HD 280s.

These cans are great. They are snug enough to not fall off the head, and they cancel outside noise very well. I'm now using them for live performances as well as just another set of speakers to mix in the studio. The bass performance and flat quality of the Sennheiser brand are excellently implemented in these headphones.

Even though many competing headphones are much more expensive, these were always rated at, or near, the top. I understand why, now. They are great!
